I was shocked by the win.  I like KJP[/member] lost interest in the game and was out when thing No.1 text me about the win.

My biggest complaint about the Browns org., is the incorrect use of legendary Cleveland Browns term.

What a year it was!  I relived the pain all over again!

for the longest time time that oakland game was the worst, thee worst. more so than anything that came after. i was so pissed and could never understand why they went for it, but as time went on and we learned how bad off don cockroft's health was it eased the pain a bit. here's a quote about that from dc himself: “That was my most difficult season physically. My cartilage wore out in my left knee about halfway through the season. Every time I bent my left knee the cartilage would slip over into my knee joint,” Cockroft said. “I ended up with two herniated discs. I missed a few field goals, maybe or maybe not because of the injuries, but I missed them.”

People forget the Kadiac Kids defense wasn't very good. It was also Jekyll & Hyde. The reason why the 1979 and 1980 teams staged such dramatic comebacks is because they got so far down in the first halves of games. And they blew some games in the last minute too -- not just the divisional playoff against Oakland. Anyone remember what Ahmad Rashaad did to the Browns in Minnesota? I almost swore off the Browns after that game. But after they lost to Oakland, I destroyed all my copies of Browns songs, including the 12 Days Of Browns Christmas! Sure wished I'd kept it.....

A few more of these late rallies by Hoyer and he'll need a nickname.  Something along the lines of Captain Comeback.

Easy. Hoyer The Destroyer!

Hoyer the Destroyer is definitely the accepted nomenclature.

Sounds like a linebacker or running back, not a relatively slight QB.

^I think that is kind of the point.  Like calling a really big guy "Tiny"

I think it's just rhyme above reason.

Take a look at that picture on the shirt

A little guy with focused determination and guided missiles can bomb the opposition into destruction as much as a big guy can batter them with brute force. Maybe moreso.

Reassignment surgery?

Speaking of surgery..... Phil Taylor had his knee scoped today.  He will be out a minimum of a few weeks and then re-evaluated.  This may be a blessing in disguise.  I have been saying for the past few weeks that the move to DE has not been a successful one for Phil.  I thought he played exceedingly well at NT last year...... better than Rubin has performed so far this year IMO.  I honestly haven't noticed a difference in Rubin between the two positions.  They need to move Phil back to the middle, even if you leave Rubin there and rotate the two.

That is just one issue with the defense.  I think the scheme needs to be changed as well.  In previous systems, Pettine has relied on very physical cornerback play with less of an emphasis on over-the-top help from the safeties.  That is certainly what he did with the Jets and Buffalo.  Not so sure about Baltimore.  The point is that style just doesn't seem to work with the CBs handcuffed with the new rules.  The NFL (and probably moreso its TV providers) don't want to see another Seattle type "legion of boom" system take the NFL by storm.  They want the little, jitterbug WRs to be able to run free in the secondary to continually evolve the league towards regular high-scoring games.

Is the score really 31-3?

I'm as giddy as a Virgin at a prison rodeo!

This is the breakout game and the biggest blowout of Pitts in my memory.

This feels good. I don't have to go to work tomorrow and hear the steelers fans. Though they might still point to Ben's 18-2 record against the Browns ?

Great win.  But the loss of Alex Mack could be devastating.  I almost would've preferred that Joe Thomas went down instead of Mack.

Any update on the timetable for Mack's return from a broken leg?  Do we know how bad Armonty Bryant was injured?  Kaewon Williams?  It was a costly win.

I'm also bummed about Mack, but I kept my eye on Greco and was pleased that he was making all the blocks and playing well. McQuistan is an experienced back-up, so hopefully we won't miss too much. And we didn't miss a beat yesterday having scored 21 points and racking up most of Tate's yardage after Mack went down. This OL has been one of the league's best this year and there is some depth behind it.

Same for Bryant and the D-line. There's depth there so when Bryant went down (without Taylor or Winn active), the defense continued to play well. K'waun Williams should be fine. He's been a very pleasant surprise for an undrafted in-season pickup. Love his activity level and has helped "cover" for a Gilbert who's off to a slow start.

