I like him, and I'm sure he'd love to be an NFL head coach,  especially here.

Uh, he is a head coach in the NFL. Of an undefeated team.

I appreciate the optimism of Browns fans, but these moves look pretty awful from the outside. Why was Hue not fired after last season?  The new interim head coach had a record of 17-31 as an NFL head coach, which I guess is an upgrade over 3 win Hue, but enough of an upgrade to blow up the season over? What kind of coach or player would want to come to an organization that routinely pulls sh*t like this? The team has shown dramatic improvement this year compared to last year, and if at the end of the season the ownership feels like it wasn't good enough, then they fire the staff and start fresh. Doing this mid-season just reinforces the perception of the Browns as a clueless organization.

Ultimately, I am not a Browns fan, so I don't too much care what the team does in terms of personnel moves. But I do want them to be good, and to be competitive, and to represent Ohio in a positive way. As inept as the Bengals have been forever, they have kind of settled into always hovering around .500. If the Browns could have such success, it'd make for a  more competitive (and fun) division. I hope these new moves work out for the team, but I have little confidence they will.

^ .500? we wish. thats living the dream. at least the bengals have also settled into super bowls. even though that was a long time ago, it just goes to show you browns history. even with stable ownership and management. it aint been much for endless decades. its cursed i tell ya!

Remember that Sam Rutigliano was fired halfway through the 1984 season. Seems like yesterday. He was replaced by defensive coordinator Marty Schottenheimer. Marty went on to coach that 1-7 team to 4-4 the rest of the way. He took the Browns to the playoffs in each of the next four years and, after he was fired after the 1988 season, his team went to the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season. During that span, the Browns were on the doorstep of the Super Bowl three times. So it doesn't really matter if you make a change in the middle of the season. Lots of teams have done it and did OK. Some did better than OK, like my beloved 1980s Browns.

I don't think Gregg Williams is the long term solution. However, what we can count on is a more disciplined football team in the coming weeks.

I don't either. But just because a change is made in mid-season, doesn't mean it's bad. Every situation is different and we won't be able to judge it for at least a couple of years.

.@RobertKlemko on @BullandFox, says #Browns GM John Dorsey was talking with coaches during practice today, in locker room talking to players after practice. Handed center JC Tretter a hard boiled egg. JC asked “what’s this?”. Dorsey replied, “it’s because you’re f***in soft”

And Hue, who is always so concerned about what people think of him, is going on a media tour to repair his public image. You know that Mike Silver is on the schedule. But here's Hue's first stop...

You know that it's a good win when you can't decide from among Browns players who should be Rookie Of The Week -- Baker Mayfield or Nick Chubb.

While Baker played a near-perfect game, it's not every day or even every half-century when you have the longest TD run in team history -- especially when your team has had the running backs that the Browns had.

When you're 18 up with 6 minutes to play and aren't even close to relaxed.....that's being a Browns fan.

And only 2 sacks in these three games (both came vs. KC)

Also, penalties, drops, missed assignments have all dropped off significantly.  Cutting away the drama and infighting at the top has eliminated a cloud of confusion from everything the guys are out their trying to do and allowed them to play to their abilities.

Who's that team I see in the playoff picture with less than one week before December? It's my Cleveland Browns! Longshot but not a typo. They may have to win every remaining game....

I didn't get to see all of yesterday's game (including the fourth quarter), but it was actually fun to watch (this from someone who seldom watches pro at all, even Super Bowls).  Nice to know we can still at least beat a once-strong program in the midst of a staggering collapse.

I was surprised at the apparent weak attendance at yesterdays game.  It was a nice day and this team is actually fun to watch again.  What gives?

Attendance was 88%, which I am frankly pleased with given the weather and the Browns recent history.   If they keep winning on through the end of the season we will see the season ticket sales jump up for next season.

One thing the Browns HAVE to address are the lines getting into the stadium.   I was traveling yesterday, but saw many fans on social media complaining about not getting into the stadium until well into the 2nd quarter due to the slow security procedures.  No one wants to leave their warm tailgate fire 2 hours early just to make it in on time!

^88% sold or 88% at through the gates?  Sure didn't look anywhere near 88% or even 80% full.

About the attendance, 1 win in 2 seasons plays a big part of that. You don't turn that around completely in a single season.

