A lot of folks in Boston are giving the Tribe the credit they deserve. There's a lot of good, knowledgeable Sox fans in the world. I only wish the major media outlets could be something better than awful. Screw them, and to heck with all-star catcher (and current golfer) Lucroy too.

Also, has anyone else realized that this entire reg season espn.com ONLY had the Tribe score on the front page when we played NYY or BOS?

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Meh...Sox fans are overrated. I don't know how old you are but they were a great base prior to winning a title. Then Boston teams became trendy. Many Sox fans I meet have only a cursory knowledge of baseball. I have nothing against Boston, though. Celtics fans may be 1000 times more obnoxious than Sox fans but every one I have met knows basketball inside and out. Total respect there.

I have been perusing yahoo.com/mlb all day and the Indians were not discussed. Not once. This is getting ridiculous.

No exaggeration - go right now (3:24PM CST) and you won't see s-hit about the Indians. The headlines are currently:

Dodgers announce Clayton Kershaw will start must-win Game 4

3h

Tebow making his Arizona Fall League debut on Tuesday

4h

Justin Verlander apologizes for ‘All Lives Matter’ tweet

12h

Giants stay alive with thrilling walk-off win over Cubs

13h

David Ortiz's fantastic career deserved a better ending

TEBOW is a headline but the Indians sweep isn't? Unreal. I'm surprised Manziel isn't discussed either.

And if you look at the left of the screen and scroll down, there are about 20 articles and hyperlinks (a combo of articles and advertising), and guess who isn't mentioned once.

C'mon, I'm seeing:

"David Ortiz deserved better than losing to the Cleveland Indians" http://sports.yahoo.com/news/david-ortizs-fantastic-career-deserved-a-better-ending-043005573.html

"Pedro Martinez used to “hunt Indians” and then paid tribute to them by doing a stereotypical battle cry" http://sports.yahoo.com/news/things-got-super-racially-insensitive-040312028.html

We were mentioned in both articles.

Okay if we're on the "no Tribe news" bandwagon then Jim Rome just mentioned today that there was not one single person who called in today to discuss the Indians.

I don't care! None of that matters to me.

Go Tribe!!!

The Red Sox have always enjoyed 2 fans.  The "real" Red Sox fans who suffered through the years of misery, and the douche-bag frat-boy Red Sox fan who spent a summer in the mail room at John Hancock during his undergrad at Eastern Michigan and needed a summer baseball hat to compliment his South Carolina GameCOCKS hat while hitting the bars for some Golden Tee ball crushing.

This equation has multiplied substantially since the Red Sox successes of this century.  And now you know why Donald Trump is a star....

lol leon bibb for the smakdown. but seriously what really rankles me about the burning river meme is that the cuyahoga was hardly the only river in such bad shape back in those careless industrial era days. hell, something caught on fire in the hudson around nyc/nj every single day until well into 1980s. and there are plenty of other examples. the loss of heavy industry and manufacturing in america wasnt totally a bad thing. but i guess somebody had to be the poster boy for all that...oh well, that was a long time ago.

Omg the reaction to this stupid meme is kind of ridiculous, and makes Cleveland look insecure, imo. TBS and TNT's sports coverage is known to be a little goofy and personality driven. When teams lose in the NBA playoffs, the TNT guys create a "gone fishin'" meme depicting the team and people from the city that lost on a boat. Barkley has complained/joked about having to go to OKC to cover a playoff series. He called the women on San Antonio fat. They just poke fun and are a bit irreverent, which I think is good. It's just a game after all. You guys know the riverfront is booming these days (look at MayDay's last thread for proof) and as the newscaster said in his piece, the city has landed big conventions, won a championship, and your baseball team is in the ALCS. Stop taking little jokes as big threats and affronts to the city. Focus on the good rather than latching on to one stupid meme as proof of national disrespect.

Sigh.  There's always a reaction on one level or another when a city gets slighted on TV.  The Detroit and Jacksonville Super Bowls.  The San Antonio fat women comment.  The list is endless and there always is some local reaction to it.  It's a bit amplified on this site because that's what we discuss.  It doesn't "make Cleveland look insecure".  I live here and haven't heard a peep about it except on here.  Yes, I know some newscasters raised it, but it really isn't being discussed all that much at all.  I'm sure local newscasters discuss slights in any city.  The ones I mentioned above got national headlines.

I don't know why every time we discuss a Cleveland slight on here, that is the robotic reaction of one of the posters from another C.  Do they teach you that in elementary school or something?

