I'm happy for CC... even if it is the Yanks.  I'm happy that CC and his family are getting paid, but he's not allowed to be good.  At least not $160 million good.

CC is a great guy, great teammate, and he's a gamer.  Indians' fans know all to well though that CC didn't perform that well in the playoffs for us.  Check out his career post season stats, not exactly sparkling.  Maybe he might turn that around in NY, but if he doesn't...uh-oh!

If Wood can stay healthy that is a great signing.  They will have overpaid him significantly, but if he can get the job done whatever.  I also like the bullpen guy the got for Gut.  Last year they lost many games in the last three innings, with Smith and Perez, you can matchup with either lefties or righties...then hopefully betancourt and Lewis can stay sharp and set up the ninth for a healthy Wood.  Still need another starter....

CLEVELAND -- Mark DeRosa, who had been rumored to be a part of three- and four-team scenarios in the Jake Peavy trade talks, is finally headed out of Chicago -- but not in a deal for the San Diego Padres' ace.  DeRosa has been traded to the Cleveland Indians for minor league pitchers Jeff Stevens, Chris Archer and John Gaub.

 

DeRosa will likely slide into Cleveland's opening at third base. "We're going to take advantage of his versatility," Indians general manager Mark Shapiro said. "As the season unfolds, that's one of the many assists he can bring to the table."

I think i like the acquisition.  I dont know why shapiro is already dead set on putting him at third...he played second base the majority of last year.  So essentially we have a 2nd baseman at third, a natural shortstop at 2nd and a guy who lacks the range and is doing "well" in winter ball at third playing shortstop.  I hope it works out the way wedge and shap plan, but i better not see dumb errors this year.

 

Furthermore, I hear Pronk has lost weight and is spending about 5 hours a day hitting down at the Prog...if he continues to struggle ALL year like he did last year, would you ever consider letting shoppach get more at-bats in that slot?  I know its hard to bench a guy making pronk money, but come on, we have to win.

I ordered the MLB package.. so excited to be able to catch all the Tribe games in NYC this summer.  Also got tickets to the Sunday game of the Yankees/Tribe opening series.

I know!  I hate my staff.  They are such practical jokers.  However, I just got them all back.

i was telling everyone at work don't worry cc is erratic some days get used to it and the yankees will be just fine once a-rod comes back.....as long as mlb adjusts the rules to allow for canes.

Its ironic how the only season they have made the playoffs in the shapiro era was the season that they got off to a fast start (2007).  Wedge never has these guys ready to play, but then again its baseball...these guys should be ready to play on their own.  We will soon find out if this pitching is bad or they just went into a buzzsaw called the Texas Rangers.  We started 2-0 last year, so obviously these mean nothing, but its obvious we are playing bad baseball in this first week.

The bats showed some signs of life last night, but Carmona was pretty bad.  It's early and they'll get it worked out.  I fully expect this team to compete for the AL Central title.

We still insist on hitting Grady 1st and Hafner 4th.  I do not understand.  I feel like this team is build backwards or upside down.  Hopefully Choo or Francisco can hit like a legitimate corner outfielder and we can bring up some of the farm guys for the infield. 

Grady needs to not strike out so much with guys on base.  He has the talent to be a .300 hitter...he needs to focus more on that instead of being a 40/40 guy.
