Anyone who knows anything about sports knows anything can happen at anytime in any sport. I've been through the good & the bad but I will always be there until the end. How do you think cubs fans feel? Or any other team or city that have never been to a championship game in any sport.

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Sheesh. The Cubs. LOL. Yeah.

I guess I just don't wanna be in that club anymore.

Thats right honey, you tell'em!

Byrd says he used HGH to treat hormone deficiency

Categories: Breaking News, Impact, Indians in the Playoffs

Chuck Crow/The Plain Dealer

Boston - Indians right-hander Paul Byrd told FOXSports.com that he has used human-growth hormone under a doctor's supervision to help correct an adult growth-hormone deficiency. He added that he's no longer using it...

reading this thread i think that Cleveland is full of some of the most bandwaggon fans in the world.

Okay knock the thread but not the fans of a team that holds the MLB record of 455 consecutive sold out games. Not exactly what I would call bandwaggon fans.

Yeah, the sell out streak ended on the 2nd home game of the year.....

99% of the time, I don't follow sports at all. The only reason I've watched the Tribe this year is because my partner mildly follows them. Since he watches them, I get roped into figuring out what's going on and naturally I start to follow the games as well. However, it's like I said - it would be one thing if they played a respectable game but were still beat like... 4 to 2, 5 to 2... but 12 to 2? Stomped like narcs at a biker rally!

Hahaha.

Well, to be fair, we did that to the Red Sox, too. Which was nice. I was just hoping their streak would, you know, CONTINUE.

you gotta be kidding me, how many different ways are there to lose big games? i think over all the the years of coming close cleveland sports teams have invented them all.

yeah, i'll be watching tonight *gumbles, mutters*

Hahaha. Yeah. I will, too. Dang it. I'm really, really hoping they win tonight.

OK, to steer things in a more positive/irrelevent direction: how good did Laffey look last night?  Granted, the pressure isn't really there when you're brought in to mop up, but he looked sharp.

I wonder what the rotation is going to look like next year and, more interestingly, 2009.  If Sowers and Lee bounce back and Miller stays healthy and matures, we could have a glut of starters, even after Byrd and, gulp, Sabathia split.

go tribe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wtf  :wtf: :wtf:

come on tribe...you can do it!

Seriously. The head honcho at my work is a huge Boston fan. Make him cry.

wtf? I can't believe they held up Lofton at 3rd?!? That could've cost the Tribe the game...

I miss the days when I didn't pay any attention to sports.

If Casey Blake is the starting third baseman for the Indians next April, they shouldn't even bother playing out the season.

...there's always next year.  Yeah, Central Division Champs!

its the 8th --- so that means i'm one inning from changing my oscar gamble avatar. ugh.

oh dear. i am going to bed, 4 hours of my life I will never get back. no need to watch the 9th

TV just went off.  I'm sick enough already and there's no way I'm sticking around for any more of this.  To watch those slimy Boston fans celebrate the pennant means I don't go into work tomorrow.

That sucks.

I think it'd be awesome to see the freakin Rockies sweep Boston now. It's like what someone on ESPN said (can't remember who) ... the only team that can beat the New England Patriots right now, are the Rockies.

What'd they win 21 of their last 22 games? They won't be easy to beat.

Go Rockies!  F*** Boston!

Thanks tribe. It was one fun year.

Wanted:

1 Outfielder with power

Also Wanted:

1 Closer

Available Closers:

- Fransisco Cordero (Milwaukee)

- Kerry Wood (Chicago)

- Mariano Rivera (New York)

^Add a starting third baseman to the list.

^Don't forget at least one starting pitcher to replace Sabathia, whom I bet will not resign with the Tribe.

Thanks tribe. It was one fun year.

A hot summer day.  Spend the early evening outside.  Right around sundown go inside, turn on the tube, find the game, live vicariously through the men who wear red and navy.  Mellow out.  Wouldn't trade it for anything.

On the bright side I don't have to watch Ortiz spit in his glove for another year.

Congratulations Indians on a great year.

I mean, at the end of the day, I really doubt that the Tribe could've beaten the Rockies. So it's probably best that they at least were able to do some damage in this series.

