I think they said he's going to be switching sides of the line, and will protect bakers blindside... Good pick here.. would be nice to get a joe Thomas caliber player

He'll be a consistent starter and maybe make a pro bowl or three. Next up, Browns must use most of their remaining picks on defense. Gotta get a LB and a long-term solution at safety, plus depth. And I'd still make a run at Everson Griffen in FA. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

The Browns are a classic team, like the Bears or Packers. The latter have told Nike's art school dropouts to go away the whole time. Leave trendy crap to the newbie teams like the Jaguars and Ratbirds.

April 24, 20205 yr i would like to know the thinking of the giants, who were in the drivers seat, for picking andrew thomas over wills. seems like a coin flip to me, but there must have been some intangible.

OBJ better perform well this season(if there is one)so he is not so much known for his various on and off the field "antics". He could get away with that early on but now...not so much.

He also said that Clowney demands to become the highest paid player at the position.

September 14, 20204 yr Well folks - it's not all doom and gloom - but mostly it is Here's a positive, I really like Stefanski, and allow me to explain: I think the play calling was actually PRETTY good. Our faults on offense were primarily execution errors. Baltimore pretty much dared Baker to throw the ball - the lined up 7 in the box regularly, sometimes 8 when Humphreys would roll down. When that happens, either one of two things will happen: Either Baker should identify the MLB, and split the field in half (i.e. if there's 7 in the box, he'll ID the side of the field with 3 and direct the run that direction - Stefanski's scheme relies heavily on hat on hat numbers), or he'll revert to the pass (two plays are called in every huddle and 80% of the time it's one run one pass, which is pending alignment and numbers). Baker just didn't make throws and he really struggled with a taller D line, which isn't good if he can't do a better job finding passing lanes. We GREATLY reduced the number of penalties from last year, and those we did get were at times unavoidable - (we twice had an offensive facemask penalty on attempted stiff arms) Hunt and Chubb both got touches - and we ran them when it made sense to do so (i.e. we shouldn't run against 8 in the box on 2nd down) Here's the negative: Our QB play and our secondary STRUGGLED. In this NFL, you need both of those for a shot at success. Keep things in perspective: This was Stefanski's first ever game as HC, this was the Browns first ever live snaps in this offense, and this was against a 14-2 Ravens team who are in their 3rd year of Roman's system.
September 14, 20204 yr I thought the OL played quite well, even after WIlls got hurt. So I yelled at the TV a couple of times when Mayfield was getting happy feet despite no defenders bearing down him. Getting a 99-yard-drive run down your throat when the score was still close was a morale crusher. And of course there's the play of our f---ing kicker. Don't know if this will make a difference (getting beat 38-10 isn't really better than 38-6).... I have loosely followed a thread on a forum where some people who are obsessed with him go over his life daily. He has lived a pretty messy life the last year or so. I can't believe he has not gotten Covid-19 given how he continued to run his own home as if it were a refugee camp for various sorts-might as well have installed a revolving door. And all though the pandemic as well. Parties and clubs but nary a mask in sight. He looks like he has aged five years in the past year.
September 18, 20204 yr Stefanski called one hell of a game yesterday. Removing the outcome of the first game (which is borderline understandable), I've been really impressed with how organized and tactful he's been as a first year head coach. Might be a couple calls I didn't agree with (fake punt in Game 1) - but by and large the team is exponentially more disciplined than last year and last night he put Baker in spots where he could be successful. Also - the unsung heroes of this team are Sheldon Richardson and Larry Ogunjobi - they have been ABSOLUTE MONSTERS at the 1 and 3 technique.
September 18, 20204 yr Nice to see the Browns execute on offense but the Bengals are clearly terrrrrrrible. And our defense is.....not great. They’ve given up 8 touchdowns in 2 weeks including drives of 69, 99, 69, and 75 yards.

The good news is, tackling is the most coachable part of defense, after alignment... we can right that ship
