Wouldn't it be great if Kiser could show enough progress so that the pick doesn't have to be a QB?

Also, I really hate how the Browns have surrounded a rookie QB with guys that can't catch. Or TE's who can't block. And an offensive scheme that completely forgets you can still run the ball.

SPeaking of TE, I find it hard to believe that Gary Barnidge lost his job to these scrubs.

have permits been secured downtown for the ofer parade?

Have permits been secured for the demolition FirstEnergy Stadium and redevelopment of this valuable, underutilized site?

From a diehard Browns fan who has died hard, can we please admit that bringing this team back in 1999 was one of the worst decisions in Cleveland and NFL history? It's time to make lemonade from this lemon. If Cleveland loses the Amazon HQ2 longshot, use the untapped incentives to pay the Browns to leave and raze the Factory Of Sadness.

^ You know, if you did circulate a petition to tear the stadium down I wonder how many people would sign. My guess - a lot.

Also I don't feel the NFL has been guilted enough for their complicity in the historic ineptitude of the Browns.

How is the NFL complicit with the ineptitude of the Browns? With the amount of number 1 picks this organization has received, there is no way the team should be so terrible every frickin year. I guess when you blow picks on guys like Johnny Manziel, this is what happens. Even so, you'd still think with the talent from top round picks alone, the team would be somewhere in the middle of the NFL pack ala the Bengals.

Here's how I see the NFL as complicit:

-Unnecessary THREE year hiatus. You don't need that much time to build a front office, ridiculous. That was to punish the city.

-Not giving the Browns the same draft advantages that JAX and CAR received. Really, that was a big deal.

-Forcing Carmen Policy on Al Lerner. Policy's bad management was haunting and akin to building a new house on a crumbly foundation of ineptitude.

-Giving the team to Tennessee Jimmy Haslem.

what did Jax and Car have that the Browns did not?

The Browns get the same amount of first round picks as any other team. If you mean first overall, this was the first time they've picked first since 2000.

Well the Browns have had 12 top 25 draft picks since 2010. For contrast, The Bengals, a pretty middle of the road type of team, have had 8 in that time period. But point taken, I had assumed the Browns had more overall #1s.

Go with Golden Monkey. Makes everything better in life, even Dee's expansion team.

Looking like the end of the Eli Manning era in NY. I'm not the biggest fan, I think he is third best in that draft class behind both Roethlisberger and Rivers. We've seen that Eli absolutely needs elite WR's and a solid run game to prosper. But he's still a good player with years left and so benching him is a stupid move....unless they are tanking on purpose.

Now with the rumor mill of Jimmy Dee Haslam bringing in Peyton into the fold, the thought of Eli as Browns QB is an intriguing one.

He's more likely to reunite with Coughlin (front office) in Jacksonville, where the Bortles experiment seems to be a disaster.

Eli definitely benefited from a stout D in the two Super Bowl years, but I don't think he played with any HOF-caliber WRs?  I don't follow the Giants each year so who knows.  Still, I think it's 1) Big Ben, 2) Eli, 3) Rivers.

Ok I wouldn't say HOF level, but Manning had guys like Victor Cruz, Amani Toomer, Hakeem Nicks, Odell Beckham, Sterling Shephard, Plaxico Burress. Rivers with a historically bad o-line averages like 30 TD's a year throwing under pressure to undrafted practice squad WR's like Tyrell Williams and Dontrelle Inman. He elevates the ability of the WR's, while I can't say that Eli can do the same. At least not now.

When I saw "highlights" of Blake Bortles vs. Blaine Gabbert it was so weird. In my mind they are the same person lol.

I will always hate Eli for the way he handled himself on draft day. I remember listening to the draft on the radio in the car with my dad, and being completely shocked and disgusted when he said he would refuse to play for the Chargers. What a classless little brat. The only thing that has redeemed him a little is that he kept the Patriots from winning two more Super Bowls.

Agree, it tainted his career and there's always going to be those pouty photos of him holding the Bolts jersey! Also I remember his father was doing a lot of the talking for him, which made Eli seem passive, immature and withdrawn. Then again, the Chargers did prove to be a dysfunctional organization after all, so there's that.

Anyhow if this guy is available do you want him?

I say heck yeah.

watch the browns mess up the ofer parade by beating the bears on christmas eve, their last gasp chance for a win. wouldn't that be just like them? lol.

I need to review the tapes, but I think it's possible this team sucks.

Sashi Brown was fired.

Rumors are that the Browns are interested in the Vikings' Rick Spielman.

