October 20, 201410 yr All other issues aside. Can somebody explain to me how Hoyerd throw that went 10 plus yards was a fumble? The ball only went ten yards due to the impact of the hit. Hoyer was not in a throwing motion so it was the proper call
October 20, 201410 yr The Brown will lose. These three teams are all desperate for a win. The Browns historically play at their opponents level. I predict they lose two of the three. Good call. Worst offensive output under Hoyer since he became a Brown. Funny how fast the Manzielots came out from the shadows! Cincinnati lost to a good team on the road, but I was surprised they didn't even score a point. Shocker of the day went to Seattle in losing to the 1-4 Rams. Manzielots! Lol I like that a lot! This NFL season seems very hard to read. The most consistent team this far has been....Carson Palmer's Arizona Cardinals? :drunk:
October 20, 201410 yr I'll agree to disagree. He was throwing as he was hit and the ball released at past his helmet. The ball went that far because of the throwing motion not the impact, the hooked arm did cause it not to roll off his fingers cleanly though. Check out at 1:21. I surprised that wasn't overturned. If that was a no call on an opposing quarterback would you have screamed that it was a fumble? Although the coaching staff may need to remind the Browns to PLAY TO THE WHISTLE, EVERY PLAY. They were standing there with their thumbs in their ear holes. http://sports.yahoo.com/video/cleveland-browns-quarterback-brian-hoyer-190800272.html Whatever, In the big picture, I am just splitting hairs from watching that with my Browns fan glasses on. The bigger issues are (still) run defense and what to do with the O-line with Mack out. Mc-whatshisname was not serviceable as a guard. It was like having O'neil Cousins back up there. Get Greco back to guard and let's plug McDonald in at center. I am assuming that he'll be an upgrade since center is his natural position. Also our sub average receiving corp finally fell back to earth, so that's still a hole that needs addressing. It was interesting to see Pettine double down trying to get a momentum shift, past coaches would have played it safe the whole game. Thankfully I worked from home this morning and spared myself from listening to Booms verbally jerk off over JFF.

Thankfully I worked from home this morning and spared myself from listening to Booms verbally jerk off over JFF. I thought that a lot of Hoyer's early problems were due to drops, but he looked like he let that get to him. Later on, it was him and it might have been worthwhile to let Manziel see some time. Passing on the FG made no sense and Poyer's muff was a brain fart of the first magnitude. When the TTUN bleep-bleep scored, my first thought was where's Kirksey with a late hit when he's really needed....

October 20, 201410 yr That was 8.0 on the Brain Fart Richter scale. Com'on man it bounced off your face mask. Your face mask! On the 2 yd line. I know you want to be the hero but let that ball pass. I don't think JFF would have helped or throwing him into that would have helped him. He would have ran around and got punished by the Jags D-line men. What was with the pace with 4 minutes to go?
October 20, 201410 yr A non-issue has been beaten to death. So with that.... "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
October 20, 201410 yr I guess Agnew must've had a really bad game. He was released today and we promoted some rook off the practice squad. I think yesterday was a combo of things. We had plenty of chances to win that game. The final score is not really indicative of that, but Jax scored all those points in the 4th when we were pressing. Jax's front seven on D had a great game and our O-line had their worst of the season. It is going to take the line awhile to recover from losing their 'quarterback'. Our D-line was terribly thin with Rubin, Phil, Winn, and ABryant all out. Skrine had an awful game, but I thought the defense on the whole played relatively well. There is simply no excuse for losing to a rookie QB who throws 3 picks. The offense was out of rhythm. Hoyer's timing was off. The WRs need to make a few of those spectacular catches (like the one Cameron dropped when he was falling down) and it might've been a different game. Also, I would be curious as to the thought process of leaving TWest in the game in short yardage situations. He is not the RB I would trust to make sure we got the first down. This is one of those games where I might be hesitant to even watch the tape if I was in charge.
October 20, 201410 yr I agree, I thought the defense played a pretty good game as thin as they were on the D line. I counted four drops by the WR. Two by Hawkins, one by Gabriel and one by Austin. Our WR are the weakest link on the team and it really showed today. I though Hoyer's timing was off all day but it's hard to not let drive the killing drops hurt your psyche. That was one of the most painful games I've ever watched, so much that I had to turn the game off in the 4th quarter. I scared the bejesus out of my five year old by screaming at the TV so much.
October 27, 201410 yr Impressive win, eh? Why, because we're all talking about it?!? ;) I would have taken this ugly win a thousand times over last week's loss to the Jagoffs. Crazy to think we should be 5-2 right now. Well hopefully we're 5-3 going into the first battle with Cincy after next week! Going 2-1 against teams with a combined one win still works for me.
October 27, 201410 yr I just expected a little chatter. A win is a win is a win.... If I had the time to watch the tape, I would love to figure out what the hell is going with the O-line run blocking. Is it really just Mack's absence or is the tape out on destroying the Brown's zone blocking.