Still, it's terribly disappointing. There were so many gaffes that, in any other game, probably wouldn't have been so bad, but I think ultimately had a huge impact on the final outcome for the Indians in this one. I had my hopes up all the way to the 8th. Then it was ridiculous. I wanted to throw something at the TV, but all I had was a pillow, and that wasn't going to do any serious damage.

I love the Indians. I just wish they would win the freaking World Series already.

*clears throat, warms up a bit for the already familiar line*: There's always next year.

I am so depressed, I was 2 hours late for work because I simply did not want to get out of bed :(

Sorry guys. Hopefully the Tigers will go easy on you next year.

Nah, probably not.

(Seriously: I feel for you guys. Stomp the Sox, Rockies).

This is the text of a message I sent to someone at my company's HQ...

the red sox are by far my most hated team.  They are exactly like the Yankees, ($100 million dollar pitcher) just as arrogant, yet they somehow cry and whine about the "evil empire"

go f yourselves douche bags

I hate Boston

Professional and Classy!

We still have him for another year.

At least the yankees have more than one championship in the last 90 years to talk about (which frustrates me to know end about the typical red sox fan's cockiness)

I'm catching hell today.  My deceitful staff put a bowl of Boston baked beans, topped of with one Red Sock in the entrance!

Hahahahaha .. that's pretty funny. And slightly awesome.

Will you think it's funny during "employee performance review" time?  I won't!

Hahahaha .. go get 'em!! :)

I'm sorry, I'm not with the "it was a great ride" crowd.  We had the team and the year that pointed to a World Series trophy.  And, we had Boston down 3-1; we had everything going our way and,... simply stopped playing the way that got us there.  Our great pitchers stopped pitching.  Our hitters stopped hitting --- I mean, we were THE opportunistic, aggressive team until Game 5, scoring more 2 our runs than anyone.  Then, simply put, we choked.  Unfortunately, we've been cursed by that type of player meltdown in this town for decades.

The young White Sox went and did it.  Ditto Arizona.  The Marlins, twice and once at our expense, of course.  Why is it SOOO hard for Cleveland teams?

Oh well, better luck next year.... oh yeah, we've heard that one before.

... I really feel sorry for Kenny.  This may have been his last realistic shot at the ring he so badly wants... and deserves.  And he consistently busted it more than practically every other Indian this post season.  And tragically, he got jobbed twice in successive critical ABs: once by the umps, once by his own 3rd base coach...

Kenny, thanks for memories.  We've certainly choked away our championship chances, but YOU were the farthest thing from being a choker.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Shut Up!   :-P

I'm not going to be an apologist, but we did better than expected. and there are some real pluses for the team going into next year.  It's not like this is strictly a Cleveland things.

....and now we turn out attention to the Browns and the Cavs.

Dear Indians, thanks for a summer of fun!

100% agree!

Yeah, Kenny Lofton is an amazing player. Definitely one of my favorites. Even when he got traded, I still loved the guy. He gives 110% in every thing he does, I think.

On a crosstown (NYC) bus this morning I overheard a mother coaching her third grader son how to tell his teacher [presumably a Cleveland native] how sorry he was that the Indians lost.  It definitely made me feel better hearing him rehearse, saying over and over again, with varying inflections, "I'm sooo sorry the Indians lost".

Awwww! LOL. :) He'd get a gold star in my book.

And then MTS got on and shouted the little boy down.

LOL, if only I took the bus!

Funny you say that, as I did have to betrate this ignorant lil bastard this morning.  He practically knocking me down, jumping on the train and out maneuvering an older woman for a seat.  I read him the riot act (in English and Spanish) from 125 St. to Columbus Circle!

He won't do that again.  :whip: so many people thanked me for saying something.

well I had it put into perspective today. Tired and sulking in a pile of paperwork this morning, I decided to go visit a couple of the people with developmental disabilities that I support in my job. I went to their activity program and two of the folks had Indians gear on...So I'm  gently ribbing (thinking I am the smart one mind you) "ah you know they lost right? ...it's over". They gave me this look that said no $hit, who cares if they won or lost, love em no matter what. Thank goodness I get to be taught a thing or two some days.
