Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Right now, the Indians don't belong on the same field with other major league teams.

I'm going to Tuesdays Tigers-Indians game at Comerica Park.....Go Tigers :)

Right now, the Indians don't belong on the same field with other major league teams.

It is seriously boys against men out there these days.  Obviously teams look particularly bad when they lose, but looking at our line-up and then looking at what the Red Sox and Yankees put out there, it's amazing just how big the gap is.  I'm about as die-hard as they come, but the current Indians are verging on unwatchable.

Poor Indians...

Fantasy: Cleveland doesn't rock anymore

Since May 24, Cleveland is 4-13 and has the majors' worst team ERA at 5.68. Entering Sunday, the Indians were tied with the Cubs with 17 errors during this span, leading to 10 unearned runs. Only the Mets and Astros had more unearned runs allowed during this time.

I'm about as die-hard as they come, but the current Indians are verging on unwatchable.

Indians now 4/68 with RISP since the beginning of that disatrous homestand.  And 3 of those hits were in the last inning of a blow-out loss, off AAA mop-up guys.  That is astonishing.

Not that it matters to the end result, but why on earth was O-Cab in the starting line-up against a right handed pitcher?  As horrible as he is overall, he's one of the worst hitters in all of baseball, of any position, against RHP.  I really don't understand Acta sometimes.

Oh well.  At least Detroit lost, so we can look at the standings and pretend the Tribe's respectable for one more day.

pronk needs to man up an get in the lineup. recognize the that his team needs him and tell the doc my oblique muscle is fine

Throughout the course of a long season, there are bound to be ebbs and flows.  Any playoff team is bound to have periods where it seems like the wheels have fallen off and winning just one game is a chore.  I felt that way about the Tribe for a while, but after this weekend, I'm officially worried.  It's not just that they're losing, but how they're doing it.  The pitching has been okay, I don't know if anyone expected the staff to continue like they did for the first few months.  However the hitting has been atrocious, and that's a big problem.  The lineup was supposedly to be a strong point, and it hasn't been, especially not lately.  Choo and Santana have been MIA, and the second stint on the DL for Sizemore seems to have thrown him off.  If those guys aren't hitting, and Pronk is going to be questionable all year, then this team is done and will be lucky to end up in third place.  That said, if two or three of those guys get back on track, and I have optimism that they can, then this team can still compete in a weak AL Central.  I'm not ready to give up on this team yet!

Go Tribe!

I'm happy for today's win, but I'm not happy it took a shutout pitching performance to get it. The offense has to wake up!!! There aren't many 1-0 victories in this league.

Crazy.  The Indians' only two wins since June 2 are 1-0 shut-outs by CarCar.  He is pretty much the only thing keeping them from being in an 11 game losing streak right now.

Go Tigers!  I was at the game yesterday, Verlander came close to another no-hitter.

Sweet Jesus, cp's stuff has been filthy lately...

6303188e-7f6e-bd84.jpgI missed tonights game but he was filthy on Monday night too. 14 pitches, 2 k's to close out the game tonight.

Thats TCB baby, Takin' Care of Business.Which is much more preferable to the load the bases and still get the save C Perez. That's just nerve racking.

Nice guy too.

O-Cab, four hits in two nights.  Huge RBI double in last night's game. Go Tribe!

Argh, I was ready to believe again after the top of the first today.  Then it was back to the new normal.  Team is trending so poorly I increasingly think we have a good shot at fourth place in the division, and only because of KC's horrible starting pitching will put them in last by year's end. :(

CORD PHELPS!

YUH

Yea right!  Go Tribe!

Awesome way to finish off a sweep!

^And yeah, I may have overreacted a little to that Detroit series, but it's going to take more than a few wins off a mediocre NL team to erase the memories of that awful stretch. Though if Choo and Santana really are finally heating up, and CarCar really is putting it all together, then we've still got a great shot.

They should have won last night. That was the kind of game they were winning earlier this year. But at least the bats are back...

two outs and two strikes and 6 runs follow....Carmona SUCKS.  How about that out call on Cord at 2nd base.  Dude was safe by a mile!

Don't remind me...Oy!

I thought Sizmore had hit that out of the park in the 8th. A few more MPH on the pitch and it would have been...

Yay! Glad we won to keep ahead of De-twa.

Went to the game last night. Great time in one of America's best ballparks, as per usual. BUT...

17K on a beautiful night for a first place team? GO. TO. THE. F-ING. GAME, CLEVELAND!

That is all :)

Nobody cares to see the Rockies.  Interleague play against teams from out west is a waste of time.

But people care to see the hometown Tribe, yes?

^Weekday games can be tough sells when tickets for weekend games are plentiful.  Mid-week attendance will be the last metric to go up, but overall attendance seems to be up a bit this year after a horrible start with some games drawing less than 10K.  The Indians fast start likely saved their season attendance wise.

