^ I like Buster too.  He picked the indians to win it all in 2008 and 2009.  He is likes the league and doesnt hold that east coast BS bias.

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Bit of a wild one tonight, but Carrasco looked solid, the bullpen was good, even with a jam or two, and Grady and LaPorta looked damn good.

And with Colorado's loss, we are now (tied) the BEST TEAM IN THE MLB!!!!!!!!

Kind of early to jump on the bandwagon, but I am having trouble resisting

I have to say, Ive watched more games this season so far, then I did all last season...

Looks like someone might be addicted to winning.

Yikes those last few innings were ugly baseball, but no complaint with the result.  Tribe leading the central by 2 now.  Awesome.

OK, I've decided I'm buying tickets for a few games next week to support these young guys.  The next home stand looks like:

Apr 26-28 vs Kansas City Royals

Apr 30-May 1 vs Detroit Tigers

Now I just need to pick 2-3 games...

Kudos to you and 8titles and all the other folks buying tix.  I am dying to get back to town and see some games.

The 30th might be a good one, first fireworks game of the year.

Sat May 21st vs the Reds.  Choo replica jersey day. I'm there.

28th may be a light crowd due to the NFL draft.  I also am going to try and get to 2 games next week.

Indians Fever!

Argh.  That would have been an awfully nice little comeback win.  Weird watching the Royals in that last inning trying to decide whether to break our hearts with miracle catches or hand the game to us on a sliver platter.

whats up with santana??? dude is afraid to swing the bat

The play at the plate was the big difference maker. When this team makes a comeback like that, it needs to play smarter. I put that one on Acta unless Santana ran through a stop sign at third.

I thought it was the "speedster" Marson who got nailed at the plate.

Yes, and I don't have a problem with sending him.  He's in there to run, and we were down 5-2 late in the game at that point.  With 2 outs, it's worth a gamble IMO.

^That out was on Marson.  The catcher was on the far back end of the batter's box.  A head first slide on the inside part of the baseline with a hand swipe of home plate is safe.  Marson had a terrible slide right into the catcher and was nowhere near home.  Its OK though because Marson is playing well.  I put some blame on Santana for not swining at three straight fast balls over the plate with the bases loaded.

Thanks for correction re: Marson.

LaPorta scoring on that balk....I can't remember the last time I saw something like that on a key play.

This whole series - weird, but fun

^It was the second balk that inning!

Not crazy about the bases loaded opportunities we've blown the last few games.

^Yeah, but I like all the winnin'!  Hopefully Sipp isn't going into one of his automatic implode phases like he did last year for a stretch.  Though getting squeezed at the plate like that sure didn't help.  Even the Royals TV guys were joking about it a bit.

Joe West's strike zone was not consistent. That's enough to drive any pitcher nuts.

^ Yeah, my favorite quote came from @WFNYJon last night.

"Joe West is trying desperately to make a call that will instigate an ejection. No takers thus far, but he gets an A for effort."

God

Nice job, bullpen. Nice job....  :whip:

Dear Josh,

We're sorry we wasted your fantastic start by being terrible at baseball tonight.

Best regards,

your bullpen

The Indians let this one slip away against the Royals. I'm glad to see the Indians are starting out fairly strong however. I'm hoping, and I think they will (with the way they're pitching), be over .500 this year.

I used to really like the Indians when I was a kid, back when they had Manny Ramirez and Kenny Lofton. Manny was my favorite player back then, and I used to model my "Little League" game after him.

Indians 9- Royals 4 The home streak stands.

The Tribe is for real and is going to be a good team this year. Yeah, we all collectivelly held our breath during that 3 game skid, as Cleveland fans we are conditioned to wait for the bottom to fall out on anything good.

I was there! Me and the other 2 fans had a great time.

Seriously, I thought Cleveland was a great baseball town. I know the weather was supposed to be awful, but how long are we going to use that excuse?

^We use that excuse until May 1, then we switch to "kids are still in school."

and then its "dolan's cheap".

