December 11, 200816 yr I'm happy for CC... even if it is the Yanks. I'm happy that CC and his family are getting paid, but he's not allowed to be good. At least not $160 million good.
December 11, 200816 yr CC is a great guy, great teammate, and he's a gamer. Indians' fans know all to well though that CC didn't perform that well in the playoffs for us. Check out his career post season stats, not exactly sparkling. Maybe he might turn that around in NY, but if he doesn't...uh-oh! So what's everyone think about picking up Wood (pending the physical)?
December 11, 200816 yr do we really need another reason to hate the yanks? cc's gettin paid big time. I'd be bothered a lot less if the Yankees weren't sucking so many hundreds of millions of dollars from the taxpayer teat for their new stadium. No better than a lavish AIG party. Barf.
December 11, 200816 yr If Wood can stay healthy that is a great signing. They will have overpaid him significantly, but if he can get the job done whatever. I also like the bullpen guy the got for Gut. Last year they lost many games in the last three innings, with Smith and Perez, you can matchup with either lefties or righties...then hopefully betancourt and Lewis can stay sharp and set up the ninth for a healthy Wood. Still need another starter....
December 11, 200816 yr ^ yeah, i watched joe smith pitch for the mets, not bad. hes a sidearmer & hopes for groundballs. not great for relief but not bad either. *** one more thing about cc....johnny damon had a quote that reflected nicely on cc in cle in the nytimes: “I think the first half of the season, he was thinking, ‘Oh, I’m a free agent, but I love it in Cleveland,’” Damon said in a telephone interview. “And then when he got traded, he was a man on a mission. He started to understand the business side of the game, and this is where it got him.” http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/11/sports/baseball/11yankees.html?_r=1&ref=sports *** edit: omg i just thought of something....lee vs sabathia, whats the saying? one for the ages!! wow.
January 2, 200916 yr Cubs trade DeRosa to Indians Wednesday, December 31, 2008 ESPN.com news services CLEVELAND -- Mark DeRosa, who had been rumored to be a part of three- and four-team scenarios in the Jake Peavy trade talks, is finally headed out of Chicago -- but not in a deal for the San Diego Padres' ace. DeRosa has been traded to the Cleveland Indians for minor league pitchers Jeff Stevens, Chris Archer and John Gaub. DeRosa will likely slide into Cleveland's opening at third base. "We're going to take advantage of his versatility," Indians general manager Mark Shapiro said. "As the season unfolds, that's one of the many assists he can bring to the table." January 2, 200916 yr I think i like the acquisition. I dont know why shapiro is already dead set on putting him at third...he played second base the majority of last year. So essentially we have a 2nd baseman at third, a natural shortstop at 2nd and a guy who lacks the range and is doing "well" in winter ball at third playing shortstop. I hope it works out the way wedge and shap plan, but i better not see dumb errors this year. Furthermore, I hear Pronk has lost weight and is spending about 5 hours a day hitting down at the Prog...if he continues to struggle ALL year like he did last year, would you ever consider letting shoppach get more at-bats in that slot? I know its hard to bench a guy making pronk money, but come on, we have to win.
February 11, 200916 yr Holy crap. Full story at http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/02/10/2009-02-10_15m_lawsuit_claims_exmet_roberto_alomar_.html Baseball great Roberto Alomar has full-blown AIDS but insisted on having unprotected sex, his ex-girlfriend charged Tuesday in a bombshell lawsuit. The shocking claim was leveled by Ilya Dall, 31, who said she lived with the ex-Met for three years and watched in horror as his health worsened. In papers filed in state and federal court, Dall said Alomar finally got tested in January 2006 while suffering from a cough, fatigue and shingles. "The test results of him being HIV-positive was given to him and the plaintiff on or about Feb. 6, 2006," the $15 million negligence suit says.
February 11, 200916 yr Wow... "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 11, 200916 yr A few months later, the couple moved to Cleveland, where Alomar supposedly tested positive. Robbie moved back to Cleveland in 2005?
February 11, 200916 yr Honestly not so crazy. There are some rumors out there that now make sense. I'm not one to out anyone, but "how you doin'?"
February 11, 200916 yr Poor guy. He's one of the finest second basemen of all time and a hell of a hitter too. When he and Omar where on the field together, we had the greatest second baseman/shortstop defensive combo of all time ^Hey MTS, when you say you don't want to out him, are you referring to his having aids or were there/are there rumors of him being gay?
February 12, 200916 yr My four favorite words: PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT...just thinking about spring training is good for my mind.
February 12, 200916 yr Yeah. Lets hope the good play by the Cavs is contagious and their next door neighbors catch it!
April 3, 200916 yr From USAToday.com: Indians should contend in wide-open AL Central By Tom Withers, AP Sports Writer CLEVELAND — Across the plaza from LeBron James' home-court office, powerwashers blast winter's leftovers off the seats and corridors inside Progressive Field. With opening day approaching, the fabulous ballpark is being spruced up for another season. Outside the gates, it's quiet. Real quiet. There's only one customer at box office window No. 7, and after picking up an extra ticket for an April 10 game against Toronto, the longtime fan summed up how many Clevelanders are feeling about the Cleveland Indians and their chances of winning in 2009. "It's going to be a show-me first attitude," said George Roth of Shaker Heights, a season-ticket holder for the past 15 years. "Right now, with the economy, it's LeBron and the Cavaliers. Then, it's the Indians. I think after what happened last year, fans are a little more reticent." Full story at http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al/2009-04-01-2552447943_x.htm
April 3, 200916 yr Monday!!! Thats all i have said all winter about our division...wide open. Really, anyone can win and anyone can lose. Im hoping Lewis, Reyes and Pavano show up...i think Fausto will be just fine with Vic catching,.
