It looks like the NFL, who I am sure looked at this more carefully than any of us can, decided the push in the back did affect his trajectory based on their opinion.  The fact that he turned to avoid helmet to helmet contact also helped.

I agree with the NFL that its not a flagrant foul. If he lead with his head, then it would have to be a penalty.  This has nothing to do with the push. It still appears that the push had little effect on the defensive player's momentum. I think that it was a particularly vicious hit, but that it was not meant to do the damage that it did.

Except it only works when referencing teams that Dikta has been with (Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, New Orleans).

^ thats why I said SIGNED free agent....oh fur f_ck sake...never mind!

that was an amazing TD catch by Chad Johnson... looks like he's in pain though...

I know of the skits....it just didn't ring a bell when you threw that comment out there.

Yeah, that was stupid.  Maybe he should read up on his Oktoberfest history and find out why its in September.  Fucking moron.  I thought I'd never have to hear him again after the Bengals got good.

Also...I got the "Mini-Ditka" joke.  Hilarious.

WHO DEY!

^ fans & mayors aside, i'd bet the bengals show the stillers they are back well enough. i cant wait for this game, it should be best of the season so far.

wow, It does not look good early.

Got better, but good lord, how many times can we just hand the ball away?

The Steelers look sharp and strong - they look a ton better than we do...a couple mistakes breaking another way and this could be a 35-7 game already...

I wonder if mayor Mallory has met Joey Porter yet.

Phew.  That was nerve-wracking...

Who Dey!

We Dey? ;)

So Dave Lapham just said Thurman was at a bar on Kellogg Avenue...it was known that there was a checkpoint on Kellogg that night...the bartender told his crew about it and told them to get a cab if they were going to drink...other folks at the bar offered them a ride...and still, dude gets hit for DUI.

And, according to this story:

http://www.channelcincinnati.com/sports/9926574/detail.html

"Thurman was released to a companion who was sober to drive him home, police said."

A companion?  There was a sober dude in the car, and he still drove?  Aargh...

wow he was a great talent too. Will the Bengals trade him before his contract is up or what happens? Is the contract void now?

Back in the saddle again.

Houshmandzadeh nets league honor

The first game of T.J. Houshmandzadeh's season garnered a weekly league honor no Bengals offensive player had received since Week 13 of the 2004 season.  For his performance in the 28-20 win against the Steelers Sunday, the NFL named the Bengals wide receiver its AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Houshmandzadeh led all receivers with nine receptions for 94 yards and had touchdown catches of 9 and 30 yards in a 54-second span in the fourth quarter.  It is the first such honor for Houshmandzadeh, a sixth-year pro who missed the Bengals' first two regular-season games with a heel bruise.

Division rivals, I suppose.

Division rivals, I suppose.

But not KC proper?

KC is going to be blown up in the next Jericho episode on CBS, so it doesn't matter.

I haven't watched Jericho yet.  Is it NW or SW of KC?

I don't know.

So we really ain't looking very good...

Of course, I do wonder WTF that roughing the passer call was about.  Tackling the dude with the ball is now considered "roughing?"  What a horse shit call...

The Bengals obviously should have scored more so a call at the end would not affect the outcome, but I cannot recall ever seeing a roughing the passer on a sack.  It looked like a fumble, and that would have been the game - it's one thing to lose, but on a questionable call....f**k.

maybe my new avatar will bring the team some good luck

Great reference...I could have used that a few weeks ago!

Another Bengals cover story in SI. I expect another one toward the end of the year. Chad has a condo near Eden Park.

Tax assessor says 919 Sharkey Lane - but the map doesn't come up, and none of the online mapping sites show that street...anyone have a map showing where that is?  I'm guessing back among Sinton or Fulton or something, but I can't place the units or the name exactly...

How much do those condos go for? It's just nice to hear that Chad lives in Cincy whereas most players from the Bengals and Reds seem to live in NKY. Well, I know Carson lives in Indian Hill.

How about the Bengals get every piece of bad luck in the world this season.

-massive amounts of injuries (entire OL, LB's, & WR's/DB's)

-every shaft ass call from the officials possible

-fluke high performance games from nobodys

obviously the stars are aligned against the Bengals this year...it just seams like a losing battle  :|

Moonloop - I think those units go in the $200K-$300K range, if I remember correctly...

^Thanks.

Vick was a monster against the Bengals. He looked like a real quarterback for a change.

Jesus - the second time this year the Bengals have gotten a terrible call at the end of the game.  How was that not pass interference against Baltimore on the 4th and 4 play?  I am getting sick of bad refs.

If the Bengals didn't spot the Ravens 14 points in the first 5 minutes of the game, it would have never came down to that. It is starting to get a little depressing right now but I'm in no way giving up yet.

It was a bad call, but at least it wasn't a foul where it actually mattered - if that guy hadn't bumped TJ, he still wouldn't have made that catch.

But yeah, the only offensive touchdown the Ravens scored was on a very short field in the first drive of the game.  It was really a very encouraging game, far as I was concerned.  When you lose by a couple mistakes, and nearly overcome them against a tough team, that's good news.  Well, not as good as a win, but still, I'm not very down about this one.

And Pittsburgh lost - always a good day when that happens!

The Bengals won't catch the Ravens. They have an easy schedule left and the Bengals have one of the hardest still left to play.

I attended the Bengals and Ravens game on the 5th. It was a good game, despite the bad call against the Bengals there towards the end. I dont think i've ever been harassed more in my entire life though, due to the fact i had a Cincy jersey on. Boy did they have a hayday rubbing the loss in our faces!  They do have a tough schedule ahead but hopefully they can pull it off.

Wow - what a first half!  Carson's completed 20 of 23 for 282 yards, with 2 TD's...he's completed passes to seven different receivers.  Frickin' WOW!

Wow - what a 3rd quarter...frickin' wow.  We're now losing, 42-38, 14:35 left in the 4th quarter.

Frickin' wow.

We've gained 499 yards so far - and we're losing.

That Palmer fumble hurts. Is the the top fumbler in the NFL now?

So how much longer till the Browns surpases the Bengals in victories this year?

42 points in a half????
