ugh.

Both teams suck.

^How so? The been in every game this year to the last play of the game in the losses.

^Yeah except for the Titans, Texans, 49ers, and (1st) Bengals games.

So sick of this team losing in the same or similar fashion all the time..beating themselves, not threading the needle when it really counts and getting beat on one or two plays...  same mistakes. One of a few things that come to mind. Employ a third down defense that stops the other team when it really counts the most! This offense starts off moving..then sputters.. and what the hell was with that punting on 4th and one!

Long snapper needs to go! Phil Dawson should have tied for the record for most 50+ yard field goals in a single season today. Instead, ignorant fans will blame him for the loss. Its a shame.

Pontbriand is done, what a total meltdown he's had this season.

^The bad snap against St. Louis was not his fault.  Sure, he had a bad day today, but he's an all-pro snapper.  He'll work it out.

Yeah, that one wasnt his fault. Hes been off though. He has had a lot of high snaps, and misdirected snaps, that havent lead to missed kicks. Somethings off with him lately.

^Tennis elbow....

A least it was a watchable game yesterday. That's all that I am asking for at this point.

Little was interfered with, rather clearly, on the final third down play.  If he catches it, or they make the call, it's a first down, they can kill some more time, and Dawson has a shorter attempt.

It's not really that common that one call changes a game that severely, but this one did.

The NFL desperately needs full time officials.

Cincy doesn't suck.  They are far from an elite team, but that is a solid squad.  As he matures, AJ Green will be better than Ochostinko ever was.  That play he made at the end of the game can only be made by maybe one or two other recievers in this league.  Dalton just chucked it up there and let him make the play.  It wasn't the catch that was so impressive, but the fact that he was able to get all of those YAC yards without missing a step after pratically having to go in the air and reverse his body fully outstrethed to make the catch.  I can see why we wanted him so bad in the draft.

It was nice to have Hillis back, but he clearly is not in game shape yet.  Nor does he have any rythym with the offensive line.

Little needs to switch his brand of stickum.  His drops were both flagrant and very impactful on the outcome of the game.  I understand that he is a converted running back who didn't play his last year of college, but I worry that hands are kind of like speed in that they can't be coached.... you either have them or you don't.  We are going to find out a lot about his mental toughness in next week's game.

We need a fourth impact player on the DL.  Our other three (Rubin, Taylor and Sheard) are too good to have that glaring weakness on the right side and allow other lines to tilt towards our playmakers.

^ Well said Hts.

Pontbriand is done, what a total meltdown he's had this season.

Looks like we wont have to worry about another bad snap from him. Goodbye Pontbraind, sorry it had to end this way. Hope the new guy does a good job!

This defense is so laughable I swear :-D, you know what they're doing but they still seem to get 8 yards a pop running the ball. Safties suck, linebackers with the exception of Jackson suck, and old man Sheldon Brown couldn't even cover an elderly woman with a hip replacement, smh dude is straight garbage.

"I don't know why he wants people to see that, it was pretty obvious" lmao, wdf was the cb Petterson doing. I hate when a play obviously makes a penalty and whines like he didn't do nothing but that was priceless hahaha

The defense didn't play to bad today, made stops when they had to at times but the offense is the real problem. Granted we had alot of dropped passed today that really didn't help McCoy out, McCoy didn't help himself out. I'm already looking to next year and I hate that :\, we have so many needs to fill in, idk where as in positions we fill in first :'(

Our run defense is terrible

Offensive line is terrible

Receivers terrible

QB questionable

No kick returner(sorry cribbs is done)

They might be tanking games at this point.  Cardinals is the last one that's remotely winnable and I kinda hope we don't.  Our draft position isn't nearly good enough yet.  Thank heavens Miami and Carolina are picking up steam.  Unfortunately, the Rams will be getting Blackmon no matter what we do.  Also unfortunately, none of the QB's behind Luck are all that exciting.

If the Rams think Blackmon is going to save them, they're dreaming. Bradford has been demolished for two straight seasons a la Tim Couch. He's talented but his window is closing.

We need Blackmon and I'd almost be willing to trade up to get him, but not a trade like the one we were just on the other side of. We'll be close, it shouldn't be too expensive. After that, give me a new linebacking corps and clone Joe Haden.

They might be tanking games at this point.

Players and coaches have too much on the line to "tank" games.  They're just not good after injuries and zero depth.  Top 3 picks... WR, RT and LB.

No kick returner(sorry cribbs is done)

I think part of that is a reduced emphasis on special teams under Shurmer. He's not getting the blocks he used to, though I agree he's aging and slowing down.

OMG... Really?? Athletes at this level are far too competitive to tank games.

Hello? Anybody still care????

Browns lost. Again. If anybody cares.

I turned it off at half time because I know what comes after the defense starts making the other team look unstoppable.

Anybody else think Seneca looks like a prick who doesn't give a shit?

