Chief Wahoo says, "scalpem' tigers...make fabulous area rug!"

We'll do our best, though the red might clash with the existing color scheme.

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Betancourt & Fultz both have ERA's under 2 out of the bullpen, and Perez has a 2.05 ERA.. pretty darn good

yes and speaking of boring strengths and area rugs:

Indians 5, Tigers 4 (11 innings)

Indians fever is catching on like the bubonic plague!

Take that, you brutes.

Tigers 6, Indians 4

The game drew a sold-out crowd of 40,782 on a 70-degree evening. ... Westbrook started for Cleveland on July 4 last year with drastically different results, beating the Yankees 19-1 in Cleveland's biggest home win since 1950. ... Thursday's series finale will match two candidates to be the AL's starting pitcher in next week's All-Star game -- C.C. Sabathia of the Indians and Justin Verlander of the Tigers.

^that's savage brutes to you

oh koow --- soooo boring.

Yawn!

Tigers 12, Indians 3

yeah thats cc for ya. he is so erratic. sometimes he is untouchable. yet many times he, i dk how to describe it, throws lazy. he doesnt use his full body, he only uses his arms and throws off his heels. its painful to watch him fall away off the mound -- this is when he gets rocked for hrs. its always been this way, we just gotta live with it. otoh verlander seems a lot steadier from start to start.

There've got to be a LOT of eyeballs on the AL Central. The next few days, especially, with DET hosting Boston and CLE visiting Toronto. The Jay's are very strong at home, and Boston's on fire. It's gonna be tight!

Although the tribe lost tonight, I'd still like the post this positive article from the PD:

First-place Tribe heating up summer

Good show, Cleveland!

Seriously: you're what's making the AL so damn hot.

Sorry for the off topic-ness of this, but THIS is a catch:

granderson_catch_panels.jpg

Sno-cone!

Wotta weekend.

^ bah, it's gonna take a lot more than that to impress tribe fans -- kenny lofton used to do that every game.

loftontit.jpg

^True, but by making amazing catches does he help propel the Rangers to within a half a game of the best record in baseball?

Didn't think so.

At the All-Star Break..

Yes, at the All-Star break.

Fine.

The Indians RULE!

Sabathia...1 shut-out inning yesterday, Martinez...2-run homer that turned out to be the game-winner, Sizemore... embarrassing strikeout.  I'll take two outta three!

and then there's this:

Hafner to ink new deal

Travis Hafner is staying in Cleveland for a while. The Indians' designated hitter has come to terms on a four-year, $57 million contract extension that will keep him in Cleveland through 2012.

Now we have the big one to worry about..  I hope CC realizes that the franchise is committed to winning and will stick around rather then going to the Yankees, Red Sox, or the other money rich teams.

yeah, who knows?  whoever he signs with, he'll get more money in the first year of his contract than I'll see over the course of my career.  Problem is, there are only a few players in the league who have that kind of perspective.  Everyone celebrated Ken Griffey, Jr. for taking less money to come home to Ohio, but come on, it's not like he can't afford to buy groceries from week-to-week!

And Grady does it now, along with just about everything else.

Besides, this is Cleveland, former home of the Omar and Robby show.  We're a tad jaded where mere defensive greatness is concerned.  <}}}}}}}>(|BVD)

Fair enough.  I can use Indians blue instead of Browns Brown, at least during baseball season.  :-D

The bold colored print is something I've been using on e-mail lists and message boards for years, particularly when there's no "new posts to you" function.  It's common other places for people to use their own color/font combination.  It makes it easier to track your last post and replies to it.

^but we do have "new posts to you" function.

Erocc, of 1496 users, you are probably the only one who uses the large colored font. Whether you are or not, it makes you come across as somewhat obnoxious.

^but we do have "new posts to you" function.

I know, but it goes to the base thread.

I've commented on this on another board (where I'm a moderator) as well.  A few people there use distinctive fonts.  It's a little harder to do, but helps when one tries to focus on comebacks to them.  I've never heard a complaint there in over five years, so I was a little suprised when a couple folks commented here.

Remember, there's not too many people here representing my viewpoints, so I try to reply to replies when I can. That's how you learn stuff, and sometimes refine your opinions.   8-)

goes to the base thread? Not sure what you mean there, but mine always goes to the post last after i checked in on the thread.