Is it really just Mack's absence or is the tape out on destroying the Brown's zone blocking. I understand that Mack was a huge loss, but an entire O line doesn't usually go to ruins so dramatically. Maybe the Browns offensive scheme has simply become too predictable. Hoyer just looks really uncomfortable to me.
October 27, 201410 yr They need time to gel. Maybe the line will be more cohesive by the time they play Cincinnati. They're in the thick of it; they need to play well against the division from here-on-out.
October 27, 201410 yr Crazy to think we should be 5-2 right now. We're only as good as our record. I think 4-3 is what we've shown on the field this year. If I had the time to watch the tape, I would love to figure out what the hell is going with the O-line run blocking. Is it really just Mack's absence or is the tape out on destroying the Brown's zone blocking. Someone on the radio this AM had a great description of it, that Mack was calling out the protection schemes based on what the defense was doing. He was calling them right just about every time. Without a running game, Hoyer is vulnerable and yes, uncomfortable as surfohio notes. Even with no running game yesterday, Hoyer was able to play well enough to get some very good stats and the win, but he also had several interceptions dropped. October 28, 201410 yr OMG how weird is this. Right now on MNF we have Colt McCoy against Brandon Weeden. McCoy runs for a score, Weeden 2 scoring drives. It's kind of surreal. I'll bet Holmgren is glued to the TV.

I'll bet Holmgren is glued to the TV. Was interesting watching Colt play with some WR's that can run under a 4.6 40, he did a nice job averaging 10 yard/attempt and beating Dallas on the road.
October 28, 201410 yr I just checked and the "ugly" Browns win over the Raiders still counts as a win according to the NFL. 4-3 with a chance to get to 5-3! Not expecting a pretty game here either when we're playing without our best interior OL, best WR, and best TE on Offense, and Who, What's his name, and Just a Guy on the DL due to all the injuries.

October 28, 201410 yr Just out of curiosity, is there a site out there that tracks all the injuries among all NFL teams throughout the season? Someplace that would allow one to make a quick comparison across teams to see which ones have suffered the worst and least from injuries? I'm just curious to see whether the Browns are really uniquely cursed in this regard or if everyone out there is losing people to injuries and it's just to be expected with the nature of the sport. Obviously, we can see the results from losing Mack, but I'm interested to see if there are other fandoms out there expressing the same thoughts about their own lost stars.
October 28, 201410 yr That only has data on those that might be coming back soon, from the look of things. Note that Mack isn't listed under the Browns section there, which means that if other teams have lost critical cogs for the whole season, they'll be similarly absent from the comparison.
October 29, 201410 yr How about that guy Tashaun Gipson? He is quickly becoming one of the very best in the entire league. Total ball-hawk center fielder. Good against the run and on the blitz to boot.
October 29, 201410 yr Letdown. I've been hoping the Browns would pick up Vincent Jackson. Me too. But the Bucs wanted too much in return. I doubt the Browns were willing to part with more than a third-rounder. I heard the Bucs wanted a second-rounder for the 31 year old. Just imagining the AFC North trying to defend Gordon/Jackson/Cameron would be really something.
November 3, 201410 yr Predicting a loss today! Thanks. Keep up your reverse karma! Ugly win -- I'll take 10+ of those every season, please. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 3, 201410 yr We have a borderline crisis at Center A crisis indeed: I think #77 was supposed to help out on that one.
November 3, 201410 yr I just watched that on repeat about 10x in a row. Yowza! How old is Steve Everrit?
November 3, 201410 yr We have a borderline crisis at Center A crisis indeed: I think #77 was supposed to help out on that one. No. McCoy stunted into the Center's gap and made him look like a freshman playing in his first varsity game. At most, Greco is supposed to give the guy a shot with his left hand, which he tried to do. And keep in mind that McCoy might be the most dominant interior DL in the game today (he is the highest paid). But, regardless, no NLF OL is supposed to get pancaked like that. He has to keep his feet moving and get better leverage. I believe that actually happened twice yesterday to McDonald....... getting knocked flat on his butt by a bull rush.
November 3, 201410 yr I'm so glad someone made a Vine out of that. Watching live, I remember that play and one other time McDonald got put on his butt. It's probably why he didn't even play D1 in college. This crisis is why we are averaging about 50 yards rushing per game over the last 3 games against 3 of the worst teams in the league. I don't think people realized how valuable Alex Mack was.
November 3, 201410 yr Take a keystone out of a strong wall and the wall is seriously weakened. Mack was a keystone. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 4, 201410 yr Why that loss more than the Pittsburgh loss, the Baltimore loss or any other future close loss to a division rival? "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 4, 201410 yr john telich @JohnTelich8 17s18 seconds ago 2 Greg Little revenge is a dish best served cold. Says "somebodies gotta pay" Thurs. 4 what?Hadn't #Browns fans paid enough? #Bengals #Blot Oh Greg, just DROP it! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 4, 201410 yr Greg Little has 4 catches for 55 yards and has only played 22 snaps for the Bengals this year - a pretty good ratio. That said, with AJ Green back he probably won't get many snaps against the Browns, I don't think he played at all against Jacksonville, if he did he wasn't targeted.
November 4, 201410 yr And a hardworker. He's a typical a Brown's island of misfit toys player. A receiver that really can't catch.
November 5, 201410 yr With Green back and Sanu quite healthy, I doubt Little will pose much threat to the Brownies. Y'all probably needed him more than we do. And "probably" is an understatement. I'm not sure what the Bengals people were thinking when they picked up another Wide Receiver.
November 5, 201410 yr The Browns needed to keep Little as much as the lowly Raiders did. Why the Bengals picked him up is mind-boggling. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
