AFC Central is wide open this year. Could be a surprise that sneaks in there. Pittsburgh looks old and without Bell for the first 10 weeks, they lose a major offensive weapon. If Pitt can get off to a 4-5-1 start, they will not make the playoffs. Batimore looked good against a bad Buffalo team. Does not say anything there. Best two teams in the division at the end may be Cleveland and Cincinnati.

AFC Central? You're in the wrong century.  8)

I think the Houton Oilers have a chance....

It will always be the Central, none of this North nonsense!!! Bring back the glory days of Brennan, Newsome, Byner, Mack, Kosar and Webster Slaughter.

yeah the troubles were mostly with the o line and special teams. no comment on tt given the weather other than ben was worse so thats something positive. no comment on not winning given the steeler turnovers and opportunities. thats an issue for a seasoned team not this one as yet. the big picture is of course the huge leap forward in being able to come back and tie. to pick one player, ward really surprized me as i took him as way too undersized for the nfl, so he impressed greatly. im really curious and looking forward to this team playing on a nice day so we can better see what we have. the saints game next week is in nola right? so that will be a good clear look right away.

My thoughts:

Garrett and Ward are both looking legit- excited to see a few round 1 picks actually may pan out for once!

We were slow to take advantage of what should be a great running game, and we gave up on the run the minute we fell behind, again.

The O-line is made of wet tissue paper.  Can we ask the Saints to play us schoolyard style with no lines and a 3-Mississipi count instead?  Hell, 1 Mississippi would give TT more time.

Ward does look like a gamer. That being said I think he's in a position where there's bound to be growing pains. Don't be surprised if he may has some off games esp vs. QB's like Brees, Rivers and Carr.

I would think New Orleans would have an advantage on things involving the Mississippi.

My gut instinct is the Browns will stun the Saints at home.  The Bud Light coolers will be open next weekend.

I don't see the Saints starting 0-2.

Ha!  I didn't even think of that!

No, but they could start 0-1-1  ;)

Browns 0-0-16 baby!

And make the playoffs.

ties are so odd in football. when is the last time any team ended with two ties? have any ever had three? not sure but i dont think so.

Go Browns!

Hey, my 8-8 season is right on schedule.

wow so there were actually 6 teams with 3 ties in a season. san diego had the most recent 3 tie season in 1970. while its still a big step up for the browns, lets not hope for any more ties/setting a new tie record lol.

Ties were all the rage when the league started back in the 20s and 30s. Of course, Canton, Dayton and Pottsville, PA had teams in those days too.

Ties are going to increase in frequency with OT scaled back from 15 to 10 minutes. Last year, the Browns would have had three more chances to blow the win.  ;D

I did not even go there but still familiar with all the Coach Kyle quotes.

I'd honestly take a bullet for that man.

When sports translates to life, one of the greatest lessons he ever taught me was that until we played a perfect game, with no turnovers, with touchdowns every drive, with no missed tackles, with no penalties - then we can look to blame the referee. But if and when that perfect game ever comes, there will be no need to blame anyone, because we will have won.

I remind myself of that all the time. When its easiest to blame someone else, always try to look in the mirror first, as painful as that may be.

Same goes for the Browns team this week.

^ I know this is off topic, but how much longer do you think he coaches?

So that Jets game that was circled for a "win" isn't looking like such a cake walk today.

^^

Not sure, could be as soon as a few years or as long as another decade or so. We won states my senior year, and at the beginning of that season there were alumni saying "the game had passed him by"... so we'll see

Speaking of the Jets, Darnold looked great.  He should have been our #1 pick (but time will tell)

I love these week 1 overreactions, like the people calling for Fitzpatrick to take over for Jameis in Tampa.

My assessment of Darnold vs. Mayfield is not based on an overreaction to one game

^ well ward is well undersized and did great so keep hope alive that baker will do the same someday.

Anyone coming down to New Orleans for the game?

Wow. Sounds like he relapsed. Sad. You can't help some people.

Browns to release WR Josh Gordon

Probably for the best, for him and the team. Sucks though.

I don’t understand the point in cutting him. You’re telling me they couldn’t get ANY value for him? They way this team just absolutely lights assets on fire is comical.

There are reportedly five teams interested in trading for him. Teams already calling the Browns, who league sources believe are far more likely to trade Josh Gordon than release him. Gordon is a vested vet and is not subject to waivers. So if he is cut, he is a free agent and can sign where he wants, for what he wants. A lot at stake.

I'm glad the Browns are doing this, as they did with Michael Kendricks, Corey Coleman and other screw-ups. No more being dumping ground and baby-sitters for the Dwayne Bowe's and Kenny Britt's of the NFL. This is going to be Josh Gordon's Chris Carter moment or he's going to die young. Time for some tough love.

Bill Belichick would have cut the guy years ago if he were with the Patriots!  The Browns look silly cutting him now because it's obvious they only kept him because of his ability.  The guy is deeply troubled and needs to work on getting well.

we were going to go to the ny browns backers bar today to watch the game, but after this the shot penguin will be working overtime and its guaranteed to become a drunken madhouse lol, so i’ll lowkey watch somewhere else.

lets face it the browns are about to get maybe an 9th round pick or whatever from the raiders for gordon. i wonder if they could have done better if they had waited and quietly tried to trade him later instead of this kneejerk publicity? of course no matter how carefully they broached it other teams would know there was trouble with josh, but i wonder if they have done it differently and gotten more value than they are likely to get now.

Die young?  The guys smokes a little weed now and again, maybe at worst drank some purple drank.  I feel bad that he couldn't keep on the straight and narrow, but he's not shooting up heroin in alleys here.  If anything this says as much about how stupid the NFL rules on drugs are as it does about Josh Gordon.

i am trying to have faith, but after the false hope of a lead through three quarters its looking like those beer coolers will stay locked for awhile. ugh.

The kicker needs to go, but even if he hits that XP, theres a lot of time left to drive into field goal territory.

Hue needs to go. The record speaks for itself. Despite all the money spent and the high draft picks, the offense still looks average to me. I wouldn't throw Baker in there. You've got Landry, and Callaway is okay but still raw. Thats it.

The mentality of the whole organisation needs to be more ruthless.

yeah the kicking was a disaster.

i guess the locks will need to rust off the beer coolers.

Same old Browns. I'll be back when they replace their kicker, ST coach, and quarterback. But I won't be all the way back until they also replace Mr. 1-32-1.

Don't drop f-bombs or call people p-ssy's on UO. -x

Hue is now 1-32-1. I get the continuity argument but it's time. There's a very credible argument in which the Browns are 2-0 against two Super Bowl contenders. Zane didn't help the cause but Hue is in control of this mess. A winning culture needs to come from someone who can coach wins.

If they choke to the Jets on Thursday, at home against a non-playoff contender, it should happen immediately after the game.

another tie this week too — i guess we will be seeing more of those.

Same old Browns. I'll be back when they replace their kicker, ST coach, and quarterback. But I won't be all the way back until they also replace Mr. 1-32-1.

What exactly was "get rid of him" wrong with Taylor today?  Some inconsistency and one pick, otherwise a good game.

The offense is sorely missing a big target man. That should be Gordon, but yet again, the Browns will probably be spending a high pick on a receiver next year. Not impressed by Njoku at all in year two either.

Browns have averaged 19.5 points in two games. Tyrod is averaging just 220 yards in two games. Defense playing out their minds and the Browns are still 0-1-1.

Just sayin'.