I, for one, appreciate your viewpoints, erocc, but please understand that your bold, colored type gives the impression that you are screaming at the top of your lungs.

Who cares what font he uses..  What is this?  1984?  Do we all have to use plain black non-bold font?

Who cares what font he uses..

He may be misunderstood because of the fonts. Wouldn't you want to know if people were getting the wrong idea because of something that innocently did?

NOPE

Who cares what font he uses..  What is this?  1984?  Do we all have to use plain black non-bold font?

[glow=black,2,300]If this were 1984 we'd all be writing in green.[/glow]

I didn't get those impressions from the red font, it do however find it harder to read.

Anyway back on topic, I hope the Indians stay on track for the second half of the season.

1984 the book, not the computer screens haha.

In regards to the Indians, I hope that CC can get it back on track after getting shelled in the biggest outing of the year, he's pitched well verse good teams, but there was a bit more pressure in that last game to stay tied for first going into the break or being one back, in my opinion at least.

Also, I hope that now that his contract situation is settled, Hafner will heat us, he's hit well as of late, but is really having a down year.

i'm mad hafner is still in the division for the next four years. I was really hoping Dolan/Shapiro would really drop the ball on this one.

Well they still have time to live up to expectations on CC....

I came across this article on Larry Doby on espn.com.  I thought it was a well written article about one of our Indians Hall of Famers, so I figured I'd post here.

Eleven weeks to irrelevance

In the days following baseball's last great event, an event where Barry Bonds was given a standing ovation and Willie Mays rode around in a pink Caddy tossing balls to fans and police officers, in the wake of a three-part series celebrating Hank Aaron on "SportsCenter," something huge was missing.

Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge gets new contract today

4-6 over the last ten games around the all-star game? ouch.

hopefully they get back on track in this series w/ the white sox.

From ESPN Insider Rumor Central at www.espn.com:

Who: Jose Contreras - White Sox

Cubs?  Braves?  Marlins?  Indians?  Phillies?  Mets?

Teams watching Contreras

Jul 16 - A talent evaluator told ESPN's Buster Olney that the Cubs, Braves, Marlins, Indians and Phillies had people in attendance at Contreras' start Sunday in Baltimore.  The evaluator also had the following assessment of the right-hander: "Velo was 87-91 mph, and he tried tricking the hitters with [his] fork."  Contreras, signed with the South Siders through 2009, suffered his league-leading 11th loss and is now 5-11 with a 5.32 ERA.

Who: Kenny Lofton - Rangers

Indians?  Brewers?

Lofton getting looks

Jul 15 - The Dallas Morning News reports that Lofton has drawn significant interest from Cleveland and Milwaukee and that both teams had scouts at Saturday's game.  Despite the Rangers' struggles this season, Lofton, 40, has enjoyed a solid season, hitting .311 with a .396 on-base percentage and 20 stolen bases, but he's been vulnerable against lefties, hitting only .224 with a .333 OBP.

Bring back Kenny Lofton and Manny!

For his age, Lofton is having a great season, however he is not an everyday player in our lineup and he struggles verse left handers.

Hey hey hey watch that age discrimination talk, bub!  Damn whippersnapper!

He's a spot starter and a defensive replacement/pinch runner here.  If he has the right demeanor, he also has value as a veteran presence/mentor for Grady.

If we get Lofton, I just hope that his swing that lacks all fundamentals doesn't transfer to Grady.

Well we could always bring in Julio Franco and his swing.  :-D

(which I actually tried, playing softball, with some success)

Haha Julio is a free agent.. Just kidding..

Best giveaways of the season so far (in my opinion):

#1 - promo_sabathia.jpg

#2 - promosked_dualplayerbank_20.gif

Any thoughts on good promotions from seasons past?

disco weekend was fairly annoying.

less disco, more dollar dogs.

At least the C. C. bobblehead didn't come with removable jewelry and a matching Damon Stringer bobblehead (complete with gun).

Julio Franco signed with the Atlanta Braves.  A new role model for those of us fighting the aging process.  :)  I can remember his first stint with the Tribe, he was one of the last guys you'd expect to end up doing a Niekro.
