IIRC, normally the high end places use a 90 day program, he's about halfway through that.

Stark difference in short-term approach from Bills, Browns

The Buffalo Bills are a mere three-hour drive from Cleveland.

But the way the Bills have approached building their team in the past week makes it seem like the Browns reside in a different hemisphere.

Reading that made me less than enthusiastic about the future.  :(

I really feel this starts from the top.  Since 99 our ownership has been questionable, but now it's downright laughable.  I wish Pegula, Rex Ryan and the Bills luck.  Hope they knock off NE this year.

Winning in the offseason doesn't equal winning in the regular season. That being said, my level of interest in this offseason is as low as I can remember -- or some 35+ years.

In case you didn't notice, and judging by the lack of interest/commentary here you haven't, the Browns have two more FA signings.....

Defensive Tackle Randy Starks -- http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12494690/cleveland-browns-sign-ex-miami-dolphins-dt-randy-starks

Cornerback Tramon Williams -- http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12494812/cleveland-browns-add-ex-green-bay-packers-cb-tramon-williams

Paraphrasing Major League.

"We still have a team in Cleveland? Do they have real uniforms and everything? "

The only thing keeping me from being completely pissed off about the lack of FA big name signings is the memory of the disaster of the year Phil Savage went all in in FA including LeCharles Bently.

I thought the last story was real until i saw it said the onion.

You can't really blame him for Bentley, who literally got hurt the first day of camp.  Everyone in town LOVED that signing.

I wasn't blaming Bentley. I was just reliving the utter disappointment of him not making out of the first day of training camp after the excitement of his FA signing. That what's keeping me from being completed pissed that they are for some mysterious reason sitting on a huge pile of cash in free agency when there are soooooo many holes to fill. And the people they let walk. You're the Browns, you're a joke, you're going to have to overpay to get talent in here. And you have the funds to do it..What's so hard about this...

Edit: I guess I am mostly p!ssed off....

When that happened, I knew Charlie Frye's health was also in serious jeopardy.

There's buzz about Philip Rivers now.  I don't expect it to happen, and am concerned if he can be effective in the north.

What's the rumor exactly?

Rivers isn't happy about the idea that the Bolts could "bolt" for L.A. So the rumor is he's reluctant to resign.

IMHO Rivers would do just fine in the AFC North. He's like a better version of Joe Flacco, though I think Flacco's arm is a bit stronger. His record in December, if I remember correctly is astounding... something like 33-6.

But I don't think Rivers or the Chargers are going anywhere. Not resigning him would cause a fan revolt here in SD.

I read that he wasn't sure how much longer he would play and it seemed like he was contemplating retirement in the near future. I wouldn't mind having him though.

Dwayne Bowe has signed. If healthy, he is a good pickup. I like the combo of him and Hartline on the outside with Hawkins and Gabriel in the slot

Or fumbling away a lead. It's not like he fumbles a lot. Oh wait, yes he does...

Browns and Falcons officials were informed at this week’s owners meetings of the discipline that is expected to be announced next week, per league sources. One source said the discipline is expected to be “severe.” http://fb.me/4UOcLCBPG

Artificially limiting communication from a coach up in the booth to coaches on the sideline seems really dumb. Just put all the coaches on the sideline at that point.

Browns dodged a huge bullet with this. They lost no draft picks.

BTW, considering the Browns were willing to give a first-round pick as part of a trade for a oft-injured QB who barely has a knee and that was talked out of retirement (Sam Bradford) tells me the Browns are so desperate for a QB that I have no doubts they are trying to trade up for Marcus Mariota.

Probably because they were up front about it and provided the requested dockumentation.....

^ yeah but its still very lucky. usually they take away draft picks too for stupidity like that.

@A_Jude Danny Shelton says he's flying out to Cleveland next week to meet with the Browns. Only meeting he has scheduled so far.

Another, potentially more significant Manziel picture....

Was @JManziel2 at Philly airport house hunting due to an imminent trade? #Browns #Eagles #HookLineandSinker http://t.co/kKwYxu0bvg

EDIT: upon further review... It seems Manziel is visiting hospitals in Eastern PA as part of his recovery process. But the word is that he is no longer a resident of the rehab facility. But the rehab process continues. For most, it never "ends."

For pretty much everyone, it never ends.

It was kind of annoying watching the "why is he in there for so long?" comments.  It's typically a 60 to 90 day process.

The 'Orange Carpet' event is going to be so anti-climatic given the leaks of the new jersey design....

With two weeks to go, I'm starting to pay attention to the draft. This is much later than I have in the past owing to the Browns consistently screwing up their first-round picks. The consensus for the Browns is to pick best player available. Maybe WR DeVante Parker falls to the Browns. Maybe they go after DT Danny  Shelton. Or OT Ereck Flowers.

Of course, there's a little bit of need mixed in, as a good first-round draft pick usually is a mix of best player/need. After QB and DL, the Browns greatest need is TE. Problem is, this draft has a weak TE class. The best TE is probably Maxx Williams out of Minnesota who should still be on the board when the Browns are due to pick 43rd (second round). I don't see the Browns selecting a QB unless they go

If Williams is gone by 43, and they don't take a WR or OL in the first round, this draft is deep enough with WRs and OLs they should be able to get a good one at 43. But I also would not be surprised if the Browns go after a QB like Garrett Grayson or Brett Hundley at 43.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

The urgency of picking a WR has diminished significantly with the signings of Bowe and Hartline.  If someone they feel can be a dynamic game-changer falls to them at 12 or 19, and I would think that group would be limited to White, Cooper, and Parker, I could see them selecting a WR.  But they now have Bowe, Hartline, Hawkins, and Gabriel, which isn't an awful unit at all.  Depth on the DL is more of a concern.  We have to get better at holding the point of attack and stopping the run.  Also, the right side of our OL needs help.

The signing of Starks makes the DL less of a draft-day need this year, but if Dante Fowler or Shane Ray is there at 12 and DeVante Parker is gone, I wouldn't be surprised if they went with Fowler or Ray. If Parker is there at 12, I think they take him as best player available. Sure, WR isn't as much of a concern, and I think the FA pickups this offseason allows Farmer to draft more for Best-Player-Available. But I have serious concerns about Bowe. When WRs fade, they fade fast. So if Parker is there, they take him and then go for a rush LB like Vic Beasley or a DE like Alvin Dupree at 21 or even 43.

Hope not!  Yeck.

Plus I doubt it as Schiener has said he doesn't consider it an extreme change and those orange numbers (tested in 1984 and found to be hard to see) would have to be considered such on the brown.
