Misery loves company. This could be one of the ugliest games of the year.

Going to the game tomorrow.. yet asking myself right now.. why am I going to freeze my ass off to watch horrible football?

Answer: I'm a Browns fan, and I love tailgating.

I am just going tailgaiting. Once the bloody marys are gone, I will head home for a hot bath and a nap.  I will think of you all as I drift off, with warm furnace cats surrounding me. The weather is going to be terrible

Walked 2 blocks down lakeside. Windchill too much. Turned around and went home. Bloody Mary at home solo. Guess I am not a Clevelander yet

WOW  I had no idea the Browns have went 20 quarters without a TD.

Lots of reports of Sean Smith knocking out Brady Quinn either by sucker punch or with a weight.

^ I saw that on profootballtalk.com.  Do you have any other links to it anywhere?

Is it next next season yet?

That is the most exiting news I have heard about the browns in a while

I was on wkyc.com and saw a blurb about it.  The Browns forum on cleveland.com has also been talking about it

^ If that really happen why was there no arrest?

arrest? lol.  Steve smith from the panthers threw a punch in practice and knocked out their safety for 2 weeks.  This happens all the time on every team.  Its a violent sport.

You're exactly right. At least we didn't shoot ourselves in the leg.

except i wouldnt say that dumazz plaxico being out is exactly hurting the giants....i'd much rather have that if we were 12-3!!

speaking of shooting, i think romeo 100% for sure signed & sealed his death warrant as the brown's coach with that cinci fiasco:

Browns Insider: Crennel wants a chance to defend his work before Lerner

Romeo Crennel is optimistic that his team could turn around a bad season into something memorable in 2009. "I do know that we won 10 last year when everybody stayed pretty healthy," he said. "I think if we can keep guys healthy, we'll be a very competitive football team."

We had tickets and when we were confronted with effectively the same Q&A, we decided to just taigate in my freind's backyard.  Woke up early, took the cooler outside, deep fried turkeys, grilled some burgers, stood outside listening to the pre-game radio show...then went inside and watched the game.  I think it was a good decision (and the wives were especially happy).

Meanwhile, I think this thread should be locked based on pincipal.  The Cavs are playing out of their mind right now, are perhaps the best team in history, and yet we're still talking about the Browns who have been the worst team in football the last month.  The Lions would easily beat us....I mean, the Bengals just did.

this thread should remain open as it has been.

Win or Lose I love my Browns!

A dozen other cities would kill to have a losing NFL team!

I was being facetious...frustrated the Cavs aren't getting as much attention as the crappy Browns, not only on this forum, but local talk radio and TV as well.

HUSH!  Don't do that! :P  :P

I think the Cavs get plenty of love.  It's the last week of the season and the playoff around the corner.  Also the BCS bowl games are a week away.  Once those are over, Basketball will be the dominate sport until late March.

Mangini officially hired...

Cleveland Browns reach contract terms with Eric Mangini as head coach

by Tony Grossi and Mary Kay Cabot/Plain Dealer Reporters

Wednesday January 07, 2009, 6:25 PM

CLEVELAND --- The Browns have agreed to terms on a contract with Eric Mangini to be their next head coach, a league source said Wednesday.

Mangini, fired by the Jets last week, will be introduced in a press conference Thursday morning.

Mangini, who turns 38 on Jan. 19, was the first of four candidates interviewed by Lerner to replace Romeo Crennel. Mangini was fired by the New York Jets on Dec. 29, the day after the Jets lost their final game and were eliminated from the AFC playoffs.

Honestly, I like it.

A guy who will smack a player like Braylon Edwards in the mouth the second he starts his BS rants about Cleveland not liking him because he went to that school up north.

welcome to the AFC North, Man-Genius.  Hope you enjoy getting smacked by the Steelers twice every season!

Congratulations to the AFC North... which has sent two representatives to the AFC Championship game!

At wide receiver, LeBrown James

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer 3 hours, 49 minutes ago

CLEVELAND (AP)—LeBron James once dreamed of playing in the NFL. He did for 30 seconds.

In a television commercial debuting Sunday for State Farm Insurance, James, a former star wide receiver in high school, suits up for the Cleveland Browns.

A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, James wears a brown No. 23 Browns jersey with “LeBron” on the back. The spot was recently shot at the University of Akron’s indoor training facility and will be shown will during Sunday’s AFC and NFC championship games.

this apart of his state farm endorsement, what does this have to do with the Browns?  This is urban bar stuff.

Anything that isn't bad news is welcome!

Left in a stupor: If woeful Cardinals actually prove to be Super, can Browns live down the shame?

