Or Jacksonville and Houston?

Or, better yet, head-to-head.  That is the most reliable measuring stick.

I hate to feed this ridiculousness but this a good read:

Worry About Johnny Manziel’s Weight, Not His Height

On the other hand, Manziel was projected to go higher in the draft. It’s possible that he was unfairly dinged for his height, but not dinged enough for his weight.

If the Browns had selected Manziel with the eighth pick, my model’s size-weight adjustment (which is basically a weight adjustment, since height didn’t meet the threshold for inclusion), would make him about as likely to be successful as a No. 16 pick. That would match up pretty well with the Browns’ actual draft day decisions: to pass on Manziel with the eighth pick, but then to trade up to take him with the 22nd.

So WJW-Fox 8 in Cleveland sent Little John Ranaldi, co-host of the Big Chuck & Lil' John Show that ran on Cleveland TV for 28 years until 2007, to the Cincinnati Bengals press conference today and asked Coach Marvin Lewis the first question -- how the height of Manziel vs Hoyer will affect his preparation?

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

^ When I first saw that I just assumed it was Johnny in a bald cap trying to make the conversation all about himself, but I guess that explanation makes a bit more sense.

I didn't know Little John was old enough to be on tv that long. Might consider drafting some younger blood.

I'm a Bengals fan, but I cringe when the Cincy posters talk shit in this thread.  Come on guys...the Bengals have had as much post season success as the Browns for as long as I can remember. And that would be none.  Can't we unite and just double down on hating the Steelers and Ravens?

I'm just being silly re: the "midget" thing. But I do remember when the Bengals had significantly more post-season success, i.e. 1989. Though it's true they couldn't seal the deal. And we've certainly won the AFC North a lot more times recently. You can say that's irrelevant if you like, but there it is.

Lately? Won the division last year. Won the division 3 times in the past decade. Won the division four times since Cleveland last did. Gone to the Superbowl twice since Cle....oh wait.

Hahah look at the last 6 comments in the thread - the Cinci guys are basically in here arguing by themselves.  Oye  :-o

They're running out of virtual set to contain them all over at NFL Network.

Exactly. You've never seen Raw?

Was that addressed to you and do you know what this means? Or perhaps you are his attorney? As the answer for both is "no" then I am confused why you feel obliged to comment on it.

Maybe instead of useless QB comparisons, we should discuss how each team played against common opponents like Pittsburgh and Indianapolis?

Or Jacksonville and Houston?

Or the first game against the bungals.  What a smack down!  By Q3 the other one's left in PBS were Browns fans.

Cleveland Browns fans show up in force in Cincinnati

Nothing new there.  The first game at Paul Brown Stadium was at least 1/3 Browns fans, and that doesn't include the 20-25% wearing Kentucky "Couch" jerseys.

They actually ran out of bus parking.

My primary point was that, while it was asserted that this thread had become an argument among Bengals fans, the Bengals thread had become an argument among Browns fans.

So you were arguing with a Browns fan in the Bengals thread? Good. That's precisely the point I was making!

How can a tree falling in the forest make a sound if there's no one there to hear it? How can a quarterback see his receiver if he's a midget? How can one hand clap?

I don't know, man. It's all to deep for me.

Kicker Billy Cundiff waived, replacement Garrett Hartley signed by Cleveland Browns

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Billy Cundiff's missed 40-yard field goal proved to be the difference in the Browns' 25-24 loss to the Colts last week, and they weren't about to let it happen again Sunday against the Bengals.

Not with the AFC North playoffs on the line and not during Johnny Manziel's big debut at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Browns parted waived Cundiff Saturday and signed Garrett Hartley, who once went 3-for-3 in a Super Bowl victory for the Saints.

Love returning the favor.

Yeah..,

If we get another surprise win against either the Bengals at home (it would actually surprise me if we lost that game)

Did you forget that game is at 1 p.m. on a Sunday?

The Browns series provides a perfect example of 1pm Sunday vs. any other day/time.

I'm starting to think that we're not very good at playing football.

The Browns look several drafts away from being any good.

I'm not sure how they're perpetually so bad...but they are.

I didn't think there was any way Johnny Manziel could look any worse than Hoyer has been the last few weeks. All I can say is wow! I was at the game with friends and I just stood up and walked out of the stadium in the third quarter.

Part of it was Manziel's rookie inexperience.  Part of it was all the bulletin board material Johnny has given opponents with the Money Phone, the hot tub with the hot babes in Vegas, Learjet rides, etc., etc., etc...

This the same team that was 7-4 at one point. The problem is the quarterback. Manziel looked worse than Hoyer. More draft picks won't help anything

Sooo.. Hoyer gave us the best chance to win last week against Indy after all. The only good thing to come out of this is the Wm. H Mathers boatload of humble pie that Chuck Booms deserves to eat.

Not only did Hoyer give us the best chance to win against Indianapolis, we likely would have won if we had released Billy Cundiff a week earlier.

Johnny Manziel looked exactly like the quarterback I thought he would.  The things he got away with in college don't work in the NFL.

50 yards rushing is not johnny manziel. the o is a train wreck.

What it boils down to is Manziel is far likelier to  improve than Hoyer, who has been who he is since he entered the NFL.

Bernie Kosar's 4th game: 7-17, 84 yards, two picks.

His late 80s nemesis went 13-34 for 143 yards with 4 picks in the last game of his rookie year....

^Exactly, I'm no Manziel fan, but let's give the kid at least a few games to show what he can do before we decide he'll never make it.

^

At least Browns fans are consistent -- they booed Brian Hoyer and then they booed Johnny Manziel. Browns fans have exactly the team they deserve. I wasn't even upset yesterday -- I wasn't even emotionally involved yesterday because it felt more like a lab experiment.

EDIT: Just saw this article....

How Johnny Manziel implosion could echo through the NFL

Johnny Manziel looked out of his league in his first NFL start for the Cleveland Browns, losing to the Cincinnati Bengals, 30-0. It's further proof that most of today's star college quarterbacks aren't remotely ready for the NFL.

Beware, Marcus Mariota.

In case you hadn't heard, on Saturday Mariota won the Heisman Trophy, and the chatter has already begun over whether he might be the No. 1 overall draft pick in next year's National Football League draft.

Then Sunday happened.

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel (also a Heisman-winner) made his professional football debut, and it wasn't remotely pretty. By the fourth quarter, the Browns coaches may well have been yelling "mayday" into their headsets.

Of course, it is just one game. And of course, Mariota is not Manziel.

Worst game of the year by the defense and worst game of the year by the O-line (ironically, the first Cincy game was probably the best game played by those two units).  WRs dropped a few balls.  I'm not staunchly defending Manziel, and am certainly no Johnny Football honk, but his performance was not on the top of my list as to why we played so miserably.  We really missed the middle of our defense (Taylor, Dansby, Gipson), our third string center looked like a 3rd string center, and our WRs were not competing for balls.  On top of that, we had some tough breaks, starting right on that initial drive when the refs missed a blatant hold on 3rd down which would have caused the Bengals to punt...... I mean our guy (I think it was Kruger) was literally tackled by the blocker.  Then Mingo gets that penalty on what should've been another stop on 3rd down.  Then Haden drops that INT (it would have been a great catch if he got it).  Then Haden goes down.  I'm surprised the margin of victory was not bigger than what it was.  If we had played like that against one of those Steelers teams from 10 years ago, it would have been one of those 51-0 shellackings.

50 yards rushing is not johnny manziel. the o is a train wreck.

And yet, these things were somehow Hoyer's fault when he started.