It wasn't that bad of a game so I don't know why anyone would turn it off at midway lol. Maybe its me because aren't really that much invested since befor the game even happens, I already know the outcome. To sum up the game tho, I really do think we would've won if it wasn't for that bullshid fumble called on Seneca Wallace smh. He moved the ball purdy well, even made some big time throws at time. The D didn't play too bad either. With this said we really need to take a Qb and wideout with the first two picks in this years draft, all in all wasn't bad of a game.

lol, how did he look like a prick that didn't look like he wanted to win ? To me he wanted to win just as much as the next guy, just my opinion tho. Point is, he doesn't have that much big game started talent the same as McCoy, hence all the losses D:. He is definately not the answer which everyone knows but McCoy isn't either, I love the kid with his heart and all but it takes more then heart to win a game.

^ Hahah well either he is the calmest player ever, or he doesn't care. He never showed any emotion, whether something good happened, or something bad happened. He carried the same blank face the entire game.

With McCoy you see excitement or extreme disappointment. He definitely wants to win bad. You cant question his heart, like you said.

yeah, I agree with you there lol, I want all of our guys to show some passion or the want to win like McCoy shows but point blank this team is soft :-D. That fumble that got challenged and revearsed (bull), they put the cam on Seneca many times which he was showcasing frustration and relief when we only gave up the fg. I would love if Seneca got mad and went off like Milton Bradly lol, but I guess that's not him which im not worried because he isn't our furture, thank god lol.

Anybody else think Seneca looks like a prick who doesn't give a sh!t?

Possibly a little bit.  This is his 9th season in the league, and he probably views himself as a backup that can not identify himself with any team in the NFL.

In any event, I think Colt is a tough player, and would love to see him around the organization as a backup for years to come.  I know we will need him at some point.  The issue is the draft this year is loaded with stud QB's in the first and second round.  I think we have to bite.  I don't know if surrounding McCoy with better receivers will do much.

One thing that Seneca had going for him is that the line was actually blocking for him. He had more time that game than McCoy the entire season.

Reasons im holding off being done with McCoy:

1. Offensive line has played terrible. Gives him no time to throw.

2. WR's are a joke. Cant get open, and drop far too many passes.

3. Our running game has been non existent, besides the two games for Ogbonnaya, who they wont let play.

I thought the play calling was crap. Too predictable and too cautious, and they over relied on Hillis in the second half. The AZ defense was able to adjust to him, but we kept sending him up the middle like he was going to be a surprise.

Seneca looked pretty good. He stayed calm, which I view as a positive. I'd rather have a QB that stays calm when the game goes poorly than one that gets emotionally invested in the game and feels too despondent to play well after stuff happens.

The O line held up better than usual, but that might have been more about AZ's defense than anything else.

In general I liked how the defense played, but there were several plays that showed a lack of communication about who was covering whom.

I thought Seneca looked pretty good as well.  He's not the future, but he clearly has a better arm (both strength and accuracy IMO) than McCoy.

I think Seneca cares about winning.  I saw him get angry in the second half after being pressured and losing yards three straight plays.  I also saw him pump his first when Hillis scored a TD.  Shurmur doesn't show much emotion either but I know he would LOVE to win.  He's a Pro and a competitor.

I watched the game and thought it was very entertaining and a tad frustrating at times.  They showed some heart and maintained their draft position... although I will take a win any day.

I don't think they were embarrassed against that Pennsylvania team either, they lost but looked somewhat competent.  I'm not giving up on McCoy, Shurmer, Holmgren, Heckert or Lerner - I'm still backing them 100% with hopes that they turn this team around given some time.  I'd really love to see some stability for this franchise.

Watching four guys trying to pull him down reminded me of something in a gladiator movie.

Or Cirque de Soleil

That was just Phil making sure we don't F up our draft position for his boy from Baylor - RG3

At the end of the 1st half, Seneca showed why he is a career back up

^LOL Thanks I needs a good laugh this morning. My kids started waking us up around 4:30. I managed to hold them off until 6:15. Santa went to bed around 2:00. Oy!

And I open the paper to a negative convention center article and a Larkin anti- choo choo piece.

Don't feed the trolls, please!

Wow, a big yawn on the Browns' last game of the season. Not a single comment here. I suspect that IS the commentary! Browns continue to make themselves irrelevant to an increasing number of young people who have no idea what this town was like when the Browns were a winning team. Remember the Cavs of just a few years ago? Or the Indians of the mid- to late-1990s? Comparing the electricity going through this city from those runs to a consistently winning Browns team is like touching your tongue to a 9-volt battery versus sticking your tongue into a wall socket. OK, slight exaggeration!! But what isn't an exaggeration is that the Browns have caused young people to turn elsewhere to cheer for other sports or, for football teams in other cities. I wonder if they'll ever come back. I wonder if I'll come back even if winning Browns football ever comes back?