The first time I set foot in the Arizona Cardinals' press box, it was in Tempe, Ariz., at Sun Devil Stadium. It was the highest spot from which I ever watched a game.

"That's so you can see that beautifully conceived Buddy Ryan offense unfold right before your eyes," a friend at an Arizona newspaper said of the former Cardinals coach.

I've always thought about this myself... would the City of Cleveland have a Lombardi Trophy today if the Old Browns would have stayed?

The 'What If' Showdown: Are Ravens proof of old Browns' greatness in waiting?

by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter

Saturday January 17, 2009, 6:47 PM

CLEVELAND --- Either Pittsburgh or Baltimore will go to another Super Bowl after Sunday's North Division showdown in the AFC Championship Game in Heinz Field.

It would be the Steelers' seventh Super Bowl appearance, second since 2005.

It would be the Ravens' second Super Bowl appearance, each coming since Art Modell moved the old Browns to Baltimore in 1996.

Ravens' Kokinis hired as Browns GM

Associated Press

Updated: January 25, 2009, 7:14 PM ET

CLEVELAND -- Baltimore pro personnel director George Kokinis has been hired as Cleveland's general manager, reuniting him with new Browns coach and close friend Eric Mangini.

Kokinis, who began his NFL career as an intern in the Browns' operations department in 1991, was hand-picked by Mangini, who recommended him during his first interview with Browns owner Randy Lerner on Dec. 30. Mangini took over as Cleveland's coach on Jan. 7, just one week after he was fired following three seasons with the New York Jets.

Shaun Rogers wants out...Let me illustrate whats wrong here.  Aside from the whining that football players do...the browns are just mismanaged from the top. Randy Lerner may be a nice guy, but he cant own this organization, it trickles all the way down.  Look at the PIttsburgh Steelers, i never hear any of them want out...they have a great owner in Dan rooney, who loves and respects his coach, who then loves and respects his players.  Rooney is very active and passionate toward that team.  OR we can stay in town and look at the cavs.  I would say Dan Gilbert is one of the best owners out there, and i cant find one guy on the cavs who isnt happy.  Maybe Andy wants more money and to start, but he keeps his mouth shut and plays.  Ferry is happy, Mike Brown is happy, the players are happy.  Until Browns get new ownership, they arent going to win a super bowl. Sorry Browns fans.

^ The story.  If that's the case why he wants out, that's some pretty petty stuff.

Browns tackle Shaun Rogers reportedly wants off team, upset with new coach Eric Mangini

by Mary Kay Cabot / Plain Dealer Reporter

Wednesday February 25, 2009, 3:07 AM

Browns Pro Bowl defensive tackle Shaun Rogers is so disgruntled with new coach Eric Mangini and the new regime that he's asked the team not to pay his guaranteed $6 million option bonus next month, nfl.com's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday night.

I have a feeling this will smooth over.. it happened with Mangini in NY, and I'm sure things will cool down here.

"Rogers is reportedly miffed about two off-season incidents in which he feels Mangini snubbed him. The first time, Mangini walked into the Browns' training room and didn't say hello to Rogers, the source said. The second time, Mangini and Rogers were together in the media room at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards on Jan. 23 and neither acknowledged the other."

This is a joke, right?  This guy is this thin skinned that he wants off the team because of this?

H eprobably wants off the team because he is tired of losing.

Why are we even wasting our time on this poor excuse for a franchise?  Lets focus on the positives in the Gateway district.

^Let him go.  He is a hell of a player, but if he is this big of a beyatch, then I want him off.  Clear the team of all these primadonnas.

**Althought I hope this isn't a trend with Mangini, one where players look at him like he's a d!ck.  Not saying I want a Romeo hand-holder, but you have to be somewhat personable.

Browns trade Kellen Winslow to Tampa Bay

BEREA -- The Cleveland Browns have traded tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undisclosed draft picks.

"The Cleveland Browns thank Kellen for his contributions to this organization over the past five years," said Browns General Manager George Kokinis in a press release. "We appreciate his passion for the game and wish him success in Tampa Bay. The draft picks we have obtained through this deal will give us greater flexibility as we look to infuse more talent and create competition and depth on this football team."

The Browns selected Winslow with the sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. In his five years in Cleveland, he played in 44 games, recording 219 receptions for 2,459 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2006, he caught 89 passes for 875 yards and 3 touchdowns, and in 2007 he went to the Pro Bowl after catching 82 passes for 1,106 yards and 5 touchdowns. He played in 10 games in 2008, catching 43 passes for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns.