April 3, 200916 yr I ordered the MLB package.. so excited to be able to catch all the Tribe games in NYC this summer. Also got tickets to the Sunday game of the Yankees/Tribe opening series.
April 3, 200916 yr ^ take pics if you can. The stadium is nice. My nephews went yesterday. They all say they thought it was cool, but didn't like the immediate area.
April 5, 200916 yr To get us ready for opening day tomorrow! From the PD...and Grady owns a house in Ohio City?? Indians slugger Grady Sizemore calls Cleveland second home CHUCK CROWTHE PLAIN DEALER Where's your favorite place to hang out in Cleveland? I like the South Side, in Tremont. Some good live music and the food is great and it's not far from my house in Ohio City or the ballpark. I like Sushi Rock and Rocky River Brewing Co. as well. What's your breakfast (or lunch) spot? West Side Market Cafe. Great food, friendly people, and I like the old-time atmosphere. What a beautiful building. April 6, 200916 yr Indians please win, I walked into my office to find a A-roid poster strangling slider! I hate these Yankee Bastards!
April 6, 200916 yr Indians please win, I walked into my office to find a A-roid poster strangling slider! I hate these Yankee Bastards! That's what you get for working in NYC!
April 6, 200916 yr Indians please win, I walked into my office to find a A-roid poster strangling slider! I hate these Yankee Bastards! That's what you get for working in NYC! I know! I hate my staff. They are such practical jokers. However, I just got them all back. I cut up that poster into a hundred pieces and walked into their Monday Morning Regional meeting and threw the poster on the conference room table and said, "You guys think that's funny, I find it disrespectful, in poor taste and insubordination. I'm your boss, not your friend and this is the joke the broke the camels back! I will not be disrespected! (switching between English and Spanish I continue) Don't fuck with me today I'm not in the mood for it! I'm an executive at this lousy company and helped build it into what it is today. I know how to win the hard way. I've done each persons in this rooms performance appraisal and I've decided to amend them. Lets see how far you get in this company without my stamp of approval." The horror on their faces! While that was going on my assistant had 4'x3' posters of the Indians and some Red Sox plastered to the back of their doors! Victory is mine!! >:D :whip: .......and the Indians shall be too!
April 6, 200916 yr Yeah.. I'm looking forward to pissing on the new Yankee Stadium as I did to the old during the last Indians/Yankees game there.. Now that's something to tell my grandchildren..
April 6, 200916 yr Way to throw the hammer down!...although the red sox stuff makes me just as sick as the yankees stuff. No A-rod until May, and if CC continues his early season jitters, he is going to hear an earful real quick!
April 6, 200916 yr Way to throw the hammer down!...although the red sox stuff makes me just as sick as the yankees stuff. No A-rod until May, and if CC continues his early season jitters, he is going to hear an earful real quick! Oh they will think of something to counter that. They don't give up easy. And my LA staff has been commenting on the wizards loss to no end and how we'll choke since. Since Knicks/Nets suck they only have the Stankee's to throw in my face. My second in comand, just came and asked me what the f*ck is this "grady's ladies" tshirt! She's a big old lesbo! >:D I'm in Joan Crawford/Mirand Priestly mode today kids!!! Hold on to your seats it's going to be a bumpy ride! HA!
April 6, 200916 yr Well, glad i looked forward to this day for so long. Isnt the month and a half spent in the nice warm sun suppose to make sure this DOESNT happen on the first day. No pitching, no hitting and now i have to wait until wednesday to get the taste out of my mouth
April 6, 200916 yr Indians please win, I walked into my office to find a A-roid poster strangling slider! Perhaps you would have preferred the "kissing himself in the mirror" poster?
April 7, 200916 yr Indians please win, I walked into my office to find a A-roid poster strangling slider! Perhaps you would have preferred the "kissing himself in the mirror" poster? ;) He's just a ridiculous platano! A complete idiot! Just hearing his name iritates me! agh!
April 7, 200916 yr i was telling everyone at work don't worry cc is erratic some days get used to it and the yankees will be just fine once a-rod comes back.....as long as mlb adjusts the rules to allow for canes.
April 9, 200916 yr Its ironic how the only season they have made the playoffs in the shapiro era was the season that they got off to a fast start (2007). Wedge never has these guys ready to play, but then again its baseball...these guys should be ready to play on their own. We will soon find out if this pitching is bad or they just went into a buzzsaw called the Texas Rangers. We started 2-0 last year, so obviously these mean nothing, but its obvious we are playing bad baseball in this first week.
April 9, 200916 yr The bats showed some signs of life last night, but Carmona was pretty bad. It's early and they'll get it worked out. I fully expect this team to compete for the AL Central title.
April 9, 200916 yr We still insist on hitting Grady 1st and Hafner 4th. I do not understand. I feel like this team is build backwards or upside down. Hopefully Choo or Francisco can hit like a legitimate corner outfielder and we can bring up some of the farm guys for the infield.
April 9, 200916 yr Grady needs to not strike out so much with guys on base. He has the talent to be a .300 hitter...he needs to focus more on that instead of being a 40/40 guy.
April 9, 200916 yr Season is over, I can't believe I wasted $170 on the MLB package.. Hey hey hey. The cavs season didn't start out so well and look where they are. It's two games. Sheesh!
April 9, 200916 yr MTS, you know that the only coherent points I make in this forum are sports related, do you really think I'm serious?