The depth this year is what makes the big difference from going 3-2 last year and suffering a big injury in a big win. Last year, we lost Hoyer in the big win against Buffalo. There was no depth at QB behind Hoyer (or any running game) and the team went 1-10 the rest of the way. The big injuries suffered yesterday can be compensated for.

I assume Mack is done for the year.  How long is Bryant supposed to be out?

Mack will have surgery to also repair ligament damage with the broken bone. He's done.

Bryant is out for the year with an ACL. Browns have been real lucky on the injury front this year. Most other teams have lost a starter or two for the season. Browns avoided it until yesterday.

Is This Real, Cleveland?

The Browns beat up the Steelers, and the best might still be to come for Mike Pettine's bunch. Plus, the story behind Aaron Rodgers' fake spike, DeMarco Murray as Emmitt Smith, J.J. Watt's MVP chances and the rest of Week 6

I’ve got a lot to say about the insanity of this season, about the Cowboys being up and the Seahawks down, about the Patriots being left for dead on the side of the road and now this, about Aaron Rodgers pulling the Dan Marino fake spike in the House That Dan Built, and I will soon. But the top of the Week 6 column belongs to the Cleveland Browns.

The contending, competent, fun, just-might-be-for-real Cleveland Browns.

One of the most interesting comments from the Steelers after yesterday's game came from Brett Keissel who said: "The Browns are the best team we have played this year."

When one considers the Steelers have faced Carolina and Baltimore, that's quite a compliment. Here's a mention of it in the Pittsburgh Gazette story:

Added a new poll since it's unlikely Manziel will see any meaningful action this year, barring injury. Time to start guessing win totals!

Remember that we also played Baltimore extremely tight; they beat us by two on a last-second field goal.  Cleveland's two losses this season (including one to Pittsburgh) are by a total of five points (though of course, before this game, their two wins were by a total of three points).

Our next three games are against teams with a combined record of 1-16(!), but in the immortal words of Han Solo, "Great, kid!  Don't get cocky."

Interesting little factoid that's been confirmed:  Brian Hoyer was born the day Bernie made his first start (10/13/85).

Yep, Kosar beat Houston after throwing bombs to WR Clarence Weathers. I was at the game the week before against New England when Bernie came in after Danielson got hurt trying to tackle Raymond Claiborne after throwing an interception. Kosar led the Browns to a win against the AFC's eventual Super Bowl representative.

BTW I have a very good memory for things that happened 30 years ago. 30 days ago? Not so much....... ;)

Something like that. Ever-worsening damage was being done up until July 20, 2003. Living one day at a time since.

What a wonderful day today, savoring the demolishing of the Steelers while knowing they just lost half of their die hard fan base.

The afterglow of that win has been awesome.  Combined with the Jets and Giants losses, I was a total bitch at work!

Having said that, I predict a loss next week!  ;)

The black and yellow things didn't play nicely with security and CPD this weekend.  Evidence of such has gone viral.

Many weddings in "Steeler Country" have no need for an aisle to separate the congregation....

This is better....

Browns should be able to win in Jacksonville...but will they?  Is the on-field product finally worth the public's trust?

well, the next 3 teams have combined for one win, so yes the browns should be winning for awhile.

however, is browns.  :-o

The Brown will lose.  These three teams are all desperate for a win.

The Browns historically play at their opponents level.

I predict they lose two of the three.

I think the Steelers game is an aberration, and that they return to close frequently heartbreaking games with at least 2 dumpster fires before the end of the year.

Hoyer back to pass...batted down!

What am I watching?

A team without their starting center.  Hard to do much when you can't run the ball.

San Diego's on their third or fourth center.

They likely have backup centers that have played the position before.

All other issues aside. Can somebody explain to me how Hoyerd throw that went 10 plus yards was a fumble?

I didn't understand that, either.

Good call. Worst offensive output under Hoyer since he became a Brown. Funny how fast the Manzielots came out from the shadows!

Cincinnati lost to a good team on the road, but I was surprised they didn't even score a point.

Shocker of the day went to Seattle in losing to the 1-4 Rams.

Well that was ugly.
