January 12, 200619 yr Here are some pictures I took at (or near) the game! Hated to lose (and lose Carson) but I am optimistic for future playoff wins.
January 12, 200619 yr Look at all those cars on the banks! Why not build a Walmart and let the lot double. :-) You're not of the Calihan family are you BHG?
January 13, 200619 yr OMG this would SUCK CINCINNATI -- Carson Palmer's knee injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending," involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap, his surgeon said Thursday.
January 13, 200619 yr Do you have a link to that story, unusualfire? So you can gloat? www.bengals.com has the full story.
January 13, 200619 yr oh shut the hell up, moonloop... the last thing i want to see if for Carson Palmer to suffer a potentially "career-ending" injury... he may be a Bengal... but he is one of the NFL's brightest young stars... I consider him to the 3rd best QB in football at the moment... it would be a devastating loss for the sport of football to lose a player like Carson. In addition, I have never had any hatred for the Bengals and am glad to see a winning club in Cincy after all these years.
January 13, 200619 yr Also, I don't think you want to cause a tiff with a fellow Porcupine Tree fanatic, moonloop.
January 13, 200619 yr Surgeon says remarks 'misinterpreted Bengals public relations released this statement late Thursday night from Dr. Lonnie Paulos, who operated on Carson Palmer’s left knee Tuesday in Houston. “I believe and regret that media reports based on interviews with me have misinterpreted my view of Carson Palmer’s knee injury. January 14, 200619 yr Also, I don't think you want to cause a tiff with a fellow Porcupine Tree fanatic, moonloop. I guess I can cut you some slack, since your a PT fan. It was sweet to see PT live twice in one year (Covington and Bogarts). However, I will aways will hate the Steelers and the more I think about this cheap shot the more pissed off I get.
January 18, 200619 yr Author Look at all those cars on the banks! Why not build a Walmart and let the lot double. :-) *PUNCH*
January 18, 200619 yr Look at all those cars on the banks! Why not build a Walmart and let the lot double. :-) *PUNCH* Indeed!
January 25, 200619 yr so i heard that the lions are considering your WR coach (hue jackson) as our OC can any of you guys provide any insight into him?
January 30, 200619 yr okay, i see all you guys are still in denial, and refusing to talk the bengals.....
January 30, 200619 yr (pulls head out from a hole in the sand)...wha'? Who Dey? (sticks head back in sand)
February 1, 200619 yr I was too distracted by Chris Henry's arrest to answer.... pope, I never really paid much attention to Jackson. He's done a good job and had a lot of talent to work with, and he made them better. Without knowing him personally and just going by what I've heard about him, he's more than capable as a coach. If I'm not mistaken, Jackson has some OC experience from Arizona State. Not exactly the top program, but they did go to the Rose Bowl when he was there.
February 1, 200619 yr You're rather knowledgable of Bengal assistant coaches for a Seahawks fan, grasscat.
February 1, 200619 yr Ugh Chris Henry. So much talent... Here's to hoping they find a way to reform him somehow. I would hate to see him latch on somewhere else and get things right. He could be very very good with that size and speed.
February 1, 200619 yr You're rather knowledgable of Bengal assistant coaches for a Seahawks fan, grasscat. LOL...I've only been a Seahawks fan for about 9 days.... Speaking of Chris Henry, his arrest report is online if anyone would like to read it: http://news.enquirer.com/assets/AB17605131.PDF
February 1, 200619 yr He really needs to get his act together. It's a shame when people make it big like that and then do stupid things that could hinder their efforts to stay successful.
March 13, 200619 yr Well, it looks like they're finally going to address that safety position, which was probably their biggest weakness last year. Will Demps, Dexter Jackson, Marlon McCree and Lawyer Milloy are supposed to be coming to town to meet with the team. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060312/SPT02/603120413/1078/rss12 If we could sign at least one free agent safety and get Madieu Williams back, that would be a big help for this defense.
March 13, 200619 yr Anyone have anything on Palmer? I haven't seen any updates that weren't rumors, but I haven't been paying very close attention...
