October 23, 200618 yr nope, the rochester station is the ny one as is the jamestown. wow... this thread hasn't had much activity this season... where's all the passionate Browns fans? well at least i got to see the televised game today. quietest crowd i've ever seen and for good reason. that was the most boring game ive watched this year. the browns d and special teams are ok, but the o is really raw. you'll prob get some passion in the next few games if and when the boo birds come out.
October 23, 200618 yr nope, the rochester station is the ny one as is the jamestown. incredibly, you're correct... I just assumed these were small Ohio towns of the same name. I wonder why Jamestown and Rochester stations would broadcast games of the distant Cleveland Browns... when they are in the heart of Buffalo Bills country, who have a strong and passionate following... surely broadcasts of the woeful faraway Browns don't bring in very strong ratings for these stations... That Rochester station also broadcasts Baltimore Orioles games. Western NY has no MLB team of its own... and the Rochester Red Wings have long been the AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles (they're now the AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins). I've heard the Orioles have a pretty decent following in Rochester.
October 23, 200618 yr The Browns looked horrible. There is no way to sugar coat the issue, they are just terrible. The city looked nice on TV though.
October 23, 200618 yr I went to my first game at the new stadium. Its pretty nice. The Browns suck, but the stadium is nice.
October 23, 200618 yr I went to my first game at the new stadium. Its pretty nice. The Browns suck, but the stadium is nice. *new* stadium....you are just a little behind the times.
October 23, 200618 yr I went to my first game at the new stadium. Its pretty nice. The Browns suck, but the stadium is nice. *new* stadium....you are just a little behind the times. ?? In comparison to the old lady on the lake (built in 1936), CBS is new.
October 23, 200618 yr ^true, it is newer than the "old lady" but I was more so referring to it as being open the past 7 years for operation now. I think that the stadium has been broken in by now, and would just be referred to as the stadium rather than the *new* stadium. just a minor observation of mine...take it or leave it :|
October 23, 200618 yr The Browns looked horrible. There is no way to sugar coat the issue, they are just terrible. The city looked nice on TV though. Once in a blue moon (maybe two or three times since their return) we get to see them on TV in So Flo. The autumn shots of the city were beautiful and it was cool to the see the new windmill next door at the GLSC as part of the backdrop. As for the Browns, well, they suck!
October 23, 200618 yr Sure do! I was there yesterday too. I've never had seats that good, but to see what? Garbage! I'm thinking back now and can't remember seeing them win a game at the "new" stadium in person. Question: how many home games have they won since coming back into the league? Interesting site for ya'll: http://www.firemauricecarthon.com/home.htm
October 24, 200618 yr Ok, I'm a nerd, so I'll answer my own question... We've been back in the league since 1999. We've won 37 games in that span of time, which averages out to about 5 wins per season and a .314 winning percentage. 18 of those wins were at home and 19 were away. We've averaged 15.7 points per game over that span of time, which means a lot of really boooooring, low scoring losses! I mean, I could live with an 0-16 season if every game was like that 48-58 loss to the Bungles in 2004! Actually, that'd probably drive me crazy too, but it'd be a helluva lot more fun!
October 24, 200618 yr My family has never been into sports. I think it goes back to my grandpa. I remember being at his house on a Sunday afternoon, and Bernie Kosar threw an incomplete pass into the ground. "What a bunch of bums!" He crowed. I think he watched a play a week.
October 24, 200618 yr So is it time to start thinking about next years draft yet? Pretty much...and now we can add a cornerback to the list of "needs". Baxter might be done for good with two blown patellar tendons.
October 24, 200618 yr Carthon has been fired. I fully expect the offense to become the best unit in the league now. ;) The PD said something about the good ol' Ignatius boy LeCharles Bentley coming down with a staph infection. Sure hope he's ok.
October 28, 200618 yr Okay...I will take the heat for this one...BUT...... The Browns aren't as bad as people may think. We have weapons, we have experience..there are a few parts that need to be plugged in, but overall...they aren't that bad...and yes..even the O line! People need to realize that a decent lineman in a poor blocking scheme makes him look bad. When a coach impliments certain plays or schemes (a la Carthon) and won't listen to his players concerns, bad things happen. Not quite the same level, but when I was in school, my class lost 2 football games from 7th grade to 10th grade....the HS coach left to move up to the college level...my final 2 years we won a total of 4 games...against mostly the same teams we beat the shit out of all those other years. Did we suddenly become terrible, or did coaching have a lot to do with it? Point being, I think the Browns are closer than people realize. Don't expect HUGE changes this week against the Jets, but I think we will see a better team as the season goes on.
October 28, 200618 yr I think there's a lot to be said for having the same core unit for more than a season. In addition to coaching, team chemistry is a big deal. Everyone in the NFL (pretty much) has the talent to be there. It's just a matter of fitting them into the right places and getting them to work well with the guy next to them. I can't help but be optimistic about what the Browns "could" be. I mean, what choice do we have? We can't just give up! On that note, I'm going to yet another home game tomorrow. Can we break this streak of home losses? It stands at 3.
October 28, 200618 yr Yes browns. Please win. Or I'll have to hear shit around the office until next year!
October 28, 200618 yr On that note, I'm going to yet another home game tomorrow. Can we break this streak of home losses? It stands at 3. Maybe thay only lose when you go to a home game. Weren't you at the St Ed's v St Ig game too? :-D
October 28, 200618 yr I'll be at the game as well -- I'm still waiting for my first home game win as a season ticket holder....
October 28, 200618 yr Maybe thay only lose when you go to a home game. Weren't you at the St Ed's v St Ig game too? :-D As a matter of fact, no I was not! But that doesn't mean I'm not jinxed...
October 30, 200618 yr The Browns have the same record as the Steelers and the Redskins. A thing of beauty. ;)
October 30, 200618 yr The looked really good in the first half! They sort of lost momentum, and couldn't score in the red zone, but overall I thought the defense stepped up, the O-Line protected pretty well, and Winslow....well..he's just hella sexy!

