June 13, 200718 yr It sounds like BQ is going to need some work so hopefully he realized this and tells Condon not to F around. I just hope Braylon doesn't give him any advice. :-)
June 13, 200718 yr Word on the street is that Brady Quinn bought a house across the street from the Browns QB coach.
June 13, 200718 yr Word on the street is that Brady Quinn bought a house across the street from the Browns QB coach. Where is this?
June 20, 200717 yr ^ I'd rather give Anderson a shot at running the offense.. because it's clear that Frye has the intelligence of a sack of rocks. Hey, at least if Anderson shows he knows what he's doing, he could be good trade material next offseason.
June 22, 200717 yr Can anyone explain to me why an unproven rookie like Brady Quinn can come in and negotiate like he's Peyton Manning? Even LeBron got rookie pay for the first couple years!
June 22, 200717 yr Yeah poor Lebron only made $5.8 million this year in his last year of his rookie contract..
June 22, 200717 yr Can anyone explain to me why an unproven rookie like Brady Quinn can come in and negotiate like he's Peyton Manning? Even LeBron got rookie pay for the first couple years! and the NBA has specified rookie maximums.
June 22, 200717 yr Can anyone explain to me why an unproven rookie like Brady Quinn can come in and negotiate like he's Peyton Manning? Even LeBron got rookie pay for the first couple years! In the late 90s, the NBA set it up this way. Before then, NBA rookies were coming into the league and demanding (and receiving) 8-10 yr guaranteed contracts that paid massive sums of money. A lot of these rookies never panned out and the teams were left paying ridiculous sums for substandard players. The NFL does not have guaranteed contracts. Therefore, we could cut Brady after a year and not pay for the entire contract like you have to do in baseball and basketball.
June 25, 200717 yr Will Bill Cowher return to the NFL to coach Brady Quinn and the Cleveland Browns!?!?!? COACH CHIN PLOTTING HIS RETURN? A league source tells us that there is already talk in league circles that former Steelers coach Bill Cowher is planning his potential return to the NFL. Per the source, Cowher already has spoken with multiple teams about filling a potential vacancy in 2008. The teams, the source says, are believed to be the Browns, Redskins, and Panthers. Another league source confirms that Cowher has had at least one private discussion with Redskins owner Daniel Snyder about the possibility of replacing Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs, if Gibbs calls it quits after the 2007 season. June 26, 200717 yr The national media isn't looking too favorably at the Brownies this year. Most of the major sports outlets (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Fox, CBS) have the Browns at 31 or 32 in their power rankings. And I've heard numerous "analysists" claim the they won't be able to compete in the AFC North, and that this is another rebuilding year. But then again, when did any national media paint the Browns in a positive light? The news hasn't been great since the draft. First we hear about how the new offense is coming along slowly, then how negotiations with Brady Quinn and Joe Thomas are going to be rough, dirty, and long (on a side note, Antonio Pittman has already signed with the Saints). Only the defense is receiving high marks thus far. I hope that some good news comes out of training camp in a few weeks!
June 26, 200717 yr Well, as the saying goes, Offense sells tickets, defense wins games... right?

July 1, 200717 yr This is excellent news. Though I don't know if the human body can fully recover from all of the injuries and surgeries. And what an inspiring story it'd be for both LeCharles and Gary Baxter to overcome the impossible make a comeback. Bentley will try to come back this year Told last fall his career was over, Browns center hopes to defy odds by returning to field Sunday, July 01, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter Despite being told he'd never play football again, Browns center and hometown favorite LeCharles Bentley said this week he'll try to make a comeback this season.
July 2, 200717 yr I'll be interested to see whether or not he can play a full season without injuring his knee.. my guess is he won't be able to. Although, it'd be great if he could play and play well.
July 17, 200717 yr Ugh.. on NFL Live today they pretty much said that Brady Quinn was one of the least likely to be in training camp on time since he was drafted so late but was slotted high by teams along with the fact the Browns open the earliest in the league.
July 17, 200717 yr ^Not sure if you're kidding - if you are, excuse this post -- but here's an article from the PD that explains the water damage. It happened on Saturday sometime during the Kenny Chesney concert I think. I'll just post the link and not the whol earticle. http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/1184661768101160.xml&coll=2 I know it happened, its suspicious that its only happened at country concerts. I smell 1950s propaganda at work! :-D
July 17, 200717 yr July 17, 2007 For Immediate Release BROWNS REVEAL CAUSE OF WATER DAMAGE AT CLEVELAND BROWNS STADIUM On Saturday evening, Cleveland Browns Stadium suffered water damage in several areas in and around the facility due to a break in a sewer line. While the cleanup is still underway, Cleveland Water Department and Cleveland Browns officials have announced that the causes have been determined. The nature of the bands performing at this concert caused an influx of attendees from western Pennsylvania. These patrons turned out to be unfamiliar with the concept of flushable indoor plumbing, being accustomed to outhouses. This led to them wiping with leaves and old rags they brought themselves. Local fans following them up in the stalls, disgusted, flushed the toilets themselves. This caused the leaves, rags, etc to enter the plumbing system. The situation was exacerbated by the western Pennsylvanians, unaccustomed to drinking properly treated and cleaned water, producing high density constipated stool. Additionally, some of them brought yellow and black towels to the concert. These are considered contraband by many local fans and were confiscated and flushed. Unfortunately, many of these towels were old and had never been laundered, gaining up to three times their original weight in various contaminants. The combination of this unusual density of waste and various toxic chemicals found in these towels caused a blockage in the sewer system, and eventually breach and failure. The Cleveland Browns organization promises that corrective actions will be taken to prevent recurrence of this unfortunate event.

