Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Pretty apparent the Tigers are in the Indians heads. And Miguel Cabrera is just a freakin' machine. Sometimes you can just tell when you're watching a hall-of-famer. They do what they want when they want to do it.

Today, Baltimore and ChiSox will play a game closed off to the fans due to the riots. The real question is, who will draw more fans today, Camden Yards or Progressive Field??

Man, it's real hard for me to not throw in the towel on this team right now. I consider myself an above average Indians fan (substantially above average probably) and I've watched/listened to less than 20% of their games this year so far. I went to the first two home games and haven't been back since. If I'm not invested in this team, I'm not at all surprised that no one else is.

Ditto.  One thing is ppl r focused on cavs, do tribe may have another month to get it together.

I did watch some of the game tonight to see what Nick Swisher and his bro's would do in his first game back. Not much, unfortunately. Another loss.

Nick Swisher was 0-4 with 2 Ks.  Seems he got back to mid season form quickly!

What was the attendance like? Looking over from The 9 it looks pretty empty.

I guess the Dolan's experiment with the renovations has failed. People want to see superstars win. We don't have much of that on this team unfortunately.

I do think it's too soon to jump to that conclusion. But you're right in that renovating a ballpark alone without having a good product will not draw in fans. For what it's worth, average per game attendance so far this year is 15,822, which is 1,646 higher than it was at this point in 2014.

Kluber pitched another gem last night...and the Indians made sure to not lose it until after he departed. :(

So as we're all been distracted by Cavs playoff successes and downtown protests... The Indians have quietly won 6  straight, swept the Reds in the battle of Ohio, and pulled themselves out of last place.

They're finally playing up to their talent level. This team is very good.

Today's 12-inning 6-3 win vs Seattle was the first Indians game I'd watched in its entirety since opening day. The raw weather today had something to do with that -- as did the team's improving performance. They're 8-3 in their last 11 games.

So it's more of a hayride right now than a train load? Got it.

Speaking of hayrides and farms, when oh when are we going to send Ramirez down to the farm and bring Lindor up from it? I can't believe Francona has stuck with him this long.

Cleveland Indians option Jose Ramirez, Lonnie Chisenhall to Triple-A, call up Zach Walters, Giovanny Urshela

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Say hello to the Indians' new left side of the infield.

The club has optioned shortstop Jose Ramirez and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall to Triple-A Columbus. Zach Walters and Giovanny Urshela will join the team in time for Tuesday's series opener against Seattle at Progressive Field.

Ramirez is batting .180 with a .247 on-base percentage and a .240 slugging percentage in 150 at-bats with the Indians this season. Mike Aviles has garnered the majority of the playing time at shortstop over the last week. That trend figures to continue for the foreseeable future.

Francisco Lindor promoted by Indians; Nick Swisher placed on DL

11h - MLB FRANCISCO LINDOR

The Cleveland Indians added top shortstop prospect Francisco Lindor to the roster and placed designated hitter Nick Swisher on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.

Lindor's contract was purchased from Triple-A Columbus, where he hit .281 with 22 RBIs in 58 games.

Lindor was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2011 first-year draft. He was not in the starting lineup for Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Tigers but struck out as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.

Lindor said he received the news he was getting the call to the majors via a text message Saturday from manager Terry Francona that read: "Come on, Frankie. Get up here. Congrats," according to MLB.com.

I don't get why the Indians keep pitching to Miguel Cabrera. He accounted for all 4 RBI Friday night. And a couple more Sunday.

I also saw a stat that Cabrera is batting about .280 against all teams not named the Indians and more than .600 against our beloved Tribe.

The Tigers and M-Cab were struggling and barely above .500 before the Tribe paid a visit last weekend and, well, talk about a Magic Tonic for the Motor City Kitties...

Lot of firsts in last night's Indians game....

Game of firsts

Bauer started and won his first game at Wrigley Field. He also singled in the fifth inning for his first hit in the big leagues. He was hitless in his first eight at-bats.

Lindor recorded his first RBI, stolen base, run and mulit-hit game in the big leagues. He singled home Kipnis in the fifth and followed with a steal of second base. Lindor went 2-for-5 in the game.

Brantley was thrown out attempting to steal third in the seventh inning. It was his first caught stealing since July 19. It ended a streak of 19 straight steals.

I really don't believe in "curses," but man, I'm really beginning to wonder...

What does a 17-0 loss in the middle of the regular season against an irrelevant foe have to do with a curse? What negative pattern is being reinforced here? Now if this was game 7 of the World Series, then I might agree with you.

BTW, if the Cubs and the Indians ever faced each other in the World Series with ending their respective curses on the line, the Earth would collapse in upon itself with such force that not even light would escape it. :)

It was also a 17-0 loss because we had Rayburn and Murphy pitch the 9th, giving up 7 runs, although none of them were earned due to Lindor's error with 2 outs.

Baseball is just strange.  And I don't pretend to be much of a fan or much of an expert (even by hobbyist sports fan standards, let alone pro standards).  But how the heck do you beat a team 6-0 one day and then lose to them 0-17 the very next day?

Different starting pitching.

^ And also, especially in that case, different relief pitchers

^ And also, especially in that case, different relief pitchers

Starting pitching often determines how much relief pitching is needed, and if a game gets too out of control you need to look ahead to having sufficient guys available for the next game.  So maybe you leave in the last guy on the depth chart even though he is getting shelled.

There's also an insane amount of randomness in baseball, which is a big reason why they play so many games.

So since the last post here Cody Anderson may have done some noteworthy things..... 8-)

He's been impressive. In fact this rotation overall has been fun to watch this year.

And the good starting pitching continued tonight.

And the bats have woken up.

Tell that to the Cardinals, Pirates, Orioles, Padres, Brewers, Reds, and Royals...all of whom play in cities with smaller media markets than Cleveland yet have larger salaries.

It wasn't throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s. Tribe was among the top-10, if not top-5 in payroll.

So close to a no-hitter by Carrasco! Great performance though!

My cousin from St. Louis texted me about the no-hitter in the 7th. I haven't had cable since 1999. So naturally I ran to the nearest "sports" bar. They didn't have the Tribe game on. So we had the bartender turn the channel. During the 8th inning several of the patrons who started watching the game left.....WTF CLEVELAND?????

The Indians always do this. Whenever I 'officially' throw in the towel on their season, they go on a winning streak.

Do you just mean he's about to commit to more future salary obligations than the Dolans have?  That's different than actually spending money. The Dolans are spending more on team payroll this season than almost every NBA owner did in the 2014-2015 season, including Gilbert.

Presumably counting only the major league roster?  They also pay minor league players.
