April 19, 200916 yr Heading to the Bronx for the game in an hour.. GO TRIBE!! You leave the isle of Manhattan?? You must have rented a private car on the 4 train! LOL
April 19, 200916 yr Haha bitch pleaseeee.. I spent the entire day in Queens yesterday. Queens! Partying at Scandals are you?? :-o
April 19, 200916 yr Hahaha.. no, we had softball and a BBQ. Needless to say, my pasty Irish skin is red today.

April 20, 200916 yr Talk about the perfect game to be at...14 runs in the 2nd inning, people leaving in the 3rd inning...it was great. By the 5th with the stadium cleared out, it seemed there were a lot of Indians fans comprising of the remaining population so it was great to be in the concourse, etc, giving random people wearing Indians gear high fives. Stadium, I thought, was really nice - well planned out, easy to get around. I guess my only criticism is we were basically at the right field foul pole in the lower bowl just under the overhang. you couldn't see the center field scoreboard and the public address announcer was tough to hear...maybe the speakers in our section of the overhang didn't work. But other than that, good place to watch a game...but they better figure out how to contain the wind in the stadium or move the fences back...routine fly balls were getting out. Funny how the dimensions between the old park and the new one are exactly the same...I heard the wind blows in off the river directly into right/right center giving the ball an extra boost.
April 22, 200916 yr Bullpen is awful. A win is a win, no matter how its sliced...but changes need to be made soon or this team isnt going anywhere.
April 22, 200916 yr ^Thank god. And maybe Sipp will inject some life into that lousy pen. It's so painful to see the rotation finally getting it worked out just to see that pen melt down every single night.

May 11, 200916 yr Ouch! MLB Power Rankings: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/172523-mlb-power-rankings-week-five
May 11, 200916 yr How can this happen year after year? Always the bad start, then changes are made to get rid of salary, then a big finish to make you wonder, "What if?". That has got to be more than the players fault. It may be time for a change at the top.
May 11, 200916 yr Something needs to give. The bullpen might be the worst i've ever seen. The Manager and GM need to be fired as well as replacing the entire bullpen. Just get some kids from Lincoln-West. The Latin connection is strong their. They cannot be any worse than what is currently in our bullpen!
May 26, 200916 yr I think the indians deserve a shout out after last night's 10 run come-from-behind victory. Magnificent seven in ninth gives Cleveland Indians win over Tampa Bay Rays by Dennis Manoloff / Plain Dealer Reporter Monday May 25, 2009, 11:29 PM The Indians might never lose again to Tampa Bay in Cleveland. Victor Martinez hit a two-out, two-run single to cap a seven-run ninth inning as the Tribe defeated the Rays, 11-10, Monday night in Progressive Field. May 26, 200916 yr amazing and not just the game. even espn got all hyped on that....although it was neck and neck on sportscenter with syracuse winning the college lax championship
May 28, 200916 yr Sorry I just had to post this... It looked almost one headline to me. Now i have to read to see how Mr. Dolan is doing.
May 28, 200916 yr If you give me a second to attach the picture. Quickdraw McGraw.... Cute picture. Looks like somebody from my hometown. I might actually know him :) And just to stay on topic and avoid the wrath of the admins. Let's Go Tribe!
May 28, 200916 yr And 17 in a row at home vs. Tampa Bay. Anyone know why there were bomb squad vehicles outside Progressive Field at the end of today's game? Were they expecting to catch bombs hit against our relief pitchers?? yuk yuk yuk (Seriously though, my sister saw four bomb squad vehicles). May 28, 200916 yr Ahhhhh the memories that picture brings back You have one upstanding family! Classy, classy, classy!
May 29, 200916 yr bring on the Yankees? Seriously though, if the Indians can stay within 5 games back at the All-star break, I'd say they'd still have a chance at the AL Central with it not very strong this year.
May 30, 200916 yr Interesting item that I saw linked on a blog on cnnsi.com No room at the inn for the Yankees The Yankees usually stay in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Cleveland, an elegant establishment befitting their lofty status as America’s most beloved and revered sports franchise. But the Yankees, who have a large traveling party, were unceremoniously booted out this weekend. A Saudi Arabian princess is in Cleveland to have surgery at the famed Cleveland Clinic and booked up the entire hotel to accommodate her retinue of handlers. She wanted 90 — that’s right, 90 — rooms. The Ritz was able to find space for the Orlando Magic, who are here for the NBA playoffs. But there was no room for the Yankees. So as Dwight Howard and the oil billionaires chill in the Ritz, the Yankees are elsewhere, mostly park benches, bus stations and youth hostels. May 30, 200916 yr What a life lesson for all of us. No matter how rich you are, there's always somebody who can book 90 hotel rooms at once....
June 5, 200916 yr Dick Jacobs passed away. He brought great memories and helped make Gateway what it was. I, for one, appreciate what he has brought this city...