^17k on a nice summer night tells me that our season may not be saved attendance-wise, despite their surprising start.  In any case, certainly not a flattering showing for the local fan base, whatever their reasons for not buying tix.

Agreed. The Reds just had a Monday sellout and they're not playing better baseball. It's also not impossible to get weekend tickets for Reds games. (StubHub is cheap!).

A sellout only because of the Yankees.  Their attendance has been no better than the Indians.  Of course actual numbers might prove me wrong!

After taking a quick look, it seems they have worse than 17K nights and better: http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/schedule/_/name/cin/cincinnati-reds. I don't feel like taking the time to see who's doing better. But regardless, the first place Tribe should be bringing in more than 17K.

Reds' average attendance is almost 6k higher than the Tribe's = 25-30% higher.

Well there ya go. Now join me at the games!

^I would if I were in town :)

Not that they deserve it of late.  Another garbage loss tonight, despite more awesomeness from CarCar.  And Choo now out for 6 weeks with a broken thumb.  Swell.

I've been trying to stay optimistic about this team, especially with the way they started and how weak the AL Central is, but, and I hate to say this, I think they're in trouble now.  Choo wasn't hitting great, but even still he was better than his potential replacement, and further, I think he was really starting to come around.  I want them to keep trying to compete, the franchise and fans need it, but I don't want them to sell the farm and future to obtain so-so pieces that would only possibly help them stay in contention this year.

^I hear ya.  I'm hoping for the best, but this offense if atrocious, and serious help isn't on the way this year.

The offense or lack there-of lately is the root of the problems...creating eventual other collapses. Let's not expect so much and thus we will not take it so hard.  Do the fans deserve more, heck yeah....should we settle for mediocre, no...but this may be as good as it can get right now until more talent emerges, or some step up like they need to be doing.  "Mr. Strike out", Sizemore, is just one example.

Well that series sucked...how the hell do you manage to lose a game on a balk? Now I have seen it all.

Maybe they can get it back together after the All-Star break. Their Mojo certainly is broken right now..

They scored a grand total of 4 runs in San Francisco.  The Giants only put up 8.  The blame for that sweep lies solely on the shoulders of the hitters.

I hate National League baseball and interleague play!

The offense was horrible, but then, could Hafner play in any of the Frisco games? Yes, I realize the offense shouldn't depend on one guy, but it seems to. And Choo isn't going to be able to help us for a while.

I think we should bring up more young guys. The likes of LaPorta, O. Cabrera, Buck and Kearns aren't cutting it. Neither is Santana who doesn't seem to have his head right for batting or fielding right now. Maybe he needs more time in the minors?

I'd also like to see us bring up a stud pitcher soon, like McAllister.

Things are so bad, that I'm seriously hoping they call up Luis Valbuena to add some punch to their line-up.  Even Jason Donald will add punch to this line-up when he gets reactivated.  Chilling.

^One bad thing about yesterday is that it prolonged Fausto's spot in the rotation.  His line was fine yesterday, but it was against arguably the worst offense in baseball (no disrespect to our Tribe!) so shouldn't really give that much comfort.

They scored a grand total of 4 runs in San Francisco.

Committing more errors than you score runs is not a great recipe for winning.

Yeah, somewhere I heard that Fausto was pitching for his job yesterday.  Well, great news!  With his barely "quality" start, he'll stick around for at least another one...

We lost Choo at the wrong time.  I can't watch another game with Buck or Kearns in the lineup.  I might as well go out there.  For the year Kearns only has two more RBI's on me.  Santana's struggles are hurting the team more than anyone right now.

I can't watch another game with Buck or Kearns in the lineup.

Not to mention Duncan, Everett and O-Cab (not withstanding the occasional blown foul call that credits O-Cab with a double).  These are quite possibly some of the worst line-ups this team has put out there in years.  Not all the org's fault because of injuries and regressions, but doesn't make it easier to watch.  And yet I do keep watching for some horrible mysterious reason.

Because people enjoy watching these......

Everett has been cut and Chisenhall has been called up.

You know what that's called? A good start!

Yes!

Yow!  I actually didn't expect that.  Chiz has been on fire since coming off the DL in Columbus, but overall he's not been lightening it up down there.  Oh, well, I'll take it!  As others have said, I much rather watch Cord and Chiz and other kids getting comfortable then Everett and O-Cab do their predictable thing at the plate.  Let's go Tribe!

He'll be batting 7th and playing 3B tonight.  I like the move, even though Lonnie's had a bit of a down year thus far in Capital City.  Oh well, let's see what the kid can do.

Next up should be Carrera (for Kearns) and soon to follow should be Head and/or Kipnis.  Basically this team needs to give some of their young OFs a chance, too!