March 14, 200619 yr All I've heard on Palmer is that he's progressing normally. In other words, the team is keeping things guarded and not saying much. The Bengals did sign safety Dexter Jackson today from the Bucs. He'll be a big help assuming his hammy is healed.
March 14, 200619 yr well you lost your backup QB: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060314/SPORTS19/60314009 bring on scott mitchell!
March 15, 200619 yr Are you guys hearing the same rumors about Palmer? I keep hearing that they think he won't be able to play football again.
March 16, 200619 yr Are you guys hearing the same rumors about Palmer? I keep hearing that they think he won't be able to play football again. I heard that rumor as well, but I would not place much credibility on it. If the rumor had any real significance behind it, then someone (ESPN, local media, Bengals) would have publicized it by now. I personally dont believe that he'll play the first two or three games of the year, but he WILL be back and lead the Bengals to another post-season run. ESPN's NFL expert said that if Palmer is able to play 12 or more games then he would consider them to be one of the Superbowl favorites for next season. He said this is because they essentially dont lose anyone major, and Marvin seems to have a 'golden touch' in the draft. Madieu Williams will also be an extra draft pick of sorts since it will be his 2nd year of play after an outstanding rookie season. GO BENGALS....WHO DEY!!!!
March 18, 200619 yr I read that Brian Griese came to town today. He'd be a great backup. I have more faith in him than I do in Sage Rosenfels. They also re-signed Anthony Mitchell, a special teams stud.
March 23, 200619 yr I would take Harrington anyday over Jamie Martin and Tommy 'Turnover' Maddux. Jamie was a one hit wonder and will never consistantley produce, whereas Maddux is just terrible not too mention he was a Steeler :x
March 23, 200619 yr i'm not directly comparing harrington to palmer, but if your coaches can do even half as good a job on harrington.......
March 31, 200619 yr Congrats on getting Sam Adams. I am glad the Browns picked up a pro-bowl offensive line man. We will need it for the Pit and Cincy d-line.

The Bengals defeated Pittsburgh for the 2005 AFC North Division championship, but in their last visit to Paul Brown Stadium, this past Jan. 8, the Steelers defeated Cincinnati in the first round of the playoffs. Cincinnati will open the regular season on the road for the third straight year, visiting Kansas City on Sunday, Sept. 10. The home opener on Sept. 17 will feature the Cleveland Browns in the 66th edition of the “Battle of Ohio.” The Bengals currently are scheduled for two prime-time night games. They also are slated for two late-afternoon Sunday contests that will be featured national doubleheader games on CBS. The night games are Thursday, Nov. 30 at home against Baltimore (NFL Network) and Monday, Dec. 18 at Indianapolis (ESPN). The broadcast of both of those games will also be aired in the Cincinnati market on a local, non-cable television station to be announced. The CBS national doubleheader Sunday games, both scheduled for 4:15 p.m. (Eastern time), are Oct. 1 at home against New England and Dec. 24 at Denver. The Bengals could also have a national game on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, as seven of the last eight Sunday night contests are yet to be determined under the NFL’s new “flexible scheduling” format. Both Bengals home preseason games also are slated for national TV — Sunday, Aug. 13 against Washington (NBC) and Monday, Aug. 28 against Green Bay (ESPN). Cincinnati closes the season with three straight games against fellow 2005 AFC playoff qualifiers — Indianapolis, Denver and Pittsburgh. Those teams combined for a 38-10 record in ’05. “We’re excited that the schedule is out; it helps keep you energized,” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. “It’s a difficult schedule. We’ve got the World Champions (Pittsburgh) twice, and we’ve got the other three AFC Division champs besides ourselves (Denver, Indianapolis, New England). In the NFC, we’ve got the championship game runner-up (Carolina) and another division champ (Tampa Bay). “It’s a challenge, but you don’t win anything without facing a challenge. We welcome the opportunity to earn our way back into the playoffs.” Bengals season tickets are on sale now Tickets for all home games on the 2006 Bengals schedule, including the preseason, are on sale now as part of a Season Ticket Package. For more information, or to purchase Bengals season tickets, please contact the Bengals Ticket Hotline at 513-621-TDTD (8383) or call toll free at 866-621-TDTD. Season ticket information can also be found in the “Tickets” menu on the Bengals’ official website, www.bengals.com. Sunday afternoon games could switch to prime-time Bengals fans are asked to take note that in seven of the last eight weeks of the 2006 NFL season, games currently scheduled for Sunday afternoon will be eligible to be moved to an 8:15 p.m. kickoff on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The league’s “flexible scheduling” element will ensure quality matchups for the Sunday prime-time games, and will give playoff-contending teams the chance to increase their late-season national exposure. No teams currently are listed in the Sunday night time slots for Weeks 10-15 and 17, meaning that in each of the seven ‘flex’ weeks, one afternoon game will be moved to Sunday night. (Week 16 Sunday afternoon games, including Cincinnati’s national doubleheader contest at Denver, will not be made eligible for 8:15 p.m. starts, due to travel and scheduling considerations for the holiday weekend). For games of Weeks 10-15, the NFL will provide at least 12 days notice of a switch to Sunday night. For example, if the Bengals game on Nov. 12 vs. San Diego were to be moved to 8:15 p.m. from its present 1 p.m. slot, the change would be announced no later than Tuesday, Oct. 31. For games of Week 17, to ensure contending teams will be on the final Sunday night broadcast, the change could be made with six days notice. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights. Bengals home games eligible to be moved to Sunday night are Nov. 12 vs. San Diego, Dec. 10 vs. Oakland and Dec. 31 vs. Pittsburgh. Bengals road games eligible to be moved to Sunday night are Nov. 19 at New Orleans and Nov. 26 at Cleveland. As in past seasons, Bengals games scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sundays also will be eligible to be moved to 4:15 p.m. for greater national TV exposure. Last season, Cincinnati’s Nov. 20 showcase home game against Indianapolis was moved from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., with the change announced on Oct. 31, nearly three weeks in advance. http://www.wcpo.com/news/2006/local/04/06/bengals.html
April 20, 200619 yr Bengals add veteran backup QB Anthony Wright started 7 games in '05 and '03 for Ravens I like the news...this is a decent young quarterback that is nice to have on the roster. I'm kind of puzzled by the tag of 'veteran quarterback' but what would you expect from the Enquirer anyways.
April 20, 200619 yr All I can say about Wright is that I hope Palmer doesn't miss any games. Good news on the Chad signing! The old Bengals never got their best players signed long-term. I'm glad to see them making a commitment now.
April 21, 200619 yr Now lets just get that O-Line signed, without any time to throw Carson and chad cant do much.
April 21, 200619 yr The Bengals have money, in-fact they are one of the top in the NFL. They made 45 million last year.
April 21, 200619 yr The Bengals have money, in-fact they are one of the top in the NFL. They made 45 million last year. ever heard of the salary cap? (i think that was the point of your post)
April 21, 200619 yr They are going to have to get creative, i think they can keep everyone but levi. witch sucks because he has been in cincy as long as anyone else, but if they cant keep him at least he will get a big payday somewere else.
April 30, 200619 yr Because I'm too lazy to look up the Cleveland Browns Thread (buried somewhere) I just want to tell Bengals fans that the Browns had the better draft of the two teams yesterday. :-P
April 30, 200619 yr To bad they are still going to be bad. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 3, 200619 yr With the Bengals signing two more LSU players today, government officials down here in Louisiana are looking to make a claim on Cincinnati and rename it North Baton Rouge. :-D Seriously, the athletic talking heads down here are somewhere between joyous and mystified that Cincy has picked (via Undrafted Free Agents & the draft) 4 LSU players, from this year's collection. Though that still doesn't match the 7 & 8 OSU players Chicago and Minnesota carried in the mid 90s.
May 4, 200619 yr Steinbach working on deal Bengals lineman says focus now is on the money side BY MARK CURNUTTE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER Starting offensive lineman Eric Steinbach said Wednesday that his agent and the Bengals have agreed on the length of a possible contract extension. "But right now we're talking the money situation," said Steinbach, the starting left guard and one of four starting offensive linemen whose contracts will expire after the 2006 season. Steinbach is a three-year starter. Full story: http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060504/SPT02/605040393
