I expect that from you.  I'm talking about the other fall off the bandwagon complainers.

i'm not fair weather, and i'll always be a fan, i'm just done being a season ticket holder.  I'd be better off walking down to the stadium every sunday and handing some pan handler $50 to repeatedly kick me in the crotch.

I wear a size 14/15.  ;D

Cheering Anderson's injury was wrong, but it was very much a minority of the fans doing it.  I cheered Dorsey when he came out 2 minutes later.  I hope that is not what they are talking about.

I've decided to wear other Cleveland team wear to the NYC Browns backers bar for the rest of the season, because this pathetic excuse for a football team clearly does not deserve any fan recognition.

Out of curiosity, how do you find a Brown's Backer club?  I would imagine they have websites?  A friend of mine moved out to Colorado and was wondering if he could meet some people and watch the Browns at the same time.  (not that it would be a very enjoyable experience the rest of the year :-P)

[snark on]  I swear all you have to do is search on the internet of if you're a real fan go directly to the browns website and lo-and-behold:

Wow...touchy touchy!  I did some searching and found those.  I didn't see it on their website at first pass and was just asking because someone had asked me a couple of months ago.

Edit:  BTW...thank you for posting the links!

The Cleveland Browns are an entertainment product. When the product becomes defective or otherwise inferior to substitutes, you cease buying the inferior product. Perhaps you buy into a superior alternative. But brand loyalty has its limitations.

Oh don't get upppity with me Mister!

I'm brand loyal.

The product needs a new product director and product offering.

Or is it that the consumer is not right for the product market?

Browns are working out Bruce Gradkowski, maybe Tim Couch is still available?

"We're not putting Josh in," said Anderson. "You guys are smoking crack. Because we're playing bad doesn't mean we're going to put a receiver at quarterback."

I don't smoke crack but I'd like to see Josh take a few snaps for the hell of it. You never know and it would be entertaining to see how he does. Don't forget this is an entertainment business and so far it hasn't been that. The season is over. Why waste positioning in the draft now?

Honey, I would go out there before I agree to let Couch back in!

This a question for everybody out there on the Cowher band wagon. What ( or who) does the Jaw bring besides a no nonsense coaching style that will really help the team. Cowher has a Ring and a winning record, but while he was in Pittsburgh he had the support of the Rooney Organization and a defensive team that is based upon running the ball and Dick LaBeau's defense most of those years.

I think that this year with Baltimore's and Miami's success, and Mike Tomlin hitting the ground running in Pittsburgh last year, show the importance of quality O and D coordinators. The Browns have a rookie D coordinator and and a 2nd year  O coordinator which means the problems go deeper than RAC. I think both Chud and Tucker have shown great potential but they have made their share of on the job training mistakes.Like veering from the game plan.RAC pretty much wasted 2 seasons of his tenure withe the Maurice Carthon fiasco, so he is to blame for much of this mess.

So who will Cowher bring with him to right this ship?

Who says we need someone to right the ship?

As I stated earlier, are EXPECTATIONS, based on last seasons record setting us up for DISAPPOINTMENT this year?  That's exactly what has happened.

The Browns are a 8-8/7-9 team.  Period.

Last year Romeo was a hero, now he should be hanged??? Please, people get over yourselves!

Wow KJP you are a JADED BROWNS FAN.

You can appreciate this then. While we were waiting for the bus after the Baltimore game somebody told a ten year kid find a new team to like because it will be easier than all those years of the Brown breaking your heart.

I guess that is my point, what does bring somebody like Cowher do for the team when they have so many other problems. I am actually leaning towards keeping RAC and seeing how this plays out next year.

^I think there's a certain value to bringing in someone who's a known commodity.  Cowher has the perception of being tough and a winner.  Players want to play for a coach like that, so it could help with free agent signings.  Also, he clearly knows how the Steelers organization functions, what it takes to be successful perennially (outside of merely existing in the same division as both the Browns and Bengals).  Assuming that Lerner actually wants the team to win, bringing in a guy like Cowher and telling him "run this place like you did Pittsburgh and be sure to point out anything we're doing wrong as an organization," might actually help.

then that undermines the executives.

^I disagree.  I think this team AND organization needs the experience of a steady hand.  First-time GM, first-time head coach, first-time coordinators.  I'm not saying the answer is Cowher, but I also think the experience of someone "who's been there before" is needed and doesn't undermines anyone.  Check the egos at the door.

What's Charlie Frye doing these days?

Wow KJP you are a JADED BROWNS FAN.

Following the Browns for the past 30 years will do that to anyone. The fact that I still turn the TV on each Sunday in each Fall should color me the ultimate optimist. Self-mutilation would be less painful if I cared as much for the Browns as I once did.

Preach on!  Preach on!

3rd string QB for the Seattle Seahawks.  He played a few games this season and did as poorly as when he was a Brown.

Understood.

At this point I still care but I am forcing myself not to get involved.

How about those Cavs?