Philadelphia Eagles Cole: I can't wait until all the Patriots fans tell me how stupid I am for putting the Chargers in the top spot. Why not Colts fans, you say? Indy fans are way too milquetoast to get in anybody's face. More telling is the fact that AFC teams occupy eight of the top 11 spots. That's a pretty strong eight and just about any one of them could beat the best the NFC has to offer.
July 24, 200717 yr SI also had the Browns ranked last in the league.. I'm not worried.. nobody saw the Saints run coming last year.. every year has their Cinderella.

July 26, 200717 yr trade winslow now! God, I love to look at the man...but he's not contributed to the team at all. I'm sick of his lack of production! Trade him!
July 26, 200717 yr trade winslow now! God, I love to look at the man...but he's not contributed to the team at all. I'm sick of his lack of production! Trade him! Gotta disagree. In what was effectively his rookie year, he had 89 receptions last year, most among NFL tight ends. This with Braylon having an off year and no other major threats. Plus an epic punking of Joey Porter. By the way, here's the training camp schedule of practices open to the public (copied off the Browns site): 2007 Training Camp Practice Schedule Practice Date Time Special Events 1 July 27 3:30 - 5:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 2 July 28 8:45 - 10:45 AM Locker Room Sale, Blood Drive at BWC, & *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 3 5:30 - 7:30 PM Locker Room Sale *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 4 July 29 2:30 - 4:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 5 July 30 8:45 - 10:45 AM 6 5:30 - 7:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 7 July 31 2:30 - 4:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 8 August 1 8:45 - 10:45 AM 9 5:30 - 7:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 10 August 2 2:30 - 4:30 PM 11 August 3 8:45 - 10:45 AM 12 5:30 - 7:30 PM 13 August 5 2:30 - 4:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 14 August 6 8:45 - 10:45 AM 15 5:30 - 7:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 16 August 7 2:30 - 4:30 PM 17 August 8 2:30 - 4:30 PM *READ with the BROWNS Day at Training Camp 18 August 9 2:30 - 4:30 PM *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 19 August 13 2:30 - 4:30 PM 20 August 14 8:45 - 10:45 AM Locker Room Sale 21 5:30 - 7:30 PM Locker Room Sale *Kendrick Fincher Gatorade Collection 22 August 15 2:30 - 4:30 PM 23 August 16 2:30 - 4:30 PM
July 26, 200717 yr Erocc and if he had not injured himself he could have been better. Joey Porter...LMAO! Tony Gonzalez (um, yummmy) is still "da man" at tight end. Winslow has a loooooooooong way to go before being able to say he is that good.

Winslow has a loooooooooong way to go before being able to say he is that good. I'd rank Antonio Gates (undrafted out of Kent State) ahead of Gonzalez right now, with Winslow 3rd or maybe 4th behind Crumpler.
July 26, 200717 yr trade winslow now! God, I love to look at the man...but he's not contributed to the team at all. I'm sick of his lack of production! Trade him! Are you kidding? He catches pretty much everything that's thrown to him. He had 89 receptions in a year where his knees were shot. I think that he'll really emerge as a leader in the new attack offense because of his familiarity with Chudinski's schemes.
July 26, 200717 yr trade winslow now! God, I love to look at the man...but he's not contributed to the team at all. I'm sick of his lack of production! Trade him! TE and LB are the two, possibly special teams.. explain why we'd wanna TRADE a strength with no upcoming potential star behind Winslow?
July 26, 200717 yr ok...I didn't look up the facts. He just seems to be hurt all the damn time! if only he was 17 years older, not an athlete and about 5" shorter. ummmm :|