I watched today's game.  I liked the effort but I wish they would have beaten those turds.  They had lots of opportunities, especially with TWO late turnovers.  MoMass was really disappointing, Greg Little didn't exist.  Seneca's 27 yard scramble was great.... it's a shame the team couldn't get those last 4 yards.  The defense played a very nice game, did Cleveland proud.  I love watching Sheard and Rubin!

It was a fun game to watch, all the way up to the last moments.  I can't wait to see how the draft and free agency plays out.  I'm not so down on the Browns right now.  I read a comment earlier that their schedule turned out to be the 6th toughest.

Wow, someone does care! That's one post!

We can all start dreaming again about  the future after the draft -- just like we do every year. :)

Do you ever check the ESPN power rankings?  Don't James Walker's snarky comments make you want to stick a fork in your face??

well im relatively young and a browns fan, only experienced one play off appearance when we lost to shitsburgh in the wild card berth game and could see myself never rooting for another team even tho its frustrating being a fan at times :-o. The game wasn't to bad but after seeing nothing but field gpals this entire year is rather sickning  defense I thought played really good with the exception of the ninja turtles elderly grandfather S.Brown (can't stand this dude lol). I found myself lost many times yesterday wanting us to secure a top draft spot lol, but couldn't help but root for us to pull out the win. Hopefully I can get out of this mentality where having to look forward to the draft by week 5 :\

BIGGEST NEEDS

playmakers at any position preferably on O

QB

WR

right side of the oline lol

OLB

CB

outside pass rusher

FS

RB

Just not much to say about this team. Sports are supposed to be fun distractions from the real world; these guys, the coaches, the medical staff, the president, and the absentee owner fail at that on every level.

But I'm mostly apathetic at this point. Not even angry or frustrated.

With a half-way decent offense that can keep them off the field for longer than 2 minutes, this defense can be very good (especially when TJ comes back healhty.  The offense, on the other hand, is a mess IMO.  I never liked the idea of running a West Coast system here in Cleveland, given our tradition, the location of our stadium, and the division we play in.  Moreover, we don't have the pieces that fit the offense.  That all starts with a quarterback.  Figuring out what we will do at QB is the biggest ? going into this off-season.

I'm done with Colt.  He may develop into a solid starter in this league, but he will never be the franchise QB a super bowl contending team (with VERY few exceptions) needs.  If the Browns feel the same (which I believe they do), the two options will be to draft a QB, trade for one, or sign one as a free agent.  With Matt Barkely going back to USC and us picking #4 in the draft, there choice at the top will be limited to RGIII (if he is still there when they pick).  Everything I have heard and read says that H&H do not have much interest in him as they don't think he is a good fit for their system.  If we draft a QB, I would expect it to be in the 2nd round with a prospect like Tannenhill or Cousins.  An interesting option would open up if the Rams change coaching and mgt and the new regime falls in love with RGIII.  That would turn Sam Bradford into trade bait and we all know how much H&H fell in love with him leading up to last year's draft.  Via the free agency route, there really is one name worth discussing - Matt Flynn - and he just played his way into Matt Schaub type money

I care, but there's nothing useful to say at this point. I'd probably part ways with Massaquoi, promote Little to #1, find a new #2 and go with Cribbs as #3/occasional RB. I'd debate keeping Hillis for the right price, and I'd make sure that Lauvao and Pinkston are backups, not starters. And, sorry to say, we need a QB. Unless Justin Blackmon (WR) is there when we draft, RG3 quickly becomes the obvious choice. If they're both gone, well, I have no idea.

Defensively, we're better. Not good, but significantly better. I like Jauron. Sheard was the best pick we made this year. Taylor is alright, but Rubin has actually outplayed him so far. I think we need a high draft pick at CB or Safety, and I'd prefer another rushing DE to pair with Sheard, but it's not a priority unless one falls into our hands.

I am not impressed by Shurmur. But, I have some faith in Tom Heckert.

We can take two useful things from yesterday's game. First, Josh Cribbs can actually be a pretty good WR. He ran good routes and fought like a wildcat for extra yards. I have never given him much credit as a WR before, even while I kept the faith on his return abilities (and was rewarded, finally, last week). That's good to know. Second, Hillis can still run. He's not a dominant presence, but he is at least serviceable and we know he has good hands and can block. I'd keep him, Madden curse and all, because A) Hardesty has not shown anything and B) Trent Richardson may not be worth the high pick.

I predict that was the last game we're going to win this season. We may have a shot at beating Phoenix, but since it's an away game I feel more confident that my prediction will come true.

I sure wish we could have beaten St. Louis last week so we could have five wins this season -- for the third year in a row.

Yes, I know I'm being a debbie downer. But rest assured that my predictions suck.

BTW, please see my prediction from Nov. 21 which proved to be correct! Yes, a blind squirrel can find an occasional acorn. That was our last shot at a win except for Arizona. I don't remember anyone else here predicting 4-12 for this team, but I should have put some money on it! :-D
