Get ready for a long frustrating baseball season, I’m afraid,  Guardians fans - looks like we’ll have some excellent pitching but very very little hitting.

This was my last read post in this thread.  Figured I should check in.  I miss anything interesting? 🤓😇

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

The national TV shots of fans in the stands showed at least 50% still wearing Indians gear.   These things take time...

McKenzie has been a beast so far.

Depending on your point of view, that was either a brilliant, or terrible advertisement for baseball. Personally, I loved it, although it was starting to get a little exhausting in the bleachers.

What a team this is. Bring on the Yankees. We’re playing with house money this whole post-season, so the guys can stay loose.

Also, Guardians have still NEVER lost a playoff game.

But I want advantages, not washes!

Yankees are missing Chapman so it's a wash.

Definitely not a wash as Chapman was old and washed up. He probably wasn’t making the roster anyway which is why he didn’t show up to work out.

Potentially helpful hint for the Guards prior to facing N.Y.  Figure out how to score some runs.

We all know this series is a long shot, but one thing is for sure:

Thank god we're not facing Verlander. Yet. Guy has been an absolute beast.

Yeah going to be an uphill battle.   I had to look up the series this year--the Guards were 1-5 against the Yankees and outscored 38-14.  Yikes!~

And the Guardians only scored 2 runs in their lone victory over the Yankees.   Of course those game were played in the first half of the season when the Guardians were hovering around .500 and their DH Franmil Reyes was striking out nearly every at bat.

Dolan Family curse: Owners of Knicks, Rangers and Guardians closing in on dubious milestone

By Josh Kosman

October 12, 2022

The Dolan family sports curse is on the precipice of reaching a dubious milestone of failing to win a championship in 100 seasons of owning teams across four professional leagues.

Cleveland Guardians owner Larry Dolan, whose underdog squad is battling the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series, has gone 22 years without a title since buying the franchise with his son Paul in 2000.

It’s been even longer for Larry Dolan’s better-known nephew, James Dolan, who owns the Knicks and Rangers and used to own the Liberty of the WNBA. There have been 28 seasons of a disappointment for Knicks fans and 27 for the Rangers (factoring in the 2004-05 canceled season) since the blues-playing mogul bought the teams in 1995.

Add another 22 empty seasons for the Liberty, which were founded in 1997 and sold after the 2018 season, and you come up with a losing legacy of campaigns that will stretch to a century if the team formerly known as the Indians is bounced from the playoffs.

No other sports team-owning family has come close to this kind of futility, sports industry sources said.

Game 3 takeaways

It might seem impossible to win without going big on offense in the postseason, but don't tell that to the plucky Cleveland Guardians. The New York Yankees hit three homers, including a 449-foot moonshot by formerly struggling slugger Aaron Judge. But the Guardians just keep blooping pitches into the outfield and looping little liners to the opposite field -- and before you knew, it added up to some real offense. The Yankees tried to close it out with a combination of Wandy Peralta and Clarke Schmidt, but Cleveland kept blooping and looping until the bases were loaded for frequent postseason hero Oscar Gonzalez, who singled softly through the middle, scoring two runs as a sell-out crowd at Progressive Field set the grandstand shuddering. Turns out a slingshot offense actually can get it done in October, and when it does, it's awfully fun to watch. -- Bradford Doolittle

Real football:

(Fact:  weather affects both teams pretty much the same in soccer or football, in baseball it has much more impact on the defense.)

With the expanded playoffs, MLB should consider shortening the regular season.

I agree, although $$ means it’s never gonna happen. A ~150 game regular season with a week lopped off either end, helping avoid snow-outs etc makes too much sense.
