Swami, prediction?

^^ I'm glad someone's optimistic; my stock is for sale, going cheap.

Anderson still looked like crap.. I'll give him until the 2nd quarter of the Giants game before he gets yanked.  I'm not a Brady Quinn honk, but DA just isn't cutting it, and the Browns don't have time to let him "work through the problems."

Clearly, Anderson hasn't been playing top level football, but I honestly don't think he's the reason the Browns are losing these games.  What was different last year than the previous 8?  The O line was much improved.  This year with Steinbach and Tucker out, the O line has been mediocre again.  I thought that play improved last week, after the line gelled in the first half somewhat following Steinbach's return.  While the bye week may not be enough to save the season, it couldn't possibly come at a better time.  If the O line can get and stay healthy, and gets plenty of practice during these 2 weeks, it can only mean good things for the offense.  Actually getting Jurevicius and Stallworth on the field wouldn't hurt either.

forget jurevicious playing this year...stallworth should be back this week, lets see if that frees up Braylon

I've heard from some people to literally forget about Jurevicious playing this year.  He is nowhere close, and may be done.

^ Yeah, I suspect we've seen the last of Joe, which is too bad, he did a hell of a job for them last year and is a stand-up guy.

yeah, that is shame. here is the post-knee injury deal on homeboy joe j. from the browns site:

"Jurevicius had multiple procedures on his knee during the offseason. He'd been hoping for an early August return before suffering a setback in July."

from another site - looks like the earliest we should know anything about about his status is week 7 and the latest week 9:

"Jurevicius starts season on PUP: The Cleveland Browns have placed WR Joe Jurevicius on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (Reserve/PUP) list. Jurevicius will spend the first six weeks of the regular season on the Reserve/PUP list. During that time frame he will be able to attend meetings and continue his rehabilitation with the club in Berea, however, he will not be eligible to practice. After the sixth week, the Browns have a three-week window (Weeks 7-9) to allow Jurevicius to start practicing. League rules also stipulate that once a player begins to practice with the club, he will have another three week window from that starting date before the club has to make a decision on his roster status.

Injury Report

Knee - PUP. Out until at least Week 7 at Washington"  :|

Report: Kellen Winslow is having some swelling issues

By Chris Chase

I've never found crotch-hitting to be all that funny. Oh sure, videos of a toddler swinging a plastic baseball bat right into dad's special area are good for a cheap laugh, but think of who's on the other end of that laugh: the dad who got hit in the junk.

It is with this, that I hesitantly, and squirmingly, pass along the following information: Pro Football Talk reports that the "undisclosed illness" which has befallen Browns TE Kellen Winslow is one that has caused his testicles to have swollen to the size of grapefruits. Of grapefruits. Again, this is an unsubstantiated report, so take it with a grain of salt.

There are some very serious conditions that are associated with swollen testicles (cancer included), but the most common cause seems to be an injury to that particular area. Since Winslow is in a profession that probably sees more testicular injuries than, say, accounting, we're hopeful that this is nothing more than a reaction to a kick in the groin. Either way, I think I can speak for all men when I say, "Kellen, we feel your pain... but not literally."

In the meantime, maybe Winslow can put this on his iPod.

WINSLOW HAS SWOLLEN, UM, PARTS?

Posted by Mike Florio on October 10, 2008, 12:51 p.m. EDT

A league source tells us that the talk among the Browns is that tight end Kellen Winslow landed in the Cleveland Clinic because his balls swelled to the size of grapefruits.

(We think that technical term is testiculus coconutus.)

Actually, one explanation for the situation is a condition known as hyrdocele.  And while the condition in itself isn’t serious, it could be a symptom of testicular cancer.

And, yeah, I squirmed in my chair the entire time I typed this.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/10/winslow-has-swollen-um-parts/

I think that first down, sealed the deal for the Browns!

Well played game, with the exception of the final minutes of the first half!

Who gets game balls?  Sorry KW2     LMAO!!

I think it's pretty obvious that DA gets a game ball tonight... great game!  Nice to see Edwards put a good game together too... but he still dropped a ball or two.  Great game all around!  Time to turn the season around!

This is the type of game the city has been waiting for!!  The Browns shut up every commentator who predicted a Giants win.  Great game!!

One thing that worries me is the amount of penalties the Browns commit every game.  This game had 7 false starts committed by the Browns... which is unacceptable.  The team has to fix this problem as they will be playing with more confidence than ever for the rest of the season.  I can say that I am definitely expecting more wins like this during this season!!  GO BROWNS!! :drunk:

Offensive line needs props here.  Anderson wasn't touched all night by the Giants' scary defense.

I agree.  Penalties and the two minute offense need lots of work.

Other notes:

– First win on MNF since '93

– No Punts attempted

Man oh man were people loud after the game last night.  Not that I mind - but it was pretty crazy.  The Ave. Dist. is almost a good mile from Browns' stadium, but people were still honking and screaming and singing "Who let the dogs out?".  I could've done without that awful song, but GO BROWNS!!!!

Awesome game. The worst part was waiting for the clock to run out to really celebrate...

Where did this defense come from? The D-backs are really developing. Let's just hope that RAC, Chud and Tucker can come up with this caliber of a game plan in 6 days, and don't need an extra week everytime.

Offensive line did a great job pass protecting, but played as though they never stepped foot on a field.  They really need to get their heads out of their as@ if they want more games like this.

Offense looked good, but defense won us that game.  Holding the Giants to 14 and nothing in the second half is what won the game.  Secondary gave Manning a chance to throw, but had tight man coverage on receivers to meet them at the ball.  D-line did not penetrate ta lot, and the blitz was ineffective, or just run at the wrong time.  All in all, O-line better be running some laps this morning and have better gotten their as@ chewed out after that performance.  Nothing to be proud of.  Could have ben game spoilers, and will be some day if they keep that up.  So so quarterbacks don't throw for over 300 yards every week.  Anderson had over 100 in excess yards last night which is great for him, but won't happen all the time.

