Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Sheff needs to shut up before he hurts himself and/or his team. Claiming that the umps are corrupt is not a good thing to do.

If it helps the tribe, let him keep running off at the mouth!

yeah were two back of the tigers IIRC.  So lets hope he f*cks up for the Tigers!

my point was that going into the indians series the Tigers were 3 games back of the Tribe, as of 6:03 today, the tigers are up 2.5.

Indians acquire Lofton, send minor-leaguer to Rangers

Associated Press

CLEVELAND -- Kenny Lofton returned for his third stint with Cleveland -- and another playoff run -- on Friday as the Texas Rangers traded the 40-year-old outfielder to the Indians for minor-league catcher Max Ramirez.

Also, I heard on the radio that Cliff Lee was optioned to Buffalo (using his last remaining option).  However, I haven't been able to find an article on it yet.

Another thought..

I wonder if Lofton will be able to wrangle #7 away from Joe Inglett, who isn't on the active roster, but is on their 40 man.

^^I heard from someone that Cliff was optioned to Buffalo as well.  I read in the PD today that he has 2 options remaining though.

it was only a matter of time before Grady became a 3 or 5 hitter. (clearly in my opinion)

I don't know which pist me off more, the clueless 1st base up thinking taking your bat off your shoulder is a swing to end the 9th or Borowski forgetting you have back Ordonez off the plate, throwing at him if necessary.

Tigers 6, Indians 2

CLEVELAND (AP) --

[glow=navy,2,300]For at least another 24 hours or so, the Tigers, who have been staggering around for weeks, are on top by themselves.

"Don't get excited about the showdown," Detroit manager Jim Leyland warned. "It's only August 14th. I'm not jumping up and down. If we lose tomorrow, we'll be right back where we started."[/glow]

how about wedge not advanced the runner to 3rd with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth? (by having jhonny at least attempt a bunt). Congrats on that contract extension wedge, you proved your managerial intelligence last night.

^ I got pissed myself when I saw Red Sox merchandise in the Team Shop the series prior to Boston coming into town.

The prophecy, fulfilled:

Indians 5, Tigers 2

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Slipping further behind Detroit in the standings was an option the Cleveland Indians couldn't fathom.

With their promising season in danger of unraveling, they needed a victory badly.

How badly?

"On a scale of 1 to 10?" closer Joe Borowski asked. "A 12."...

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=270815105

a shame they had to leave fausto in so long and we had to nail bite the 9th w/ borowski in there.

I was at the game and Fausto was electric, great start for him.

Still, I'm happy went sent up a guy for his major league debut (straight from AA Erie) and he kept us in the game. Don't worry, our young arms just keep coming.

It's been a second-half struggle for Indians, Tigers

Did the Cleveland Indians get the message?

This is their year to be the American League Central's leading team, taking their turn in a rotation that in recent years has included the Tigers, White Sox and Twins. They can't seem, however, to get out of their own way and let it happen...

Twenty-four Indians pitchers have won 20 games in a season, but no one in the last 33 years. C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona have a shot to join the elite group — will the rest of the Tribe help?

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Paul Hoynes - Plain Dealer Reporter

It's been 33 years since an Indians pitcher has won 20 games in a season. More than 50 years have passed since two or more Indians have done it in one season.

C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona, with 14 victories each, have a chance to do both this season if time and circumstance don't conspire against them...

Solid pitching. Big bats. This game gave me hope for BOTH teams:

Tigers 2, Indians 1

  • 2 weeks later...

Is this further evidence that Cleveland is a football town? The Indians are 5 games ahead of first place in September and no one has commented in just short of two weeks?

Six games in a row and possibly seven (I finally get to watch because their on WGN). One would hope you all jump on the bandwagon come October.

Pardon me, eight!
