So far so bad.

Looks like all those leaks were real.

I like them. To each his own I suppose.

Look like Tecmo Bowl uniforms

I think they look good. I was actually worried they'd be too similar to the current uniform - - like same colors but different stripes or something. They look different enough. Thumbs up.

I really like them-- CLEVELAND across the chest is very bold and in your face.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Browns are the only team with the city on the front of their jersey? (Or at all?)

For the most part I think they did a nice job. Its not the dramatic change that I would have preferred but it's definitely an improvement over what we have now. I like the three 'solid' looks the best with the all brown being my favorite. If they do mix them up at times I would go brown pants first, then white.  I was hoping for something better for the orange on the helmet but that ship sailed with the logo reveal. Also the word 'Browns' on the pant I could do w/o, or at least scale it down a bit. But all in all I like them.

I'm stoked CLEVELAND is blasted across the front.  Now I'm pumped up for football season.

Indians regular road jerseys, and baseball road jerseys in general list the city. The Cavs also have a "Cleveland" jersey.

I'm glad none of them are wearing those lame "look what happens when I stick my hands together" gloves.

I'm referring to other NFL teams :).  I'm 95% sure no other team in the NFL has their city across their chests.

Love em. Good balance between change and tradition. I like the white on white, but my favorite combo I think is the brown top and Orange pants. Now to decide which one to buy first....

They are growing on me with each passing hour. 'Cleveland' on the front is definitely awesome. I think I prefer the old shade of Orange though.

I'm just proud that for the first time in my lifetime, players are PROUD to wear CLEVELAND across their chests.    The 90's Indians started it, and LeBron has sealed it.  Glad to see the Browns joining ranks.

Alex Mack seems to be at a lot of Browns events for someone who supposedly doesn't want to be here.

That's the one thing I like about them, and that's it.  Otherwise....

Terrible, awful, horrible, and keep going.  Why does a team with our tradition have to get stuck wearing something that looks like a cross between NASCAR and discards from a clown college?

The two worst things:

1) The name down the leg.  There’s a reason some ideas are “original”. Because they suck. Small text horizontal on the hip might have been okay.

2) Orange effing numbers.  Really?  They tried these very early in the ill advised 1984 uniform change (keep in mind this sacrilege only lasted one year).  Some couldn’t make out the numbers from the press box or upper deck.  Nike swears they tested them on HD and they come out fine.  So?  In any case, did they test them in adverse weather?  In any case, they look terrible.

Put those two things back and they might be closer to acceptable.  As it is, CWRU seismologists detected a disturbance at Lakeview Cemetery.  It seems Al Lerner reached about 48,000 RPM.

UFR.  Green Bay looks like geniuses for saying no to Nike.

^ I came close to spitting coffee on my keyboard at that.

I do agree that the orange numbers on the brown jersey are too close in hue - resulting in the colors muddling together.  It would be better to have white letters with an orange drop shadow so as to have greater contrast.  Fingers crossed they'll look good on TV.

Ohh, duh. Just "the city" implies to me Cleveland specifically. As opposed to their city, or something else.

I was irked last year that they took the "AL" off the sleeves.  Now I'm glad they did.  He was the guy who told NFL marketing that if they wanted to play with uniforms they should buy their own team.

I hadn't even noticed.....

"BROWNS" down the leg seems to be the most controversial.  I have heard from people who hate it and from people who love it.  Per an interview I heard yesterday, that was something which went down to the wire during the course of finalizing the design.

Should be an easy fix if they want to do away with it.  Fans buy jerseys, but not many buy the pants....

@AllbrightNFL

Privately, the Browns are doing a lot of homework on the quarterbacks in this draft, and those that could be had via trade.

boo! well, ok about the jets now formidable secondary, but that's not the whole magilla. we'll see about this.

Three easiest games

Sept. 13 vs. Browns: The new-look Jets secondary gets an easy start, facing Cleveland in Week 1 with either Josh McCown or Johnny Manziel expected to be at quarterback. That’s a soft start for Revis and Co. Former defensive coordinator Mike Pettine faces the Jets for the first time as a head coach.

The Browns have a Thursday night game at Cincinnati again this year.  Why wasn't this changed up to a different opponent or at least let Cleveland host the Thursday night game against Cincinnati?

As long as the outcome is the same as last year, I wish we played EVERY Thursday night in Cincinnati.....

Pauline said he didn't know who that mystery team was, but he speculated it is likely San Diego and that the trade would involve Phillip Rivers. The Jets was another possibility as the mystery team. He doubted it was Philadelphia. But he thinks it's San Diego.

Summary...

Browns give: 12th overall to SD; get: Phillip Rivers.

Titans get: #12, #17 and #48; give: #2 overall to SD.

Chargers get: #2 and select Mariota.

I like this a lot better than taking Mariota, even if he were to drop to 12.

Chargers want Mariota in advance of their move to LA

Yep, and they want to get some value from Rivers while they still can. My only concern is would Rivers want to play here? Sure, we can keep using the franchise tag on him, but I wouldn't want to do that against his will. I want him to want to be here.

I had heard Bradford won't sign long term with the Browns.  If so, NFW should they make this deal.