Been out of town since last Wednesday and I slightly giggled upon seeing pretty much nothing in this thread since the firing

Is there a legitimate reason why the Browns are sticking with Kizer and not signing Kaepernick instead?

Is there a legitimate reason why the Browns are sticking with Kizer and not signing Kaepernick instead?

Yeah, Kizer will be a successful QB1 in this league.

See Aikman and P. Manning on "atrocious" rookie seasons. He has shown consistent improvement every.single.game with little to no talent around him save, now, Josh Gordon.

Browns fans love quick fixes that don't exist without a successful team installed around them. We ran Brian Hoyer out of town at 7-4 for Johnny Manziel.

This is not a quick fix. Karperneck could've started with Kizer on the bench learning.

Because what the Browns need is another QB who sucks on the roster?

Kaeperneck has an 88.9 career QB rating and took his team to 2 conference championships and 1 superbowl.

Yeah, Kaepernick isn't a bad QB, that wasn't my personal rationale for my comment above.

My Response is to X.

He came out of the gate strong, but his numbers went downhill, and his W-L record the two years before he was out of the league were 2-6 and 1-10.  How does adding him to the team help improve us?

this is the old throw the rookie in or let him sit and learn arguement. there is no correct answer, especially for a team like the browns.

is he that great and a possible franchise qb? then get colin or somebody and sit him and let him learn while the browns build talent.

is it all hands on deck? then play him.

obviously its the latter.

the new gm is very qb oriented, so he will likely go after one.

in that case it makes sense all along to just play kizer now.

not great for kizer's ego, but what the heck, he can suck it up, at least he has a job and starts for an nfl team.

outside of free agency, here is a list of potential college pick ups:

The Browns have messed up so many QBs over the years, and never really seem to learn their lesson. The Bengals do a LOT of things wrong (most things, tbh) but one of the best moves Marvin Lewis ever made was to sit Carson Palmer his whole first season, in favor of the old back up Jon Kitna. Nobody thought Kitna was going to be the answer, and there was a vocal segment of the fan base that wanted to put Palmer in, as he was a first round pick and had so much promise. But giving him the whole year to learn the playbook and adjust to life in the NFL was so key for his development. It also allowed the Bengals to build two draft classes around Palmer, so when he stepped on the field, he had a better group of guys around him. I don't understand why this concept is so hard for so many teams, Browns included.

Not every team changes the regime every couple.  I was with you on Kizer, but now that there's a new sheriff in town, let's let the kid play and see what he can do.  If not, there's always next year.

here is the draft situation laid out for everybody:

Can't wait for the Browns to screw up TWO top ten picks!

Very Stable Genius

Yeah, if the Browns could have Sam Darnold and Saquon Barkley, I would pee my pants. At this early stage, I'd add a CB at the top of the second round and a WR with their #2 second-round pick. But I'll dive deeper into the draft when the season is over. Because the Browns routinely suck in the regular season, the off-season/draft has become my Cleveland football season.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the Browns were the high standard by which other football franchises were judged. Now...

the browns will beat the bears on christmas eve and screw up the ofer parade -- because browns. vegas should get in on that.

A better perspective....

Since the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18, 2015 the following has happened in Cleveland sports:

The Cavs won 1 NBA Championship

The Indians won 1 AL Pennant

The Lake Erie Monsters won 1 Calder Cup

The Browns won 1 game

Hue's press conferences are terrible. He's always contradicting himself and sounding aloof. Then again, some of the questions he and the players are getting are pretty bad. I did like how he apologized to the fans.

Did anyone else hear some reporter ask Kizer "How in the world did you not see those 3 Ravens defenders when you threw that last interception in the end zone?"

What makes Rosen think the Browns won't be drafting #1 overall in 2019, too?

I agree.  These spoiled brat kids need to understand that if they guide the Cleveland Browns to a Super Bowl championship, they will go down in history, rather than just a blip in the NY media's spotlight.    Just ask Lebron James what it meant to win a championship here....

You didn't have to wait until midnight to watch the ball get dropped. Just watch the Browns.

I was thinking, yeah, Coleman's drop was really bad, the whole season in a nutshell. But even if he did make the catch, I honestly don't think the Browns would have scored a TD anyhow. I can't even imagine the Browns getting past the PITT defense, they just haven't shown the ability. By dropping that ball Coleman simply saved Kizer from being the goat in making yet another red zone INT or fumble.

The parade allegedly has 4,000 attendees so far. That's good for the economy, I guess.
