March 4, 200916 yr I think they'll do alright. Housh was good but I think the Bengals have enough WR's to be alright without him. What I don't get is why he went Seattle. They suck more than the Bengals.
March 5, 200916 yr we just resigned benson WR Coles was signed yesterday. So things aren't quite as bleak as they were before. But if Bengals had waited one more day they would have had the chance to pair T.O. with Ocho Cinco. What a pair they would made!
March 16, 200916 yr Dhani Jones Tackles the Globe premieres on the Travel Channel on Monday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iV3p5_FYXI
March 16, 200916 yr I think all the Bengals need right now is a good Center and Fullback. They should be ok after that but I still doubt they will make it to the playoffs.
April 26, 200916 yr According to ESPN, the Bengals finally got it right in the draft and will be much better next year lol. Our defense should be awesome though.
April 26, 200916 yr My favorite pick of the draft was the selection of Kevin Huber who was the amazing punter from the University of Cincinnati (keepin' it local).
April 27, 200916 yr By all accounts the Bengals put together a very solid draft. 1. Andre Smith, OT, Alabama 2. Rey Maualuga, LB, USC 3a. Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech 3b. Chase Coffman, TE, Missouri 4. Jonathan Luigs, C, Arkansas 5. Kevin Huber, P, Cincinnati 6a. Morgan Trent, CB, Michigan 6b. Bernard Scott, RB, Abilene Christian 7a. Fui Vakapuna, FB, BYU 7b. Clinton McDonald, DT, Memphis 7c. Freddie Brown, WR, Utah The first 5 picks all project to be starters, with the first 3 possibly starting right away. They got a lot of value. It will be interesting to watch what happens with Bernard Scott. He has some serious character issues, wound up playing in DII, but is a fantastic talent nonetheless.
April 27, 200916 yr 1. Andre Smith, OT, Alabama One Word!...............BEAST! I've been watching this guy for some time and I knoooow Carson can't wait!
April 27, 200916 yr The Bengals swung for the fences on their first three picks. All three could be All-Pro's. On the other hand, all three could be total busts/disasters. I thought it would have been best for each of those players to go somewhere with a strong veteran presence locker room such as NE, Pitt, Philly, NYG, Balt, etc.. Smith was the most imposing and talented OL on the board IMO, but I wonder if he has the work ethic to last in the league or if he is another Mike Williams type bust. I also wonder, if the Bengals did not take him, how far he would have dropped. Possible that the Bengals could have picked him up in the mid-teens. There has to be a reason Maualuga dropped so far. Considering that he is a Steelers/Ravens type player and both those teams passed on him when he would have been considered a good value really speaks volumes IMO. There was something in his character report that scared teams away... not just his lack of lateral quickness. Same could be said for the DE from Georgia Tech who was considered a sure-fire first rounder until this past year.
May 10, 200916 yr i give our overall draft a B plus with the potential to rise to an A, given player performance. Michael Johnson really intrigues me with his prototypical size (6-7) for a speed rush DE. maybe we have the next jason taylor.... Rey and Smith will both be starters and eventual pro-bowlers if they can maintain the proper attitude.
May 10, 200916 yr the acquisition of Brian Leonard really helps solidify 2 positions.... FB and RB. they said they would use him as RB #2 but i think we will see more of him as FB since he played mainly there for the rams. Also i believe he was an absolute steal for US!!!! 2 yrs ago he was a 2nd round pick and he will contribute on this team, on the other hand Orien Harris( the DT he was traded for) had a very slim, outside shot at even making the team, much less starting or receiving significant playing time.
May 10, 200916 yr also with leonard being able to double up on positions (which is key for a backup) it will allow for the bengals to keep an extra RB or FB, with it probably going to be a RB, where we currently have a logjam of players - 2 new draftpicks (scott & mr.BYU), james johnson, ced ben, dede, etc.... overall the bengals feel they have addressed their backup RB situation w/ leonard being the 2 in the 1-2 punch.
May 10, 200916 yr and a note on the D real quick. i had mostly assumed after they resigned their free agents and chris crocker to that 10million dolla deal that they would be content with using the draft to help the D, a unit that finished 12th last year in total Defense. But WOW they did something i havent seen since i have been a bengals fan (whole life)- Made a big splash in FREE AGENCY WOW. Tank Johnson will be great stuffing the run and pressuring the QB up the middle teaming w/ a 2nd yr pat simms and the main man Peko, we are SET at DT. Then Roy Williams??? dang- icing on the cake. whenever u can add a 28 year old prime time, hard hitting, 5- time pro bowler to your locker room its great. hopefully we can sign him to a long term deal after this yr. i also think his addition to team with ndukwe, m white, & crocker will give us some of the best safeties in the league. 2 first round corners plus if we sign r hood, dang our D will be a force to be reckoned with. 40 of the total 86 players for voluntary camp are new this year. talk about a roster shakeup
May 10, 200916 yr Its about time the Bengals start being aggressive in the FA. We definitely have the potential if the team can stay injury free. The D sounds like it's going to make some noise.
