^Awesome shots.  I noticed we're out of the attendance cellar now- both Oakland and the Marlins dropped below us.  I expect we'll continue to climb and make it into the middle of the pack.

Hopefully we get the pitching duel we're promised on paper.  I'm just terrified that all those tough lefties in Boston's line up are going to tee off on Masterson.  Ellsbury, Oritiz, A. Gonzalez, Crawford, Drew, and even Lowrie.  Youk and Pedroia will be the only ones batting from the right side and they're pretty darn scary in their own right.

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

^This will sound cowardly but Im hoping for some rain outs this week!  I want to face Boston with limited injuries...hopefully the rescheduled games we will be healthy.  If we play, i still think we can take a game or two, but Boston has looked better.  Of course, every time i think the tribe will lose, they find ways to win games.

I'll be going Wednesday. Looking forward to it...

^Weekday day games are just the best.

I'm going to both tonights and Wednesday's game. Can't wait!!

^Could be, assuming he performs there.  The other wild card is Adam Miller, which would be an amazing story. He's been lights out in single A after his first outing and I'd guess the front office will be eager to push him up the system if continues to pitch well.

Remember how fast Manny Ramirez climbed up through the Indians' farm system? A friend saw him at AAA Charlotte and said it was obvious he wouldn't be there long. His bat was much quicker and stronger than every other hitter's.

Sounds like Hagadone and Miller are doing the same kind of things but from the mound.

^Nice Hammy impression!

This injury bug is getting out of hand.  Alex White out 8-12 weeks is not cool.  Thank goodness for our org depth.

Yep. Just as White goes on the DL, Mitch Talbot is coming off it.

Cabrera is now 7 for 7 in his last 7 at bats (3 homers too!!). I believe Tris Speaker holds the record at 11.

Now wouldn't that be something!

He better hit another home run soon or this game is going to get called as a 2-1 Boston win after 6 innings. It's raining hard in Lakewood and I see the guys are standing by the tarp getting ready to roll it out.

EDIT: and the radar does not look promising for them starting up the game again.

I can't believe they're still playing.  Will we come back from commercial here with this pitcher change to a rain delay?

BRANTLEY!

ASDRUBAL, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!?

Now we just gotta make sure we get this inning in!

OK, they can call the game now that's it 3-2 Tribe! :-D

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sir

Don't start applauding until the game is over.

wow

Well that couldn't have been any more exciting/nerve-wracking.  What a game!

15 games over .500!

Holy smokes! Do these guys put on a good show or what? Up 7.5 in the AL Central and playing .667 baseball with June just around the corner.  I bought in pretty early but I have been amazed at how they keep winning at this rate.

Great game! Cant stop watching them!

Just RIDICULOUS!!!  Ridiculous.

I know his save numbers are good, but Chris Perez is a meltdown waiting to happen every time he gets out there.

That was the most spectacular game I've ever been to!

Even thought I'm not "supposed" to say this since I live in Cincinnati, but I'm glad to see the Indians doing their thing; and they swept the Reds.  Go Tribe!

^ I am just speechless.  Acta has instilled a culture of winning and stubbornness in this group.  We essentially threw a glorified AAA team out there last night.. Travis Buck was our cleanup hitter and the culture of baseball kept us in the game.

I cant tell you how happy I am to see this...it will be a very long and fun summer of tribe baseball.

We've waited four years for this! I am savoring every moment of this teams progress!

Go tribe!!

No joke.  Even though I knew more or less who was starting, I was seriously despondent when the lineups were shown on the broadcast right before the first pitch.  Obviously heroics by AC last night, but it was Masterson and even Smith/Raffy that gave us any business even being in that game last night.  Just a huge start there for Masterson.  Our bullpen is much better rested than Boston's right now (and really, just much better), so let's hope Fausto and Talbot can keep us in the next two.

LETS GO TRIBE!!

man, i am still JAZZED from last night!!!!

What a game last night.  I was certain that they were going to call it when Boston had the lead late, but thank goodness they didn't.  Roll Tribe!

I wasn't even nervous when we were down cause I was positive we would have an end of the game comeback. This team has been crazy this year!

I was nervous that they would call the game because of the rain.