The lines on the north side of the stadium are always faster. I don't get why everybody piles into the same 2 entrances.

The same reason everyone from the burbs going to Indians games all get off at E 9th or Ontario, because it's the only way they know how.  When the lines start out by the Rock Hall or across W 3rd street, people are inclined to just queue up there rather than risk ending up even further back in line.

Friend works for the Browns - yesterday was an anomaly with the gates. One was closed due to a perceived security threat. That's why the lines were longer than usual.

I haven't missed a home game this year, yesterday was the most full its been. Browns are still selling 97.2% of every available ticket for home games... convincing people to come is the issue. If the Browns beat the Broncos, FirstEnergy will be a 2002 sort of atmosphere for Hue's return.

When the Browns can win ugly on the road, it's pretty apparent we're seeing a different Browns team.

How's everyone feeling about Gregg Williams?   It's clear the team is playing their hearts out for him, and his W-L record shows that compared to Hue!

Feeling pretty good about Williams except his defense is too inconsistent. It's great at times with some big plays and then it sucks, whiffing on tackles and getting caught out of position. When it keeps happening, that's coaching. And that time-out on fourth down at the end almost cost us the game. No, I wouldn't have gone for it on fourth down with Keenum as the opposing QB. Kick the FG and force them to go the length of the field to beat you with a TD.

ridiculous, but nice:

The Browns will be rooting for New England, Dallas and the Giants on Sunday.

Even with Saturday's nail-biter of a 17-16 win over Denver, the Browns will be eliminated from playoff consideration if the Steelers, Colts and Titans all win.

Pittsburgh plays New England, the Colts have Dallas and Tennessee plays the Giants.

The Browns remain alive if Pittsburgh, Indianapolis or Tennessee lose.

They sure weren't. Everybody we hoped would lose won.

Are we officially eliminated, then?

I don't think so. Our chance of winning the North is done. We can get in if the Raven, Colts, and Titans lose their last 2.

edit: The Colts and Titans play each other the last week of the season. So Browns need them to tie that game.?

Edited by Mendo

If the Browns win their last two games, it will be the first time since 1922-23 that a winless NFL franchise (0-8 Columbus Panhandles/Tigers) had a winning record (5-4-1) the following season. There have been bigger win/loss turnarounds than that since, but no zero wins to winning record in 95 years.

Nope, but we would need some losses next week and then the Titants/Colts game Week 17 to end in a tie....

A couple things:

1. Baker has had a terrific season. He has proven to everyone that there will not be nor should there be a QB controversy in Cleveland in the foreseeable future. However, while we certainly have reason to be excited, let's not crown him the heir apparent to TB12 just yet.

2. We're all going to have to come to terms with the fact that the Browns will be expected to win 10+ games next year. That's a new feeling lol.

Mayfield is a totally different QB than Tom Brady. I don't even compare them. Drew Brees, however? He has many similarities, at least in terms of size, playing style, talent, etc. But the two are different in terms of their public persona. I know that if Mayfield played for another AFC North team, I would hate his guts. But I love that this swaggering kid is playing for the Browns. He is EXACTLY what this team needs. The front office drafted and signed a few players this year that had an us-vs.-the-world mentality to them. Browns needed more than just a talent upgrade but an attitude adjustment as well.

One interesting thing I did not expect is that there are a lot fans around the NFL who are openly rooting for the Browns. Even many Steeler fans are going above and beyond the obvious desire for playoff help in gushing over Dorsey, Baker, Chubb & Co. for the turnaround. It reminds me of the groundswell behind the Indians after the movie Major League came out. The Browns had become lovable losers!

And could win the division this year for a trip to the playoffs.  None of the others are looking terribly impressive.

I can't find the poll from the beginning of preseason for the Browns W-L (probably lost in the server migration).   I think I picked 8-8, so in the ballpark of where they could end up.

Baker deserves AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year. Saquon is good. Sure, performing like a second- or third-year elite player at RB is impressive. But performing at the same level at QB is mind-blowing. Mind-what?? Say it again, Baker!!

If the Browns and the Ravens had traded kickers before the season, the Browns would be hosting a home playoff game next Saturday night.

Congrats to Baker Mayfield for getting the NFL rookie record for TD passes on the season -- with three fewer starts. The future is bright.