May 16, 200916 yr Memo to Chad Johnson / Ocho Cinco / Ochocinco: If you're going to make a national laughingstock over your desired name change, you should at least write it correctly when you submit your legal paperwork.
September 19, 200915 yr This thread is now cleaned up as per the red box standards. Just in time to discuss tomorrow's Bengals game at Green Bay. Or I suppose you could discuss last Sunday's improbable heartbreaking soulcrushing 87-yard pass play loss to Denver. Your choice. :-(
September 20, 200915 yr I was starting to get nervous there at the end but glad they still managed to get a W. Next week will be the test to see if the Bengals are legit. Could've easily had a 2-0 record right now but I still have hope.
September 23, 200915 yr If you need a new shirt to wear down to the Bengals game you can pick up one of these new Cincinnati Streetcar T-shirts in gameday colors at Market Wines in Findlay Market; men's and women's cuts available:
September 28, 200915 yr Man that was an awesome win. I watched up until the 4th qtr but left my house after the missed field goal. I come back to see the score and I was shocked! Their next big test will be Baltimore in my opinion.
October 4, 200915 yr Here we go!!!! A little OH rivalry! Beng VS. Browns! Let's do this .... cast your predictions!
October 4, 200915 yr predict what? anything less than a slaughter? ok, ok here's my prediction: the browns have an excellent chance to go winless this year.
October 4, 200915 yr They barely pulled out a victory but a win is a win. 3-1 and tied for first in the division. WHO DEY!!
October 11, 200915 yr Sweet Bejeesus! First place in the AFC North! Who Dey! IMO, St. Louis needs to be let go. Bring in somebody else.
October 11, 200915 yr Tell the announcer to lay off the "cardiac" or "kardiak" moniker. That belongs to Cleveland. ...carry on
October 12, 200915 yr I wouldn't be surprised if St Louis is gone by morning. I think we played sloppy but a W is a W. Ray Lewis pretty much cost Baltimore the game. The Bengals record should be 5-0 but they have the division right now and thats all that matters.
October 12, 200915 yr From Chad Ocho Cinco's Twitter: "Beautify game, Ray knock my head off, all part of the game, I love my big brother Ray Lewis, hope you all enjoyed thee event !!!!!" He doesn't seem too bothered by the hit. Hell, Ray Lewis' inability to control his temper was one of the key plays in the winning drive.
October 12, 200915 yr Props to the Bengals for knocking off the Ravens yesterday. Sincerly a Browns Fan
October 14, 200915 yr St Louis was cut today. Taking his place is young 25 year old Clark Harris, signed after Houston cut him from their practice squad.
October 14, 200915 yr Well he can't be much worse than St. Louis! That dude sucks! Although I wonder if some of the blame should also be placed on Shayne Graham.
November 8, 200915 yr lol ... why did Ocho have a dollar bill in his hand while he was standing near the ref?
November 8, 200915 yr I expect a fine for that. Good game though. Hopefully Henry is back by the playoff's.
November 9, 200915 yr They looked almost as flawless as they did two weeks ago! Good Show!! P.S. CBS picked a great shot from high up on the west side of the stadium above the canopy, aiming towards Downtown via second street direction to use as their intro from commercials today. The shot showed damn near every tower DT as a backdrop to the eastern half of the stadium. QCS is really standing out now!! The entire skyline almost looked fake against a clear blue sky!!!
November 15, 200915 yr Okay, who are these football players wearing Bengals uniforms, and what have they done with the Bengals?
November 15, 200915 yr Stunning and Sweet! Cincy has the best Pro, College, and High Schools teams in the country!
November 15, 200915 yr Stunning and Sweet! Cincy has the best Pro, College, and High Schools teams in the country! ... all we need now are the Reds to compete and well, I think I'll go freakin nuts.
November 15, 200915 yr Stunning and Sweet! Cincy has the best Pro, College, and High Schools teams in the country! ... all we need now are the Reds to compete and well, I think I'll go freakin nuts. You and I both sir. I long for the Reds to be contenders again. Anyway awesome win by the Bengals today. Not alot of action but they managed to get a W. I wouldve loved to have been in Pitt today to rub it in all of their faces.
