November 6, 20159 yr If they are out for money, they don't have a very good gameplan. You don't make money in sports by overpaying FAs and putting a losing product on the field.
November 6, 20159 yr welp half a decent game was better than i expected. catch a few balls and protect manziel better in the second half and at least it would not have been a blowout. it's a shame, but really pettine seems to be the least of the browns management/ownership problems. he has made his mistakes, but he seems to be putting the most competitive team possible out there. at least as far as them getting up for the games and trying, if not always on field or talent management.
November 6, 20159 yr I think I'm done with Pettine. Discipline, personnel, game management... it's all wrong. He's just a bad head coach. Farmer's bad too, but we knew that already.
November 7, 20159 yr Could not agree more with Coach Brian Billick in this column. The constant personnel changes have to stop. And I've been saying that since like 3 regimes ago. We are better off continuing to employ Pettine/Farmer and let them improve and learn from their mistakes, than to fire them and bring in whatever 3rd rate guys we can get on the open market. Browns must stop digging a bigger hole: Stick with Mike Pettine By Brian Billick for NFL.com Nov. 6, 2015 at 11:41 a.m For the long suffering Cleveland Browns' fans now sitting at 2-7 -- fresh off a third straight double-digit loss, this time to in-state rival Cincinnati on national television -- the valid question becomes ... Where do we go from here? I would suggest a time-honored phrase -- "When you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging" -- as a good start. I am sure the steady drumbeat of fire the coach, fire the GM or, heck, just fire someone will resound loudly on the Cleveland and national airwaves and in columns. In my opinion, you'd only be making it worse by continuing to dig. Since the Browns were reconstituted in 1999, they have had three owners, eight head coaches and half a dozen general managers and personnel directors. More recently, they have fired Eric Mangini after two years, Pat Shurmur after two years and Rob Chudzinski after just one year. By all means, go ahead and fire Mike Pettine after just two seasons. That seems to be working real well for you ... What is the definition of insanity? Repeating the same act over and over again while expecting a different outcome. Cleveland, just stop digging! November 9, 20159 yr 14 hours ago|Updated: 13 hours ago2 Fun Johnny Manziel Returns During A&M Trip JOE KINSEY It appears, from photos leaking out of College Station, that Fun Johnny Manziel just might be back on the scene thanks to what looks like a fun night with Texas A&M coeds. I just wrote late last week that it was time for Fun Johnny Manziel to return, even if it pisses off Browns management. Those scrubs have their own issues so the last thing Johnny needs to do is act fake like he’s some bottled up homebody. We know that’s a lie. We know you can’t contain the legend and that the best thing for this guy is to be unleashed now and then. That appears to be what happened Saturday after A&M lost at Kyle Field. Johnny had some innocent fun, at least one girl kissed his face and he gave his giant gold chain to another hot chick. That’s how you handle life when the franchise you play for is a disaster and they’ve put all sorts of restrictions on you. November 9, 20159 yr I fail to recognize anything he did as wrong by the information in the article. Crowley might be pist, but Kruger's probably happy.

November 10, 20159 yr Johnny Manziel’s weekend party pictures may be another breach of #Browns’ trust: https://t.co/XuSrNGqXGA On the other hand, if they really want him to replace Miss Crowley, he's not going to go looking at a convent.
November 10, 20159 yr Point is, if someone has enough of a problem with controlled substances that they spent weeks in a rehab facility, then drinking one beer isn't smart. Nor is going to parties where alcohol is flowing freely. If you try to rationalize it, that's called bargaining and it's the first step back into the abyss. You can't manage a substance abuse problem. But it's tough to tell a young, immature, ego-driven person that there's something out there that is actually stronger than them and that the only way to defeat it is to completely avoid it. They have to learn it for themselves, often through the unsympathetic and brutal school of life. November 10, 20159 yr Mike Hoag @MikeHoagJr 3m3 minutes ago Browns waive Robert Turbin, activate OL Darrian Miller from practice squad. Also RB Terrance West was waived by Tennessee. He didn't play enough for the Titans so the Browns won't get a compensatory draft pick. Thus, the Browns used a third-round draft pick in 2014 and got a RB for one year. That's it. EDIT: TWest signed to Baltimore Ravens' practice squad. Doesn't restore any compensatory picks to the Browns, however. November 15, 20159 yr Manziel looks like a franchise QB today. Bad news is it will take years to draft players to compliment him. What a sad sad franchise.