GO BROWNS!!!

It was a nice game plan, but the execution is what made the difference.

I've heard from some people to literally forget about Jurevicious playing this year. He is nowhere close, and may be done.

I remember watching him play against my high school back in 1992. He was a man among boys--taller, faster, bigger than anyone else on the field. We were lucky enough to have a freak of our own-- a talented 6'4" db who could somewhat hang with JJ. We beat Lake Catholic that day, but he almost single-handedly pulled out the win.

Nice job Browns! They showed lots of shots of the city, it looked great as well!

Awesome game, but to say it again.. TOO MANY PENALTIES!

For some reason, I though the Browns beat the Steelers on Monday night back in...maybe 03, or 04.  They kept saying first win since 93' though.  Maybe it was a Sunday night game.

Awesome game, but to say it again.. TOO MANY PENALTIES!

Too many STUPID penalties.

Browns take apart Giants, 35-14, on Monday Night Football

BY RALPH VACCHIANO

DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

CLEVELAND - The Giants always knew their magical ride was going to end sometime, and it's probably better that it happened early.

But that won't make last night's sloppy, disappointing and surprising loss to the Cleveland Browns any easier for the defending Super Bowl champions to take.

BLUNDER-FUL DEFEAT ENDS PURSUIT OF PERFECTION

By PAUL SCHWARTZ

October 14, 2008 --

CLEVELAND - They had not lost a game in so long - 10 months, to be exact - that the Giants did not remember exactly how to respond to such disappointment.

"It's humbling," Antonio Pierce said.

I love coming to work on days when the Indians/Browns/Cavs beat a New York Team!

The guys in my office have to wear Dog Masks today!  I'm lovin' it!  :-D

I'm waiting for the sports networks to discuss how well the team played without Winslow.

I hope the boys don't get a bighead and prepare well for the Redskins.

They must stay focused!

The level of parity in the NFL this year is unbelievable.  Consider the NFC East division's weekend, Giants lost to the Browns, Cowboys to the Cards, and Redskins to the Rams, and this division was supposed to represent the best the NFL had to offer.

yeah. unfortunately for the brownies the redskins are gonna be hopping mad after that loss.

hopefully winslow gets well soon *cringes re that injury*

The 'skins have shown to be a mistake prone team, if the Browns play ball on Sunday like they did last night, we should be able to capitalize on mistakes and come out with a win.  They will not score 35 points, but have the opportunity to leave DC with a "w".

hopefully winslow gets well soon *cringes re that injury*

Cue:  Accidentally falling on your 10 speed bike cross bar memories!  ouch! :|

I went to to game last night, and crowd noise played a decent factor in this outcome as well.  Eli used two timeouts during the game when the giants couldn't hear.

What a great game to remember!  and yes, downtown was loud and crazy afterwards.

I wonder if there is a study to suggest how much is spent in the city during a Browns game.  Id also like to see a Friday-Monday weekend analysis versus a non game weekend.

I was also at the game.  The crowd was loud, louder than I realized until the game was over and my ears were ringing slightly.  Not only was downtown loud and crazy afterwards, but people going to the game seemed to be everywhere several hours ahead of kickoff, not just near the stadium...everywhere I walked I could hear people barking.

What where the restaurants, bars, lounges, etc like?

On Sports Center after the game, they broadcasted live on the field from CBS. There were people still in the stands yelling the entire broadcast. I think Browns fans have been holding it in and let it all out last night. I was just electric.

What where the restaurants, bars, lounges, etc like?

WHD was packed, both before and after (and I would assume during).  The outdoor seating was mostly filled with people in Browns jerseys, as were the parking lots.  I noticed that several of the restaurants had special menus made up for the night, Crop and Johnny's being two that I looked at.  I ate a somewhat late dinner on E. 4th, and the patios were all crowded with people in Browns gear when I arrived, although they were definitely emptying out by the time I was done, which was fairly close to kickoff.  Walking back to my apartment after the game, all the bars and clubs in the WHD seemed to have large groups of people outside, almost but not quite as crowded as the peak time of night on weekends.

This was a great showing for the Browns!!!

What where the restaurants, bars, lounges, etc like?

To add to what ExSpectator said, the E. 4 activity spilled over through Theresa's to the Cadillac Ranch patio.  As I was waiting for the bus at about 9:45 last night, I noticed there was a nice buzz on Public Square.

Thank the Lord for Cadillac Ranch!!

^or as MTS would say, "thank the lawwd"

Stellar outing by Derek Anderson. Why have Brady Quinn just sit? When Anderson is sucking, why not put in Quinn?

Wow...looks like the management is really losing the reigns on this team.

Staph infection sidelined Winslow, who says Browns GM Savage didn't show concern

by Mary Kay Cabot

Sunday October 19, 2008, 9:00 PM

Browns tight end Kellen Winslow revealed to the Plain Dealer Sunday night that his previously undisclosed illness was a staph infection and that he's upset with the way the team handled that situation and others regarding him.

did anyone else notice how wide open winslow was on the last play of the game for the Browns? DA tried to force a throw into Braylon across the middle, when Winslow was running a side-out route that had left him with a ton of open space.

DA's performance yesterday was garbage absolutely horrendous, which is a shame given how well our D played and others like Jamal Lewis and our OLine...

Helluva of player and even better person..........RIP Gene

winning as the 4th qtr?

gulp.

go browns!

Big win today for the Browns.  That was a must win if we want any hope of making the playoffs.  We now hold the tiebreak over the Jaguars if it would come down to it.