ESPN insider says the Browns are considering Marty Schottenheimer if they can't get Cowher.

I am not sure how serious they are about Marty.  It sounds liek they leaked his name so they could listen in on the buzz amongst fans to see if they are interested in Marty.

I think I would take him over Cowher.

Well we know you listen to the Rizzo show, because that exact comment was made on there haha.

ESPN insider says the Browns are considering Marty Schottenheimer if they can't get Cowher.

They have been talking about that for a while now.  His son, who is the offensive coordinator for the Jets, actually wants the job.  He interviewed with Baltimore last year, and obviously didn't get it.  He would however in my mind be a terrible choice for the Browns for Head Coach.  If Marty comes though, I am sure he will also come to the organization in some capacity.  My first choice has been Billick for a while now.  As far a Cowher, no where near what this team needs.  Sure, he has a ring, but he had some unbelievable teams in the past.  He should have about 5 rings based on the talent pool surrounding the team...and I think any Steelers fan would agree with that statemant.

^ You could make the same case for Billick.

I thought it was marty Schottenheimer's son they were looking at

I thought it was marty Schottenheimer's son they were looking at

He would come as the o-coordinator and "eventually take over as head coach."

^ You could make the same case for Billick.

You could say the same thing for Marty, or Jim Kelly for that matter.  I think all of the candidates have the potential and it just proves how hard it is to win it all.  Billick is a good coach and all, but it makes me ill to think of him on the Browns sideline!  Cowher was the coach of a rival, but Billick was the coach of our stolen team!  I personally think he comes off as a jerk too, but that doesn't matter.  I like Cowher, he is younger than Marty, and I think it would secretly kill Steelers fans to see him in Orange and Brown.  I wouldn't be dissapointed with Marty either.

aww heck cowher was a brown too, i'd go with him.

kelly, i hadnt heard that name in the mix, interesting at least. hey, a huddle-less offensive may help the woeful browns o! cant hurt.

agree about billick, although its a shame to write somebody off just because of those kinds of associations, but i cant help it either. eh.

marty brings a lot of baggage + not sure he has the hungry enough heart for it anymore, but no i wouldnt be disappointed w/ him either.

with all this talk about coaching, who says its the coach.

Hell are defensive sucks

MARTY = NO.. If you want a bunch of 11-5 seasons with first round losses.. then you want him..

At least Cowher has a respectable playoff record unlike Marty.

Marty would simply come back for a year or two to help his son get the head coaching job.

I only count 2 first round losses for Marty in Cleveland, 1 of them was an 8-8 record with Bernie as a rookie, the other 10-6 with his quarterbacks out.

MARTY = NO.. If you want a bunch of 11-5 seasons with first round losses.. then you want him..

Are you kidding me???  At this point, I'll GLADLY take a bunch of 11-5 seasons.  That would beat the hell out of watching the type of games I'm seeing now.  It would be funny if they picked him up and became good all of a sudden, since they haven't been consistently successful since he left.  Anyway, Marty is my second choice behind Cowher.

Cleveland Browns (4-9) at Philadelphia Eagles (7-5-1), 8:30 p.m. ET Monday

The Browns mercifully play their fifth and final prime-time game of the 2008 season on "Monday Night Football" when they travel to play the Philadelphia Eagles. It will be the Browns' (4-9) third Monday game of the season.

Cleveland was expected to be a team on the rise when the NFL and its television partners decided to give the Browns five prime-time games after a 10-6 run in 2007. But it's been mostly a train-wreck season for the Browns where everything has gone wrong and they've lost 9 of 13 games.

What he said. Lets just get out of this year and get a high draft pick (or did we trade our first rounder?) Anyways, maybe the league will realize we cannot handle a tough schedule like this and give us a schedule like last year.

Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the Baltimore Ravens, clinching the 2008 AFC North championship

Uh, thanks for letting us know. We're overjoyed.

Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the Baltimore Ravens, clinching the 2008 AFC North championship

The Steelers can choke on one.  And then choke in the playoffs while they're at it.

Let's face it: Pittsburgh owns the Browns

It utterly pains me to admit it, but I'm green with envy of Pittsburgh Steelers fans.

Since the return of the Cleveland Browns in 1999, most Browns fans have realized the Steelers have been running circles around our boys in brown and orange and laughing at us in the process. We've realized it — Browns fans are masochists, not idiots — but most of us just haven't admitted it publicly.

Thanks again.  Nothing like a good ole Steelers fan.  I guess we didn't get enough black & gold on our noses the first time you rubbed our faces in it.

The only joy Browns fans will be getting this year is watching the Stillers meltdown in the playoffs.

Leave Romeo in Philadelphia, or even better, book his trip back to a remote desert island instead of Cleveland.

Can we just cancel the last two games? Or at least the last one against the Steelers.  Please. I can't watch another beating like last night.

^ I'm thinking that the Bengals will beat them this week, at home.

Don't take it personally, FrqntFlyr... just some playful "trash talk"... I have nothing but respect for Browns Backers