November 15, 20159 yr Like a deep sea expedition, this franchise is exploring new depths. Pet Sematary. The NFL and Art Modell kill the Browns. People are sad. After three years the team is resurrected. It looks the same, but somethings just not quite right. But what the heck, it's the "Browns" and you're just glad to have the team back. The good ol' Cleveland Browns! With their proud history! And bright future! And the most loyal fanbase! Look, there's Mike Holmgren!!! By the time you realize the Browns are simply a demonic resurrection, it's too late.
November 16, 20159 yr ^that is my favorite explanation of what the hell is wrong with this organization. You can't bring things back from the dead. JFF isn't even cracking the the top ten list of what was wrong today. I actually had an enjoyable afternoon instead of watching the Browns I took my 2 yo to the Youngstown Model Railroad Builders club annual open house with my parents. They did have a couple of Browns boxcars that did torment me as they went past. However my son didn't notice them and loved the display. I did get to listen to the end of the game on the way home though, just to torture myself.
November 16, 20159 yr not sure how true or in any way motivating this is for big ben anymore, but of course they had to say it: he's among the best in the game and he takes particular delight in tormenting the Browns, who could have taken the Ohio native in the 2004 draft and instead opted for tight end Kellen Winslow II.

Don't forget about poor Luke McCown, also in that draft class!
November 16, 20159 yr First time since the 1970s I was available to watch a Browns game but chose not to. It was just too nice of a day to have it ruined by the Browns, and I had one of my best football season Sundays in a long time. :) So if the Browns want me back, they're going to have to give me a reason. November 16, 20159 yr First time since the 1970s I was available to watch a Browns game but chose not to. It was just too nice of a day to have it ruined by the Browns, and I had one of my best football season Sundays in a long time. :) So if the Browns want me back, they're going to have to give me a reason. I feel like you say this every year, only to resurface with enthusiasm around draft time. Not calling you out- it's the symptom of a long suffering but devoted fan. The Browns obviously are in need of playmakers, and the draft is usually the best place to get them. However, with the recent draft failures, it gives fans very little confidence that things will ever get better. It causes contempt for the organization, especially when ownership seems so out of touch with fan sentiment. This was exactly the situation with the Bengals for about 15 years. Fans spoke with their wallets and started to stop going to games- a point you all very much liked to point out. Whether it was the financial impact of reduced attendance and TV blackouts or not, something changed around 10 years ago. There have been some tumultuous moments for sure, such as Carson Palmer quitting on the team, but overall the organization is in such a better place. They've drafted well, retained guys, and have allowed guys to develop in the same system year after year. I'm certainly not a huge believer in Marvin's system come playoff time, but there is no doubt that he has changed the culture of the organization for the better. In my opinion, this is the process the Browns must go through as well. Make a focused effort to show that the fans are not going to tolerate this mess year in and year out. Hire a gm and coach who you really believe in, and give them a few years to build their system without the constant worry of cleaning house at the end of every season. Make sensible draft picks. I want to see a competitive division from top to bottom, and it'd be nice to have some more Ohio representation at the top of the AFC North!