No, it just seems that Cleveland is obsessed with how it's perceived by national audiences. There's a whole thread here where people repost positive comments they hear people making about the city. During the convention it was a constant stream of "do they like us? They like us!! Omg outsiders see Cleveland positively!!" After being on this site for years, I've noticed a definite trend with over sensitivity to criticism and a real thirst for compliments about your city. Cleveland's a great city. You know it, I know it- who cares about some stupid meme or an offhanded remark from a sports journalist.

"Stop freaking out!!" - Person freaking out about their belief that other people are freaking out

^ Agree.  the city needs to collectively act like its above criticism.  They will keep poking until we stop caring.

It's a forum to talk baseball. The post game coverage was bad. I don't think it's out of bounds to talk about it or anyone is "freaking out". It was an exceptionally weird broadcast considering the positive vibes Cleveland gets from TNT.

There were four or five in Cleveland and the 1969 one was the mildest, it was a slow news period and Time wanted an environmental story.

The Giants' bullpen collapse last night should help locals realize that horrible, heartbreaking collapses happen in other cities as well...We can be thankful that the Indians are the anti-Giants on this score: we have a fantastic bullpen and a manager who knows how to use it.

Bruce Bochy would have been smarter to have left Matt Moore in for the 9th given his having effectively held the Cubs in check and given SF's extremely shaky pen that was poised to have an epic meltdown.

^ yes and as i said there were many river fires due to industrial pollution all across america and elsewhere. probably still are in places like china where there are no rules and its like mad men era business was in 1960s america, but no ones notices. they just pull up the 1969 fire in cle.

Shall we get back to baseball, folks?

(the answer is yes)

Friday cannot come soon enough!!!

Sucks that Saturday's game is during the day. Playoffs should happen in the evening.

^ i know, i am going to watch, but this dodger-nats game tonight aint cuttin it!

Tribe keeps rolling

It's a shame the Dolans are too cheap to field a good team.

Cody Allen is a whole lot easier to watch when he has a two-run lead.

Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

If we win the WS with our makeshift rotation, it'll be historic... That we've gotten this far, in sweeping Boston and shutting down their powerful bats with the Tribe pitching staff is miraculous.

Lets earn a spot in the World Series, first!

Miller just isn't fair at this point

These guys are just unbelievable. Credit Tomlin for an excellent outing, but Miller is my playoffs MVP to this point.  He has ice water in his veins. Our trade for him at the deadline is the greatest I've ever seen the Indians make.

Miller is insane.

Innings Pitched: 7.2

ERA: 0.00 and in the immortal words of Dean Wormer, he has no earned run average

Strikeoutouts: 17

Hits: 2

boo ya!

I don't want to go as far to say that tonight is a must-win game. But a Jays win tonight combined with Clevenger possibly starting tomorrow...well, I don't like our chances in any game with Clevenger starting.

If we win tonight, it's not as big of a deal either way.

If we lose tonight, I'd much rather see Kluber start us off tomorrow.

Didn't Tito say he would start Kluber in game 4 if Bauer didn't last long in game 3.

ONE. MORE. GAME.

The circumstances have changed, Mr. Bautista...

In nine postseason innings, Andrew Miller has given up no runs, 4 hits, and 2 walks.  He's struck out 20.

No starter has ever struck out more than 20 in a nine inning game.

The circumstances have changed, Mr. Bautista...

"Circumstance":  The new nickname for Andrew Miller's slider.

If the Indians can win the World Series the idea of the Browns going winless I could care less about. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

You mean 3 out of 4.

Remember the Monsters!!!!

This is pretty exciting! I wish their games weren't on TBS, though.  I don't have cable, and TBS's Apple TV app doesn't let Time Warner customers (using friends' account) log in to watch games that way.  I can see the NLCS via the Fox Sports Go app, but no ALCS. Very annoying.  These games should be on network TV to begin with, imo.

^The Watch TBS app works fine with Time Warner accounts.

Very Stable Genius

Agreed.  Need to wrap it up, get the team back to Cleveland and rest up for WS.  Is it premature to predict who everyone would rather face from the NLCS?

I'd rather face the Cubs.  First, I want to avoid Kershaw.  Second, if we lose, at least another long-suffering fan base will have exorcised its demons.  Third, if we win, another long-suffering fan base will keep on suffering.

^The Watch TBS app works fine with Time Warner accounts.

It didn't list Time Warner as a provider when I tried a couple nights ago. Cincinnati Bell was listed, but no Time Warner.  I remember having a similar problem last summer with TNT for the NBA playoffs. Maybe it's a regional thing?

It just seems like destiny at this point.