That was the one thing I was afraid of. That would have really sucked

It wan't the culture of baseball all around, rather the culture of pitching.  Masterson can't seem to get run support to save his life.  As far as hitting goes, for the most part minus Cabrerra and Brantley, we do have minor league offense.  But you can win every game 1-0, and win the world series.  That's all it takes.

Masterson can't seem to get run support to save his life.

He's also our #1 pitcher, so we schedule him against other teams' #1 pitchers as they do against ours. That's life.

Actually at this point in the season with the way the schedule fluctuates, #1s (even when clearly-defined) don't always end up facing each other.

To whoever said the Indians have minor league offense...

Go to yahoo.com/MLB and look at team stats. Other than triples and stolen bases, we usually rank in the top 3-6 in the majors!

^I think the minor league offense comment was in reference to last night's line-up specifically, which was without Grady, Pronk and (until late in the game) Santana.  And though it got the job done last night, a line-up with Buck in clean up, Choo still being lost, and Hannahan, Marson and Kearns at the end, won't scare a lot of opposing teams.

This whole season has really forced me to think about what it means for a team to be "good" and to differentiate using stats and team performance as a way to recognize past accomplishment v. predict future performance.  As a result, I've stopped being "offended" when the team has skeptics, because it's actually a much more compelling story line when they play above their perceived talent level, as the Tribe have been doing all season.  There's no glory in being the best, only for having played the best.  1995 Indians are proof enough of that.

I hope the spirit of Bob Feller doesn't get bored and fly away.  I swear, 6 of the past 7 wins have felt like something out of "Angels in the Outfield."

Hahahahaaahahah that movie

That's a great website! I especially like the article about Pedro Cerrano retiring. Wonder if he'll take up golf next?

Are you tryin' to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?!?

Tribe Time!

Can't win 'em all......

^ Nope.  There are only so many times you are beat THAT lineup with THIS lineup.  I predicted 1 of 3 before the series started and iwill stick with that.  I think Talbot gets roughed up a bit today.  It is OK though, 4-2 on a Reds/Roed Sox homestand is legit. Of course, i hope i am wrong.  The key for this team is to get back to winning after a 2 or 3 game spurt

With Sizemore and Hafner in the lineup, I will agree with you.  But with Travis Buck batting Cleanup, and Shelly Duncan pinch hitting in clutch situations, our offense is pretty weak.  Sure, everyone will give you a clutch hit occassionally, but we need the consistency back that we had with Sizemore and Hafner a couple weeks ago.  Really, Choo and Santana need to start hitting.  Choo at this time is having a rough time making contact.  You can tell he is having a rough time evaluating pitches.  He is sitting back on fastballs guessing off-speed and swinging off balance.  He'll come around though.  I think the latter part of this season will be marked by a resurgence of the two of them.  Similar to the 2006 and 2007 Victor Martinez resurgence.

On the bright side, the pitching is lights out.  Carmona pitched well last night, and should have only recorded 3 earned runs b/c Ortiz' hit was not nearly a hit, rather an error.

Lastly, Orlando Cabrerra continues to scarre me with his glove at second.  Nearly lost Saturdays game against the Reds when he botched a double play.  Then, last night, what the heck was he running to third for.  That was rediculous.  I still say we did not give Jamie Carroll enough time to evolve into a good 2nd baseman.

^ What's your obsession with Orlando at 2nd base?  Did you watch the 7th inning of Monday's game?  We don't win if he doesn't make those two plays at second.  How about his base running that allowed him to get to third after that shot to youkilis? The guy's the best 2nd basemen we have so quit ragging on him.

Not too mention he's a leader and a great guy to have in the clubhouse.  What you see on the field isn't everything.

I've seen all I need to see of Jamie Carroll.

I'm with gotribe, but I think Orlando is killing us with his bat too.  The guy barely gets on base.  He's Austin Kearns without the pop.  He had several clutch hits early on, but I think it's mistake to keep him in there still.  It's not clear at all he's the best second baseman we have- our top hitter at Columbus is a second basemen raking at an OPS over .900 and it will be shocking if he's not called up soon.  I don't expect O-Cab to be benched one day, but I do expect him to be slowly phased into the utility role as the season progresses.

EDIT: and his advance to third on that hit to Youk was not good baserunning, it was totally unnecessary risk taking for only marginal benefit in that situation.