November 16, 20159 yr Like I said, yesterday was the first game I've intentionally missed in its entirety in nearly 40 years. I didn't even DVR it and delete it later. More recently, I have shut off games midway through when I realized the Browns were stinking up the joint, but I still followed them on Twitter or watched highlights/lowlights later. I did none of that with yesterday's game. It felt good. I missed the final game of 2014 when I was on a Caribbean cruise, but I DVR'd it and watched it later. And I followed it live on twitter so I knew what was going on. But let me put it this way. In year's past... I used to pay attention to the standings, but I have no idea what the Browns record is or who is above or below them in division or conference-wide. I do know they're not doing very well, again. I used to be able to tell you how the Browns offense and defense ranked in various categories in the division, conference, and league, but I have no idea what they are now or care to know. I used to know what Browns players were the conference and league leaders at their position, but I don't even know who the team's starters are anymore. I used to know what college players the Browns could draft to fit their needs, but I don't anymore because I don't know what the Browns needs are anymore. And given the Browns' drafting poise, does it really matter who the Browns draft? Yes, I've said before that the Browns are losing me as a fan. But losing me has taken numerous phases of disengagement. I've gone from closely following all of those stats and writing about the Browns year-round in various online publications, to writing about them only before the draft or when they win, to no longer writing about them at all but still following them in-season and off-season, to casually following them, to where I am now. I know who the Browns are playing (or in this coming week, being on a bye) and I hear Manziel had a good game but I don't know what his stats were. So probably the next step is where I stop paying attention entirely and don't even to care about writing long rants like this one. :) "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 16, 20159 yr Take whatever money we have invested in our scouting department and use it to pay Anonymous to hack into the Steelers' system and steal their draft board. Problem solved
November 17, 20159 yr I've had season tickets since 1999 and I gave away the last four games. This will be the first year since 99 I haven't been to at least 6 home games. It's also the first year I've not watched any of the away games on TV save the opener. My wife says I'm a much more pleasant individual on Sundays.
November 17, 20159 yr So apparently LA really wants a team. Why don't we give them the Browns just like we did the Rams and then we tear down the stadium and develop the valuable lakefront land?
November 17, 20159 yr How about we give them the Browns and then bring the Rams, who want out of StL, back to the North Coast?
November 17, 20159 yr It can just be a continuing shuffle of the two teams between the three cities. Every few years they rotate.
November 17, 20159 yr Like joint custody of a child nobody wants anymore. That's some funny stuff. Doesn't look like the Browns will be moving to LA anytime soon. I heard the league set the transfer fee into LA (which is a NFL controlled region after the LA Raiders and LA Rams debacles) at a half billion dollars.
November 24, 20159 yr more johnny par taay in austin -- the readers seem sympathetic to browns fans: Video: Browns QB Johnny Manziel partying with bottle of booze during Cleveland’s bye week THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Monday, November 23, 2015, 7:45 PM CLEVELAND (AP) — Johnny Manziel couldn’t make it through the Browns’ bye week without being a distraction. Manziel, who promised last week that he wouldn’t embarrass Cleveland’s organization while the team was off, spent time partying in Texas and then hanging out at Saturday’s Ohio State-Michigan State game in Columbus, Ohio. On Monday, a video surfaced of the second-year quarterback holding a bottle of champagne and singing rap lyrics in a DJ’s booth at a club in Austin, Texas. While Manziel did nothing illegal, the sight of him out on the town must be disconcerting to the Browns and coach Mike Pettine, who selected the former first-round pick as the starter for Cleveland’s final six games. more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/video-manziel-parties-bottle-booze-browns-bye-article-1.2444720
November 25, 20159 yr Wow. Is this the shortest reign for a starting Browns Quarterback? He he went from being the official starter to #3 in what? A week? That is so sad. I hope he grows up out of this 20-something downward spiral he is in soon. For his own health and safety.
November 25, 20159 yr I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the locker room, or the Haslem/Farmer offices. I'm guessing there is WAY more to this story than a bottle of champagne....
November 25, 20159 yr I actually don't think there is more to the story Maybe not from last weekend, but I mean the "history" of Johnny Manzeil....
November 25, 20159 yr I don't care what Manziel or Josh Gordon do in their off time. If they have problems, they should seek help. But if they're the best player at their position, they should play.

This didn't get debated far enough, in my opinion, during the last time they passed the stadium maintenance funding.
December 1, 20159 yr Hahahahahahahahha Guys, once you emotionally detach yourself from that joke of a football franchise, it makes things so much better. Then you can just laugh. They are literally the worst franchise in sports
December 1, 20159 yr Man the Browns just can't catch a break. It was so nice seeing a glimpse of Pettine and the team actually happy for a minute. Again the running game is non-existent, as their are no holes on the line. The most telling thing though was the comment by the color guy saying "The Browns do not have a good tackling defense." Think about that for a moment.
December 1, 20159 yr Brutal. Fans are ripping their jerseys. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2594625-furious-browns-fans-react-to-ravens-game-winning-kick-6-curse-and-rip-jersey?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-national
