Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

Good, let’s see how we stack up against big boy baseball teams. I’m looking forward to this stretch, hopefully with a new right-handed bat somewhere in the lineup?

Okay I think I am okay with this trade as much as I like Bauer.   Puig may be inconsistent but he will sneak up on you (he's been on my dynasty team for a few years) and Reyes sends more stuff into orbit than SpaceX.

Good trade.

I like this trade alot, our outfield just got a heck of alot better.

Has there ever been a more perfect way to introduce oneself to Cleveland sports fans?

No doubt we added some thunder to the lineup; I like it. Wondering if Antonetti will try to flip Puig to another team today? Him and Reyes are both primarily right fielders, though I’m sure they’ll get dh time if both stay. I love Reyes, and the lefty reliever is a real prospect too, impressive they turned Bauer into 5 guys, nice mix of present & future....plus Bauer goes to the NL (no potential AL playoff matchup against him).

Nice job front office??

Salazar supposed to start Thursday against Houston; first action since 2017 ALDS

yeah good trade - we did great with the bats, including minor leaguer nova who can hit. maybe we can make a dent in the astros now - ha. the pitchers are so so though. minor leaguer moss did good in dayton according to my season ticket holder father in law.

Reyes is a monster.

I wonder if the suspension he faces will impact things at all? Since this is his 2nd or 3rd fight this year, I imagine the suspension may be at least 5-7 games.

Also Pittsburgh has been doing this for years, the league needs to really come down hard on them. The entire NL Central has been calling them out for 2 years on this and nothing changes.

We don't need another distractive headcase; Puig can go punch a wall somewhere else.

I hope we don't see Reyes in the outfield. He's awful defensively. Keep him at DH, please.

Here's a breakdown of the epic Albert Belle interview that just happened on WKNR.

Belle: "Puig sucks."

Belle: "I like the guy, but I'd make Trevor Bauer run wind sprints from foul pole to foul pole during the game."

Belle: "We only look good because lately we've been playing against a bunch of cripples."

Belle: "You saw last night we can't hit a real pitcher."

Belle: "I see Franmil Reyes on the Padres, striking out all the damn time."

Belle: "Michael Brantley sure looks good with the Astros."

Holy cow, this guy's still not pulling punches hahaha

^ He's drunk.

The Michael Brantley line hurts a little. That was an enormous loss.

Right. Brantley was the consummate Indian. Not a superstar, but very very good and professional player.

Crowded OF now. I'm guessing Puig is a rental and next years OF would be Zimmer/Mercado/?????

What happens with Naquin?

Cc’s reflection about his time in Cleveland and his career.

He’s Tyler Naquin, enough said.  Above-average defence, hitting well over .400 this month, best in the majors, to raise his season AVG to .300.

Oh, and solid comeback game against Houston this evening. Two 3-run HRs as well as 2 Perez solo shots was more than enough to bury the Astros.

He was rumored to be on some heavy duty meds for his hip in Chicago.   May still be.

He and Robbie Alomar were classic examples of how fantastic Hargrove was at getting the most out of problematic players.   Manny to, to a point, but he ended up growing up some.

Perez's first home run was a 3 run shot as well.  We actually scored our 10 runs on three 3 run HRs and one solo homer.  That's the MLB of today I guess.

I stand corrected. Was def not expecting Bebo to be homering at double the rate Kipnis is (18//9) at this point in the season.

Belle gave credit to Hargrove. Said that any time the team lost their focus, he would have them practicing early the next day.

Ps don’t forget Eddie Murray, that guy was never in a good mood haha.

My first and only game to date at Wrigley Field I witnessed Reyes get put in an absolute blender by a lazy fly ball to the right field corner.  It was, by far, the most unathletic play I've seen from a professional athlete.  He belongs in the American League...

looks like belle has become the tribe’s maradona — i’m cool with that lol.

The Indians social media operator(s) are always on point.

Edit: just realized this isn’t from a sanctioned Indians account. But still... they sure slay on Instagram!

Just wow. And 1st in the Central is solely ours after coming back from 11.5 games behind the Twins in June!

Glad to see the offense SHOT OUT OF BED after the last couple games against the Sox!

We don’t have a closer. Brutal performance by Hand tonight (again). Tito has got to put loyalty to this guy second to the team. It’s not just one blown save - everybody has a bad game - this is 4 in a row (counting a Yankees game we won despite 2 in the ninth)  Hand must be given relief as closer before he “singlehandedly” kills the season. The question is - who can do it?

I haven't felt this uncomfortable about a Cleveland Indians closer since I learned about Jose Mesa's "fast ball" at the Lakewood Days Inn.

He has had a rough stretch but was awesome until the All Star Break.

The Joe Borowski and Wickman days were tough ones.

hey skipper — talk to the hand

i see naquin was hurt last night. on the bright side — miraculously, carrasco is back and will be in the bullpen for now. kluber is taking longer, but will likely be back:

https://es.pn/2Zp4l7v

the tribe probably has no chance of catching the twins unless they implode. wrapping up the season they still play each other a lot, but overall the twins have a softer schedule.

Man, the number of serious injuries this season....

Mercado makes an amazing, game saving catch to rescue the Indians tonight against the way under 500 White Sox - that’s great. The huge problem - since late June, Brad Hand’s ERA is over 7 - with 6 blown saves. Shaking my head.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Indians surrendered their division crown, at home, yesterday in the day/night double header against the Twins.  They were besieged with injuries this season and the bullpen was a fundamental problem. Their young starters kept them in the race - and you can make the argument that Terry Francona did one of his best managing jobs considering the personnel changes, top to bottom.  But the truth is that this Francona era, highly successful in terms of total season wins/losses has also produced a legacy  where legendary possibilities became crushing disappointments,  from  the 3-1 lead against the Cubs, to  the 2-0 lead on the Yankees in 2017, to the sweep by the Astros in 2018 to this year’s phoenix-like return from a 11 1/2 game deficit only to possibly miss the post season entirely. We’ll see about that over the remaining 13 games - redemption is still possible in the form of a wildcard but the odds are mounting against that.

^ Agree with all of that. Next season will probably be the most competitive AL Central for a while and I can see a genuine three way fight. We’ll still be there or thereabouts, so will the Twins and I also think the White Sox will be up there too. The Royals won’t be as bad as they were this year. The Tigers will.

My hovercraft is full of eels

i dont think we make the final wildcard either. a shame. despite the injuries and yo-yoing i was looking forward to that all season. its not over yet, but not looking good.

We will know this week for wildcard. Rays have 8 straight games against Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox.  I think they are going to lose some games here.  If tribe goes 5-1 or 4-2 on this homestand, we should have the final spot going into the last week of the season.  I actually would rather play the A's in a one game playoff with the yankees waiting then play the Astros in a short series.  We match up well against the Yankees.  A's are young and they wouldnt have any reasonable advantage in a one game playoff other than home field

If there was a Major League IV, it would undoubtedly take place in a hospital.

All of the injuries....kind of reminds me of.........

2016

carrasco, Bauer, Brantley, Gomes, Salazar all injures. We dominated all but about three games of the entire October

holy sh*t jose rameirez what a glorious return from the dl — lol!

welp the tribe is playing their hearts out and we have an exciting race for the wildcard on.