July 27, 200717 yr Browns, Thomas agree to five-year deal; Quinn still unsigned Thank goodness! I don't think Brady Quinn will sign anytime soon. If he was smart, he'd suck it up, sign, and get into camp. It's going to tarnish his image with Browns fans, most of which are working class folks, to hold out a long time for an exorbitant amount of money.
July 27, 200717 yr Cleveland Browns agree to terms with Thomas, Wright Friday, July 27, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter Browns first-round pick Joe Thomas and second-rounder Eric Wright agreed to terms Thursday night and will be on the field this afternoon for the opening of full-squad training camp. That left first-rounder Brady Quinn as the team's only unsigned rookie. Quinn's agent, Tom Condon, did not return phone messages. More at cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com
July 28, 200717 yr Cleveland Browns camp opens without Bentley Team patient as Pro Bowl center delays physical Saturday, July 28, 2007 Tony Grossi Plain Dealer Reporter Center LeCharles Bentley did not make his anticipated return to the practice field on the first day of Browns training camp Friday. Instead, the team worked behind the scenes with Bentley and his agent to smooth relations and chart the next phase of his attempt to come back from four surgeries on his left knee in the past 12 months. July 28, 200717 yr Cleveland Browns draft pick Brady Quinn remains a holdout Saturday, July 28, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter General Manager Phil Savage acknowledged that Brady Quinn's holdout hurts his chances of starting - but indicated he was a long shot to start the season anyway. "Obviously it's important for him to get here as soon as possible," said Savage. "With every day that passes, it eliminates some of that chance. I would say that coming into this training camp, for Brady to win the job, he was going to have to perform at a level that was clearly better and obviously better than Charlie [Frye], Derek [Anderson] and Ken Dorsey. July 28, 200717 yr Baxter soon? Savage said cornerback Gary Baxter, coming off twin torn patellar tendons, could be activated off the PUP list by Monday, but will be worked in gradually. "He'll tell you that his knees feel better than they did before the injury, which is quite amazing," said Savage. "I have a connection with Gary going back to our days in Baltimore and Baylor. I knew he was going to be back the day he was in the hospital and told me he'd be back. "It's something that has never been done before with both patellar tendons. Everyone has been excited with the progress he's done throughout the past year." That's the truly unbelievable story of camp, people are so impressed by Bentley, but Baxter had BOTH knees torn.
July 29, 200717 yr Cleveland Browns offense to see healthy dose of Winslow Sunday, July 29, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter Tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. played through pain in his right knee last season because he felt he owed the Browns after his season-ending motorcycle accident in 2005. But he underwent microfracture surgery on the knee Jan. 30 to alleviate that pain and participated in contract drills Saturday just six months after the controversial procedure. July 30, 200717 yr Jaguars pick up Couch Monday, July 30, 2007 From wire reports Tim Couch, whom the Browns selected with the No. 1 overall draft pick in 1999, signed a two-year contract with the Jaguars on Sunday, getting a chance to revive his career as a backup to quarterback Byron Leftwich. Couch has not played a down in the NFL since the 2004 preseason. The contract will pay Couch the veteran minimum of $595,000 this season if he makes the team. He would earn slightly more in 2008. Couch could end up supplanting Quinn Gray as the team's third-string quarterback - a move that would save the Jags about $700,000 this season.
July 30, 200717 yr Cleveland Browns receiver Braylon Edwards looks to catch more, talk less Monday, July 30, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter If all goes as planned, Browns receiver Braylon Edwards will be seen more and heard less this season. "I don't know, but hopefully he doesn't talk quite as much and he concentrates on football more," said coach Romeo Crennel. "I think that's what he's trying to do -- be the best football player he can be." More at cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com
July 30, 200717 yr Browns quarterback Brady Quinn not close to signing Monday, July 30, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter Quarterback Brady Quinn, who has held out the first three days of camp, is training in Arizona and does not appear close to signing a contract with the Browns. General Manager Phil Savage said Sunday the two sides are "right there" on some things but that they just haven't been able to get it done yet. More at cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com

July 30, 200717 yr Cleveland Browns Winslow hires Rosenhaus as agent Sunday, July 29, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter Tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. has dumped controversial agents Carl and Kevin Poston and hired Drew Rosenhaus, another controversial representative. Rosenhaus, who represents at least 16 other players from the University of Miami (Fla.), also represents temperamental receiver Terrell Owens and has a reputation for renegotiating contracts.
