Have you ever tried to watch a full NFL game from before like the late '80s? Ugggghhhhh it just hammers home how important good TV coverage is to American Football. But NFL Films always made it look bad ass.

Hell I watched some Tim Couch coverage from 2000 a couple weeks back and it might as well been from 1977!

More emphasis on killer hits then though. The early 2000s video game cinematic highlight reels tell the tale. I recall Madden 2000's clips for PS1 were especially brutal.

i dont see where winston is an upgrade over flacco. younger doesnt figure as its only a one year contract.

the chargers are way over the cap and have to shed by 4pm — i hope the browns are on that.

They don't want fans chanting "Flacco! Flacco!" whenever Watson gets sacked or throws an INT.

Cleveland Browns to sport white face masks in 2024 season

Jake Trotter, ESPN Staff WriterApr 17, 2024, 11:28 AM ET

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns are harking back to their glory days with a slight uniform change.

The Browns announced Wednesday they are bringing back the white face masks the franchise wore during the 1980s heydays. Cleveland wore brown face masks last season.

Cleveland Browns 2024 NFL draft picks: Selection analysis

CLEVELAND -- The 2024 NFL draft began April 25 in Detroit. The Cleveland Browns started their draft on Friday, drafting Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. in the second round.

ESPN provided pick-by-pick analysis of each of the Browns' selections as they were made.

What's next for Browns after finishing Watson draft pick payments?

Apr 30, 2024

BEREA, OHIO -- The thought hadn't crossed Browns general manager Andrew Berry's mind. But the end of the 2024 NFL draft marked a milestone in the team's trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Cleveland, which in March 2022 sent six draft picks to the Houston Texans for Watson and a 2024 sixth-rounder (which was used in the deal this offseason for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy), no longer owed any picks to Houston in the blockbuster deal.

Berry, though, said he's looking forward to having a full slate of picks in 2025 -- including one in the first round for the first time since 2021 -- and that efforts to build the roster aren't over after making just six selections over the weekend.

In 2025, the Browns will have their own picks in Rounds 1 to 4, as well as in the sixth round. Cleveland will also have an extra pair of sixth-rounders and a seventh-rounder as part of the trade for pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith last offseason and the deal that sent wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions at last season's trade deadline.

"How we deploy them, we'll see over the next year," Berry said of the picks.

To be fair, some of the strength of schedule is due to the fact that every team in the AFC North ended the season with a winning record and that accounts for 6 games.  No other division came close.

12. Cleveland Browns

Post-draft ranking: 12

Who's on the hot seat: LT Jedrick Wills Jr.

Wills has started 53 games for the Browns since being selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. But he enters a contract year returning from a torn MCL that limited him to eight games in 2023. Wills remains on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, and there's no timeline for his return. He needs to show not only that he is healthy but that he's still the long-term answer as a blindside protector. -- Daniel Oyefusi

espn predicts —

Cowboys at Browns

4:25 p.m. ET | Fox | ESPN BET: CLE -2.5 (40.5 O/U)

Cowboys storyline to watch: The Cowboys will be starting two rookies on the offensive line for the first time since 2011, and one of them, left tackle Tyler Guyton, will be going against the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett. The other, center Cooper Beebe, will be asked to make the calls against a defense that was the best at home last season. The Cowboys will not ask Guyton to block Garrett alone all the time, but there will be times when he will have to face Garrett one-on-one. Quarterback Dak Prescott has confidence in the two rookies, but their first game at a difficult venue against a top defense will be a challenge. -- Todd Archer

Browns storyline to watch: The Browns will unveil a revamped offense they hope can get QB Deshaun Watson back to Pro Bowl form, but Cleveland has questions beyond its starting signal-caller. Left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. told reporters he won't start as he continues to come back from a season-ending knee injury, which could force right tackle Jack Conklin to move to the left side, a position he hasn't played since college. It would be a tough transition for Conklin, who is returning from his own season-ending knee injury, against a pass rush led by Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons. -- Daniel Oyefusi

Stat to know: Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is five receptions away from being the fastest Cowboys player to reach 400 career receptions, passing Dez Bryant (80 games).

Bold prediction: Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman will score a touchdown. The 2023 third-rounder turned heads this offseason and figures to play into Cleveland's offensive plans this season. Plus, the Cowboys are hurting at corner with DaRon Bland out 6-8 weeks with a foot injury. -- Walder

Fantasy X factor: Browns running back Jerome Ford. The Cowboys' defense led the league in pass rush win rate last season (59.5%) but was unable to stop the run, finishing 27th in run stop win rate (28.6%). It would be wise for the Browns to be balanced on offense even with running back Nick Chubb on the physically unable to perform list. Last season, in relief of Chubb during Week 2 against the Steelers, Ford scored 24.1 fantasy points, and he averaged 12.9 points during Weeks 3-17. See Week 1 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Browns were 7-0 ATS as home favorites last season.

Kahler's pick: Cowboys 30, Browns 21
Moody's pick: Cowboys 24, Browns 21
Walder's pick: Browns 28, Cowboys 24
FPI prediction: DAL, 51.0% (by an average of 0.4 points)

And so it begins.   Another season of pain?   Or joy?

What are the UO predictions?

That was so bad.

I'll get my thoughts together...

But Kevin Stefanski deserves better from his QB. I watched SO. MANY. OPEN. RECEIVERS. get missed by 5-10 yards.

I said it the moment pen hit paper - that is one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history.

You and me both--sat in the 500 level for the first time at the Huntington Bank Factory of Sadness--it was crazy how long Watson was holding onto the ball while there were open options downfield.

Maybe it is still premature or hyperbolic to call it the worst in NFL history, but damn, this cap hit and loss of draft picks is kind of insane. The entire league is once again laughing at the Browns right now.

Why, he had four touchdowns and threw for nearly 300 yards.

Oh wait, that was the the Tampa game.

Joe Flacco had four 300+ yard games in 5 played.

Watson is 0-13 in that stat with the Browns.  Even with Nick Chubb lining up behind him for some of them.

Elite, I think not...

I was 500 level as well. There were at least six plays where he had 4+ seconds to release the ball before he even had to scramble. Not a single one was a completion.

Yes of course!    I was just adding on to the 300 yard benchmark comparison.

I know this is hardly Browns specific, but it sort of is. Can we please get rid of the worthless penalty for ineligible receiver downfield?

Deshaun Watson faces new sexual abuse allegations in Houston; woman accuses him of violent outburst

Updated: Sep. 10, 2024, 6:45 a.m.|Published: Sep. 09, 2024, 4:57 p.m.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was sued Monday in Houston by a woman who claims Watson sexually assaulted her on a date.

The filing comes a day after the Dallas Cowboys pummeled the Browns and Watson, 33-17. The allegations follow more than two dozen lawsuits brought by massage therapists in Houston, who accused Watson of sexually assaulting them.

I'm sure it's a conspiracy against the poor, good man.  Afterall, the Browns have had 30 some odd starting quarterbacks since '99, and every single time one of them turned out not to be working out, someone halfway across the country came forward to accuse them of sexual assault.  SOP, folks, SOP.

Or maybe the opposite of all that.
