NY Giants release Daniel Jones. I wouldn't be surprised if the brown's take a flyer on him. ttps://bleacherreport.com/articles/10144412-daniel-jones-cut-by-giants-after-requesting-release-amid-benching-for-tommy-devito

My gut feeling this second is they will commit to Winston next season and see what happens. I feel we will probably win enough games to play ourselves out of top draft contention and it's not exactly a great free agent or trade market next year. Which I'd be content without being ecstatic with just about. I think I'm so beaten by seeing too many utterly inept players and complete assholes quarterback the Browns and as such my standards have slipped.

Jimmy's talent is limitless - Milwaukee is truly blessed.  First, LeBron took his talents to South Beach (errrr Miami) and now Jimmy is  leaving us for Milwaukee.

Lions, one of the few teams to never be in sb.  Hmm, who else has never been there?

Clearly Winston is providing some spark to the team, but is not the long-term answer.

The upgrade in QB likeability that Jameis Winston has brought is off the charts. Night and day difference. Playing pretty well too, all things considered. I'd rather root for the QB who is entertaining and at least seemingly a good person than for a QB that is a bit better (though hasn't really shown it, at least for us) but is bringing enough personal baggage to drag the rest of the team down with him.

Regardless we need to end the revolving door at QB, pick someone and stick with him.

Browns should have stuck with Baker.

And the TOP-2 QBs in NFL HISTORY with passing yards in their first 5 games with a team are:

1) 2024 Jameis Winston: 1,680 yards
2) 2023 Joe Flacco: 1,616 yards

And both with the Browns.

More evidence that Stefanski is the man...with the right guy under center.   Imagine him with Josh Allen.

Bills vs. Chiefs I would say the home team wins.

Should be Bills then as they've already beat the Chiefs this season if they both win their respective divisions?  EDIT:  Bills have already clinched.

i know shannon and stephen a. were blasting winston after his post game, and rightly so as he is truly mr pick six over his career, but damn he is such a nice guy i just felt bad for him that he had to get up there and do it. can there be a first time for having a soft spot for a revolving door browns qb? 🎅

How much voice does Stefanski have in personnel moves (drafts, FA signings, trades, waiver wire pickups, etc)? As Bill Parcells said, "They want you to cook the dinner; at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries. Okay?"

Five players Cleveland Browns could be evaluating for 2025

Daniel Oyefusi, ESPNDec 11, 2024

The Cleveland Browns' 27-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday officially eliminated Cleveland from playoff contention, the latest blow in a disappointing season for a team that entered with hopes of a deep postseason run.

The defeat also marked the franchise's 18th 10-loss season since returning to Cleveland in 1999, the most in the NFL during that span.

Here are five young players the Browns could benefit from evaluating over the final month of the season.

Cleveland Browns

Projected first-round pick: No. 7

The Browns will have a first-round pick for the first time since 2021 and it is likely going to be a top-10 selection. Deshaun Watson's struggles since coming to Cleveland, plus his latest season-ending injury, put the quarterback position back in the spotlight. But the team will also need to use its selections to replenish an aging roster, particularly in the trenches, that has regressed from its 11 wins in 2023. -- Daniel Oyefusi

Jets owner Woody Johnson killed trade for Jerry Jeudy over Madden video game rating: Report

By Joe PantornoPosted on December 19, 2024

The New York Jets continue to add new meanings to the word “dysfunctional,” and owner Woody Johnson is holding the quill that writes them.

According to a report from The Athletic on Thursday, Johnson nixed a trade that would have seen the Jets acquire wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos last season because he thought the player’s rating in the “Madden” video game was too low.

Instead, Jeudy was sent to the Cleveland Browns where he has had a breakout season, recording career-highs in catches (70) and yards (1,052). It is the first time in the 25-year-old’s career that he has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark.

Sad, pathetic team.   Four years ago we were a bad call away from the AFC Championship with Baker.   And we took Baker over this year's MVP-in-waiting Josh Allen.  All to flush the team down the toilet with Watson. 😤

Albatross could refer to about 12 different things

Haslam is the head albatross, from which all the other albatrosses emanate.

From a redditor on r/Browns

"Here's the plan.  Draft Sanders, since Deion won't let him play for the browns. Then since he's a holdout, sign Rodgers to a $200M deal to hold the fort until Watson gets back."

God. I could see something comparable happening.

Well, the sh*tshow that was the 2024 Cleveland Browns season just mercifully ended with the latest beat- down - this time by The Ravens - for a lowly 3-14 finish.  Both offense and defense were awful this year and there’s more problems to fix than - well, pick your analogy.
The entire organization from owner to coaching to most of the players deserve a failing grade - and Cleveland fans deserve so much better.  The culture has not really changed - they’re once again one of the bottom dwellers of the league.  What else can you say about this failed franchise?
 Thank God for those Cavaliers!

Does this hunch ring true to others? The fact that head coach and front office have kept their jobs the past three years means the awful trade and bonkers DW contract  was primarily driven by the owner.  It's been unbelievably damaging to the team.

Owner(s) yes but don't forget to include Dee as she reminds all.  This 2019 ESPN inside the Browns expose is interesting to say the least. No wonder it has been hard to recruit some coaches and players. It seems the current coach and front office are safe as long as they are not confrontational and do not contribute to the chaos as many in the 2019 story. We hope things are better today for the sake of players and fans.

Fascinating soap opera read for Browns fans over all like this (if true): "We just don't know what we are doing," Dee said in the office around that time, according to multiple sources in the building, a refrain they had heard her utter before but that she denied through a team spokesman. "If we'd known how hard it would be, we never would have bought the team."

You can probably bet the farm on it.

The Haslams also gave us great football decisions like Johnny Football and picking Baker Mayfield over Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson (ok well Baker wasn't the worst ever...)

I've got a hunch that lady doesn't like the city whatsoever.

Though the value is up 500+% since 2012. Hell of an ROI.

Spoiler alert: Just search "worst trade in nfl history" lol. Any GM or coach that would have initiated and orchestrated that would have been fired into the sun by now.

Failing upwards.  Its amazing how the rich seem to win no matter what.

Picking second in the draft. Four months now of will or won't we draft a QB on top of the Watson stuff. You couldn't script it.

Probably Cam Ward. I can't imagine they'll take Deon's son and all his baggage.

Interesting that Deion denied he publicly said Shedur would not go to Cleveland:

but then muddied the water:

When asked if Deion would step in to avoid Sanders going into a bad situation, the Colorado head coach said: “Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly. I’m going to do it privately.”

It will be interesting to see if Deion ‘privately’ steps in to stop his son going to either the Titans or Browns.

I'm starting to think that maybe the city should win the Modell lawsuit and force the Haslams to sell. Otherwise, how does this endless nightmare have a happy ending??

The championship the following year was with Paul Brown's players. After that, Art Modell's erosion of an elite sports franchise set in, with Jim Brown quitting after Modell's ultimatum, Paul Warfield getting traded and Mike Phipps being drafted. Despite that, Cleveland fans stayed loyal even after Modell ripped our hearts out in 1995. We were "rewarded" with a crap expansion team that has mostly stunk under more p!ss-poor owners.