Cleveland is a fair weather baseball town.  Always has been and probably always will be.  If the success is sustained, then I think you are sure to see sellouts this summer.  If not, then more of these dismal crowds will show up.  You also have to consider that the town still has not gotten over the trading of two Cy Young winners in two straight years.  I don't think that the fans blame the Indians for that as much as MLB and its current system, but the Indians are going to feel the wrath.

I was there last night... Beautiful weather, great baseball!  Just the fans were missing...

^ Cleveland is and always will be like this:

-Browns will sell out no matter what.

-Indians/Cavs are a roller coaster...when winning both will sell, when losing, not good.  However, i dont consider Clevelanders fair weather fans.  I would like to see the TV/radio ratings for the indians.  Just because folks dont spend $$ to go to the games, doesnt mean they arent fans.  I guarantee the whole town knows what is going on with this team.

Give it until June and seats will fill if they are still winning.  I love the tribe, but weeknights are still hard for me...i will be at many games though.

Attendance will get better in May, a lot of the season ticket holder pools weren't even required by the Indians to buy the April games this year (at least ours, Opening day and that was it for April)

I believe the maxim is "winning this year sells tickets next year".  In other words there is a pretty long lag time between teams winning and fans showing up en masse.  I don't think that's limited to the Indians.

Just sucks that cities like Pittsburgh and Kansas City.. Well every city in the country for that matter ... are beating us in attendance.  Pittsburgh hasn't had a winning season in well over a decade.

That attendance stat sucks but it all fairness we have had exceptionally crappy weather in April. I bet the numbers pick up in the summer.

Seriously.  Less than 10k fans is pretty atrocious, full stop.  Not that I've done my part yet...

Those numbers will even out.  I can't think of a home stand that we've had yet where it hasn't been snow/rain/tornado for every game.

On top of it being 46 degrees for the majority of this month- this has to be one of the crappiest Aprils we have ever had.

Florida and Tampa Bay are only a few spots better than us and I'm sure their weather has been much better.  I can't really see the Indians moving up much than a few spots any time soon though.

Guys the last two games have been over 70 F at opening pitch...

And still less than 10k.  I went to the one on tuesday.  Did u know the Lake Erie Monsters minorleahue team had more people at their game??

And Cleveland's not the only city with crappy weather.  What about Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Philadelphia...

If weather permits...i bet we get up and around 20 K all weekend for the Tigers series.

Here's a blast from the past.... In 1985, the Indians lost more than 100 games with the kind of poor attendance you'd expect.

The next season, in April, the Indians went on a 10-game winning streak. In the middle of the streak, there was a weeknight home game where a flash crowd of 15,000+ showed up -- total crowd was 27,000. The last three wins of the streak came on the road against the Royals who were World Series champs the year before. So when the team came home for a Friday night game at the old Stadium, there were 48,000 fans in the stands! My sister and I went to that game, but we lost.

I remember the weather was nice for the 27,000-fan game because I recorded it (on Beta tape no less!). And the weather was decent for the 48,00-fan game -- I don't remember it being cold or rainy or anything. But the weather isn't relevant anyway since the weather was warm for the last two games.

Sorry, I don't have answer for the pathetic attendance. I have no excuse for myself either, as I have not gone. But I do have tickets for the May 20 game against Cincinnati!

It is a combination of our fair-weather fan nature and the lack of...fair weather. Seriously, I was at the Monsters game when the baseball game was going on. I had a good time. I am not ready to sit outside in...this. We're 10 degrees below normal, it sucks. And bad weather will carry over, because people aren't going to count on the weather suddenly being good the next day...because we've been fooled before! And not a lot of people will spontaneously go to games on weeknights if the weather DOES turn good...

Just be patient, and hope they keep winning, and there will be sellouts by June.

The last two nights were well above normal.  Yeah, most of April has sucked, but the average high is still only 59, and it was in the upper 70s the last two days with no rain.