June 5, 200916 yr Bye Fausto. Hope you like riding buses. ________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 5, 2009 INDIANS ACTIVE DH TRAVIS HAFNER FROM THE 15-DAY DISABLED LIST RHP Fausto Carmona Optioned to Minors CLEVELAND, OH --- The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has activated DH TRAVIS HAFNER from the 15-day disabled list. To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians have optioned RHP FAUSTO CARMONA to the Arizona Rookie League in Goodyear, Arizona. Hafner has been on the disabled list since April 29 due to soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder (Oct. 14, 2008). So far this season with Cleveland he is hitting .270 (17-63) with 5 2B, 4HR & 8RBI in 17 games (10RS, .370OB%, .540SLG%, .910OPS) after opening the season on the big league roster. He began a 20-day rehab assignment in AAA Columbus on May 15 and hit .333 (13-39) w/4 2B, 1HR & 8 RBI in 12 games for the Clippers (.971OPS). Carmona has gone 2-6 w/a 7.42 ERA in 12 starts (60.2IP, 69H, 50ER, 9HR, 41BB, 36K, .283AVG) with Cleveland so far in 2009. Over his last 3 starts his ERA is 19.64 (7.1IP, 16H, 16ER). He will report to Indians Player Development Complex in Goodyear, AZ in the coming days. June 6, 200916 yr you know what a shame about both of those guys & their injuries. they have such promise when they are healthy. of course hafner came back and smaked a tater yesterday so maybe he's gonna be ok.
June 12, 200916 yr Make sure to check out Sportscenter today. And thanks to the birds...outta last place! For the birds: Gull struck by winning hit Choo's single deflected to push Indians past Royals By Dick Kaegel and Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com CLEVELAND -- What happens when a baseball strikes a seagull on the field? The ball is in play and, as it happened on Thursday night, the Cleveland Indians score the winning run to post a 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals. This one for the book came in the 10th inning at Progressive Field with the Indians trying to break a tie with the Royals. Mark DeRosa singled and Victor Martinez walked against reliever Kyle Farnsworth. Shin-Soo Choo singled sharply up the middle straight toward a flock of seagulls who were lounging in center field. The gulls, apparently in pursuit of bugs, had been swarming over the field during the entire series. Choo's line drive kicked in the outfield grass, struck a bird, then skipped away and rolled all the way to the wall, as DeRosa scored the winning run from second base. Center fielder Coco Crisp raised his arms in frustration, but there was no arguing the play. Umpire crew chief Mike Reilly confirmed that any ball striking one of the birds in fair territory is in play. June 12, 200916 yr Dude, that's awesome. And I am super excited to be going to the Tribe/Cards game tomorrow. I've been waiting six years for the Cards to come back to C-Town!!!!!
June 12, 200916 yr I was at the game last night, and let me tell you, those seagulls are hilarious. They seem to start up by the toothbrush light structures, then when they get some confidence they start moving lower into the stadium, swooping at people in the upper, then lower decks, and finally landing in the outfield when there are lulls in play. When a ball comes their way they obviously fly away, but they're back in no more than 10 minutes. Then fans start throwing tortilla chips or hot dog buns around and these things go crazy. The crowd loves it, especially with the fact that we're watching a lsat place team in crappy weather. I'd say there were about 300 gulls there last night, and none more on the field than that last at bat. It's like a circus down there. A real home field advantage. I can almost hear Oil Can Boyd saying, "That's what you get for building a stadium by the ocean."
June 12, 200916 yr Also, when the stadium lights went off, they moved on to higher altitudes swooping around the top of Key Tower (1000 feet plus).
June 12, 200916 yr The only thing is that the article is wrong. They aren't there for the bugs. I'm guessing they are there for garbage left by the fans. And now that people are feeding them, they will be there for every game, for sure!
June 13, 200916 yr HA! That was great! ESPN has been all over the flock of birds in this series. Most comments are of the "first bugs, then birds, what next locusts?" variety. But it was worth it for last night's win. That bird deflection play has been replayed by the sports channels and the news channels. It's even made it to entertainment programs too...
June 13, 200916 yr DocBroc, I was also at tonight's game against the Cards. It was a great game (7-3 win), great music (it was 80s night) and great fireworks (Indians have post-game fireworks after every Friday home game). I was at Jacobs Field in the late-90s when Mark McGuire was going for the home-run record. That night he hit (and dented) the Budweiser sign at the base of the scoreboard above the bleachers. Its the same location of the current Budweiser sign. That was a hell of a shot, but has since been tainted by the allegations of McGuire's juicing. Actually, I'm going this afternoon, and I'm looking forward to seeing the Cardinals powder blue 80's uniforms again (or at least if they're wearing 80's uniforms like they say, those should be the ones they're wearing)..... But yes, the McGuire thing was great while it lasted. I was only in like 8th grade at the time, but I went to a few games with the straight-A tickets the Cards give out. I think I saw homerun #40 if I remember correctly..... Man that was a long time ago. At any rate, I'm wearing my Cardinals shirt and my Indians hat today, but I think I feel obligated to cheer for the Indians..... So, uh, go Tribe! But at least it won't be that depressing (to me) this time around if the other team wins!