October 30, 200618 yr This win does put a kink in my Brady Quinn/Troy Smith draft plans. good thing mine are still on target!
October 30, 200618 yr Super-Bowl! Super-Bowl! Better off going to Old Country Buffet. wimwar must be talking about the Fantasy League Super Bowl. I love the Browns, but the only way the Browns are getting into the superbowl is if it's a fantasy!

October 30, 200618 yr you know....that was a touchdown at the end. you know its true. no question that jets dude woulda had both feet in if he wasn't bashed out of bounds by pool. i'm just sayin...!
October 30, 200618 yr you know....that was a touchdown at the end. you know its true. no question that jets dude woulda had both feet in if he wasn't bashed out of bounds by pool. i'm just sayin...! Hell yeah. after I saw that I turned, fearful the game would go into OT. Then when I switched back, they said the ref called the play on the field and that it was out of bounds. Hey....the Brownies got a break....for once!
October 30, 200618 yr Well, that's very subjective, which is why it wasn't reviewed. There's no telling whether he would have gotten both feet in bounds or not. It definitely looked possible, but it would've been one helluva catch if he did. As it was, I think we caught a break, but I'm not going to say it was a sure thing!
October 31, 200618 yr I'll say it - it was a sure thing, absolutely no doubt he would have landed in bounds. But I'm happy that if there had to be a bad call, that it went the Browns way, finally! I think that was the same officialting crew that called the BS roughing call on the Bengals a few weeks back...

November 9, 200618 yr ^How about the 2006 Bengals...entire LB core, OL, a few WR's, DB's...not to mention the various suspensions and what not! Getting a bit rediculous for Ohio teams :| there was a great article about the roster cap in espn (page 2 methinks). Sayings its old and outdated. Their argument was that because of the Salary Cap, a roster cap is unnecessary. Also some commentary on how stupid the injured reserve is.

November 10, 200618 yr that's not good news mgd, but i'd say the ny giants have a lock on the most injury riddled single team at the moment. yeah ef them who cares but im just sayin. now the browns and bengals injuries added all together is another story. i read today that four of seven of the nydailynews reporters picked the browns, first time i've seen a positive majority anywhere go for the browns to win.