I think that rumor about Bradford not signing has been taken out of context. I'd think he doesn't want to sign ANYWHERE long term at the moment. Not after his injuries the past few seasons. He probably wants to try to play his way into a larger contract at the end of the season

Joe Thomas: Manziel 'night and day from last year'

Joe Thomas sees a transformation in quarterback Johnny Manziel.

In an exclusive interview with NFL Media's Andrea Kremer, Cleveland's Pro Bowl left tackle heaped praise on Johnny after saying earlier this month that the Browns passer "lost probably a lot of trust" among teammates with the way he handled himself as a rookie.

"The way he is now is night and day from last year," Thomas said Tuesday. "He has a bright future ahead of him."

Danny Shelton is talking like he already knows the Browns are taking him at #12.  I'd be fine with that, unless either Cooper or White somehow slip to that spot.

A friend of mine who tries to stay as tuned in as possible thinks the Browns' attempts to trade into the Top 5 would not be to pick Mariota.  He believes they would be targeting Leonard Williams, who is the top rated prospect on 'my board'

I like both of the top RB prospects (Gurley and Gordon) but both of them were used a lot in college and I worry about a short shelf life in the NFL.

If they trade up it could be to get Dante Fowler.  I'm good with that, or Shelton at the 12.

I'm hearing about Gordon and Perriman being top candidates for the 19, if they keep it.

I would not give up any draft picks for a player who won't sign beyond a year, for whatever reason.

Shelton seems likely at this point.  I can't see us trading up this year, maybe down.

Yes he did, and yes he is. Good choice. Preferred DaVante Parker, but there's lots of a good WRs in this draft. Perhaps as many as last year.

BTW, Shelton needs to avoid #FeastMode!

Great first round.  Kinda pissed Steelers got that OLB but we needed the OL help more.

Wow...heavy stuff.

Huskies' Shelton still fighting anger after brother's shooting death

BY TODD DYBAS

[email protected] 25, 2013

A motor-driven cluster of needles shoved ink below the skin of Danny Shelton’s upper chest to spell out “Search For The Truth” his freshman year at Washington.

Those words reveal Shelton’s open-ended pursuit. He’s trying to figure out his true self. He’s wondering if he has caged the anger that has festered in his soul since his brother was shot to death in front of him two years ago. Stamping out the fury has been a trying and disjointed process.

Everything about Shelton is wide. His legs, arms, shoulders, face. At 6-foot-1, 327 pounds, Shelton used his bulk and power to snatch a gun away from a gang member, then start beating him in the face with it.

Shelton tries to use that  ferocity to shove 300-pound foes onto their behinds or at least back several steps during college football games.

Though he considered discarding football after his brother’s shooting, it has provided Shelton a regimen. The former Auburn High School star played with a cast-encased broken hand and wonky hamstring last season, starting all 13 games at nose tackle. He made 45 tackles. He was named to the Pacific-12 Conference’s all-academic first team.

I told my boys at the start of the draft last night that I wanted a first round focused on running the ball and stopping the run.  Worked out well in my book.

My (preliminary) Round 2 board:

1. Eddie Goldman, DL, FSU (can't have enough of these players in a 3-4 system... another bull who adds depth)

2. Tevin Coleman, RB, IU (good fit for the zone-read.... more of a home-run hitter than our current RBs)

3. Eli Harold, LB, UVa (gives Mingo some competition)

4. T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh (athletic OL who could play G or T)

5. Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA (football player..... nose for the ball)

6. Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State (gotta pick a WR at some point and he is the best one left)

7. Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State (another football player..... great instincts)

8. Max Williams, TE, Minn (need an upgrade and he is the best TE in this draft)

9. Michael Bennett, DL, THE OSU (unquestionable talent..... not sure if he is big enough for 3-4)

10. Randy Gregory, LB/DE, Nebraska (top 10 pick if not for off-field issues)

*Gregory would be on top if not for his failed drug test

**La'el Collins would be on this board if not for his off-field issues

***Landon Collins would be on this board but we already have SS taken care of

They may go RB. I realize they have some potential in West and Crowell, and both want to team up to each get 1,000 yards, but if there's a better player you can't be afraid of hurting someone's feelings. That said, I do find this refreshing....

Isaiah Crowell, Terrance West aim for 1,000 yards in '15

The Cleveland Browns have no need to draft a running back during this week's NFL Draft.

At least not according to Isaiah Crowell, the team's second-year runner who believes that he and Terrance West give the club all they need on the ground.

Crowell went public this week with their shared goal in the backfield: He and West each hope to pick up 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015.

"That's the plan," Crowell said, per the team's official website. "Both of us want the ball and I think both of us have what it takes to play in the NFL for a long time. I'm happy he's with me. We plan on doing some big things."

Solid Day 2. Nothing sexy. Nothing overly risky. All picks seem to have been solid production guys at major programs

I wouldn't mind them taking some more risks on Day 3. Stefon Diggs is someone I'd be looking at in the 4th

I like Duke Johnson, he could be a steal.  That pick seems to be getting some accolades.  Big speed boost on offense, he can get around corners and take off.  Also a big threat as a checkdown receiver.

Defensive front was horrible last year and we've added 3 studs to it, with 5 picks to go.  But I'm pissed that the Ravens got that TE.  If they didn't the Steelers would have, and we still need one badly, moreso than WR.

I'm hoping they snag Jake Ryan, a TTUN linebacker I'm very happy to see graduate. He has some issues, but they are all coachable.
