Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

^ I’m loving the plate discipline and forcing pitchers to throw a lot of pitches. I was at 5 out of 6 of these home stand games (had to miss the Sat night win due to Journey concert) and we played very solid baseball. Could easily have taken both against the Padres. Things are looking good right now.

Amazing comeback win for the Guardians at the White Sox last night!

Frustrating that the articles on the game on Cleveland.com are riddled with as many errors as a White Sox defense (clearly the writers didn’t actually watch the game) and MLB.com *still* managed to make Othani their top story (for the 1,836rd consecutive day). If he’d done what Naylor did last night, they would be filming the mini-series already.

Naylor was possessed yesterday.

Yeah Naylor went absolute beast mode last night!  MLB Network’s MLB Central led with the comeback and Naylor’s big night and did a great job of breaking down Owen Miller’s at bat that led to Naylor’s approach on the grand slam.  And how awesome is it we got those two guys and Quantrill for Clevinger anyway!?

Guardians swept by the lowly Reds. Only 3 hits today. Nice game by Tyler Naquin.  I wish he was still with Cleveland.

So now we have a player getting injured running in from the bullpen.  Good grief.

"Shaw is day-to-day after Francona said he tweaked his calf while running in from the bullpen for his June 1 appearance against Kansas City. Shaw pitched through tie injury at the time, but Francona is trying to give him as much rest as he can."

I do love day games, wish we had more of them.

^ I’ll be there today for the DH. Also got to see us on the road in Baltimore this past weekend. There were a *ton* of Guardians fans at that series.

The name change hasn't changed their luck with the weather.

yes it's very weird how the second place guards are seven games behind the twins and have played seven less games than them.

oh well, the good news is they took 3 or four from the lowly a's --- now its time for a rocky mountain high 3 game set vs the rockies --

bieber starts today -- if he can unfreeze his face (that's a justin joke). 😅

Reminds me of Manny having 165 RBIs in 1999 and STILL not winning the MVP. Went to Pudge that year.

Update: AP sources confirmed David Blitzer is gaining minority share for 25%-30% with rights to take control in 5 or 6 years.

Confirmed as Blitzer

This is a gamechanger along with the new TV deal coming.

I can't believe we beat Kershaw (well, no-decisioned him). An in LA no less.

Could be in first place in less than 24 hours (Twins playing in Arizona tonight).

Edited by TBideon

Had it not been for that fielding miscue last Saturday, they might have already been in first place. Oh well.

I jinxed it folks. Frustrated by both games.

Come on Arizona, what the F was that???

Some interesting deign thoughts and observations:  https://www.insomniacstudios.co/cleveland-guardians-logo

The decision to copy and paste the current Cleveland Indians brand identity onto the Cleveland Guardians feels as if it was made out of fear of fan retribution or an attempt to maintain the status quo. Whatever the reason, the new Cleveland Guardians logo designs feel too connected to the team’s past and former offensive name.

This is revisionist. The name was offensive to like seven people.

Well thank you for that.  What this thread really needs is to dredge up this fight again.

I didn't post the article.

It's so nice to see - especially from such a young team.  It almost seems like just about everybody is making a contribution.  Even Myles Straw with the horrible year he is having at the plate is still contributing on the defense side.  If Oscar Gonzalez can stay hot on offense, that will help ease the blow of Straw's weakness at the plate.

Also it was great to see Civale have a halfway decent outing.  Getting him back on track will be nice.  If he falters, there are some great options in the farm system that are probably ready for prime time too!

Tied my a$$. We have a better winning percentage than the Twins.

Now this is a wild game!

Edit: Now bottom of the 9th. Boy, wild wasn't half of it.

A shame they reduced capacity at the ballpark.  The weekend games coming up vs Red Sox and Yankees could have drawn 40K+.

Boston this weekend, then back to the Twins early next week.

New York/Houston should be a fun series.

I gave up on them after they went 1-2-3 in the top of the 8th. I was stunned to see 30 minutes later they had won. The Guardiac Kids...

Guardiac Kids.  I like that.

5 losses out of 6 as I write. One sided losses in 3 of the last 4 games  and a home stand that could be  turning into a disaster.

One thing about the Guardians- Indians - there’s no team better at raising your hopes and then completely dashing them again.

Disappointing home stand no doubt, but they did win this afternoon.

They are struggling to score runs. They are averaging less than 2 runs a game since that 11 run game vs Twins last week. This weekend vs Yankees could be ugly.

Holy cow! The Guardiac Kids do it again!

Once again, I gave up on the game when they went down 6-3 in extras. I was stunned to see the chatter on Twitter this AM that they'd won.

I was listening to the game out here in NJ and it was thrilling.

i was extremely disappointed to see the attendance was about 12,000 for the night.

c’mon Cleveland - that’s not acceptable!

Edited by CleveFan

I was one of the 12,000.   I think the actual attendance was probably under 10,000.   I must confess we (and many others) left after the Twins went up 6-3 in the top of the 10th.  We got to the car, turned on the radio and heard Hammy going crazy.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Another walk-off home run!

well, at least the guards stopped the yankee buzzsaw for one day. glad to have them off the schedule for the rest of the season.

Nice win. I was expecting a sweep. Good job by McKenzie. Let's hope Reyes is finally breaking out of his slump.

i spoke too soon. the tigers are owning them now. the ... tigers? ugh.

Lethargic performance by Guardians vs Tigers probably due to jet lag from that 20 minute flight to Detroit.

Guardians are about to be swept by Tigers.  Good grief.
