Posted January 12, 201015 yr My husband and I are new here and would like to join a church on the Eastside. We are Methodist, but I would also consider going to a Presbyterian Church. We like traditional churches, but we are looking for some sort of couples group to meet people. Does anyone have any ideas?
January 12, 201015 yr Look at the churches near the Shaker Hts / Cleveland Hts border. I don't know much about them, but I believe there are a few Presbyterian churches along Fairmount. The buildings are stunningly gorgeous. I don't attend Church, but my mom attends and really likes Plymouth Church just south of Shaker Blvd and Coventry right on the Cleveland border. It is a UCC church. Non-denominational. Open and accepting. Somewhat diverse, albeit a little high on the average wealth of attendees given the location. But everyone seems down to earth, very nice and non-judgmental.
January 12, 201015 yr There's a huge, traditional-looking Methodist church on Lee Road just south of the library.
January 12, 201015 yr There is a Presb. church on Euclid in University Circle. Church of the Covenant. Big, beautiful, etc. http://www.covenantweb.org/
January 12, 201015 yr There's a huge, traditional-looking Methodist church on Lee Road just south of the library. Correct.... just north of Fairmount, where Monmouth intersects with Lee I believe. There are also a bunch of churches at the Coventry/Fairmount intersection and some heading east on Fairmount past Lee. As far as asthetics go, they are all gems.
January 12, 201015 yr Thanks! When I say traditional I mean no guitars, lights, rock bands and falling on the ground. They have a lot of those in the South. Thanks for all the advice!
January 12, 201015 yr The Methodist church on Lee Road is Church of the Savior. Here is their website: www.chsaviour.org They have several services each week and also have sermons (and maybe podcasts) posted on the website.
