April 9, 200916 yr Grady, Derosa, Pronk=K, K, K....good grief guys no other teams are having this much trouble hitting!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 9, 200916 yr glad I'm only watching this on the free preview! It wouldn't have been as much fun if I paid for it!
April 9, 200916 yr Grady, Derosa, Pronk=K, K, K....good grief guys no other teams are having this much trouble hitting!!!!!!!!!!!! Relax. Don't slit your wrist!
April 9, 200916 yr This is super painful. Is our starting pitching going to be this bad all year? Call some of those kids up from Lincoln-West or in Lorain. Plenty of latino talent around. They can make it happen and much cheaper!
April 9, 200916 yr Not every team hits like Texas at home. But Texas has terrible pitching and the Indians can't score against it. At least this year I won't spend 2-3 weeks getting invested and only then realize "they're sh*tty."
April 9, 200916 yr we cant compete...wedge should bring up brantley, laporta, hodges, santana just to send a message
April 9, 200916 yr Yeah he really improved on that. It was 135.00 after the 3-run HR he gave up in the 1st inning.
April 9, 200916 yr That's so sad about the young starting pitcher from the Angels who got killed in a hit-and-run today.
April 10, 200916 yr hey, last time they started 0-3 was in 1996. As I'm sure you all remember they went on to win 99 games... don't get your panties in a bunch just yet.
April 10, 200916 yr Scott Lewis will get the staff rolling today...I have a good feeling. He'll end up having a year like Carmona did in 07...please...
April 10, 200916 yr please is right...I worked my tail off all freezing winter with the light at the end of the tunnel being that baseball will soon be back...I would hate to see us be in a mammoth hole by the end of april.
April 11, 200916 yr well its not tribe news anymore but what the heck, we all love 'ol cc: CC SAFE AT HOME IN JERSEY April 10, 2009 -- YANKEE pitcher CC Sabathia consoled himself after his first abysmal game by spending $15 million on a six-bedroom house in Alpine, NJ, reports The Post's Jennifer Gould Keil. That's spare change for the 250-pound, 6-foot-7 ace, who signed a $161 million contract with the team in the off-season. The 12,000-square-foot mansion on 2 acres was on the market for less than two weeks. Sabathia, 28, paid all cash for his dream house, where he'll live with wife, Amber, and their three kids. The 'hood boasts neighbors like Sean Combs, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Chris Rock and Britney Spears. Broker Dennis McCormack of Prominent Properties Sotheby's International Realty had no comment. Single guy Rob Walker, who manages Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, sold the family-style place because he fell in love with a nearby bachelor pad in the $15 million-$20 million range. That deal may close soon. Read more at http://www.nypost.com/seven/04102009/gossip/pagesix/cc_safe_at_home_in_jersey_163748.htm
April 11, 200916 yr I really can't stand those NY Post Page Six inaccuracies. I mean describing CC as "the 250-pound, 6-foot-7 ace"? Come on! CC's 300 pounds if he's an ounce.
April 11, 200916 yr Although we got another loss yesterday...here's at least a feel good story from Opening Day http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2009/04/sun_rain_or_snow_win_or_lose_o.html (with mini slideshow) Sun, rain or snow; win or lose; Opening Day can be unforgettable by Bill Lubinger/Plain Dealer Reporter Friday April 10, 2009, 11:50 PM Without fail, said Rick Manning, Indians broadcaster and the team's former center fielder, some 60,000 fans flocked to old Municipal Stadium for Opening Day. And the next game would draw 3,000 stragglers. The home opener in Cleveland is about so much more than baseball...
April 11, 200916 yr from the lorain journal: Into the Swing of Things: Home opener 'greatest day of year' for Indians fans Published: Saturday, April 11, 2009 By BRAD BOURNIVAL [email protected] CLEVELAND — Hope springs eternal this time of year for virtually everyone in Northeast Ohio. For those Indians fans in the area, spring hopes are eternal every time their beloved squad makes its way back to the corner of Carnegie and Ontario for Opening Day. It's not so much a love affair as it is a passion in these parts. The Cavaliers and Browns begin their seasons with incredible fanfare, but for whatever reason, the crack of the bat brings people to the yard like nothing else. "This is the greatest day of the year," said Dutch Hughes, a grounds keeper for the Tribe and physical education teacher at Firelands High School. April 11, 200916 yr What the sh!t.. I spend $170 and the Indians aren't on the MLB package today.. WTF?! Call AMEX! LOL Do you really want to see them right now?
April 14, 200916 yr Anyone have Dolans e-mail? I have some words for him. He needs Dan Gilberts phone number ASAP
April 14, 200916 yr Last night was the first Indians game I've watched all year. I am seriously considering a boycott so that I do not get pissed every night they lose. I will also get pissed during the few games they win, bc I will just be thinking WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It freaking kills me. That's why 07 was so hard. You knew that a team spending 1/3 of the big boys would need a perfect season to ever make it back that far. I hate Dolan as an owner, with every bone in my body. I am also a little peeved at Jacobs (hard to do, I realize). Did he know Dolan would be such a tight-wad? Couldn't he have sold them to someone with a focus on winning?
April 14, 200916 yr On the good side, the bullpen is OK and Kerry Wood looks awesome. Doesn't matter if they're coming in with a 4 run deficit.
April 16, 200916 yr Can't express just how happy that 7th inning made me. Is there a sweeter sound than Yankee Stadium boos directed at their own team?
April 16, 200916 yr Can't express just how happy that 7th inning made me. Is there a sweeter sound than Yankee Stadium boos directed at their own team? Yes. Hissing at Knicks games! HA!
April 16, 200916 yr TRIVIA: who was the first team to win at the NEW Yankees stadium?? ;D ;D Excuse me. I need to run thru the office and strike while the Iron is hot! LOL Indians hat, check! Box Score, check! NY1 and other media discussing the blowout, check! I can only do this while my assistant is out as he is a HUGE stankee's fan. He took the afternoon off to attend the game and hasnt responded to any of my messages. He's pissed tomorrow should be fun. >:D >:D >:D >:D
April 17, 200916 yr ugh my head. i was in the ev enjoying the day yesterday and i got so excited watching that game i accidently drank too much crappy beer. TRIVIA: who was the first team to win at the NEW Yankees stadium?? :-D :-D and the first grand slam? tee hee. i love how the daily news cover just ignores the outcome
April 17, 200916 yr OK. If I've don't respond to any more messages, I've been killed by angry stankee's fans. I taped this to the bathroom mirrors. I left my indians hat on his desk a la Devil Wears Prada, and had it change is screen saver to indians home page. I clipped all the press and had them on his desk. He just came in here and cussed me in Spanish and threw all the papers all over the floor and told me to go to hell! He is boiling. My other assistant is in here ROFL he siad No.2 threw my Indians hat in the trash. I am living in the moment. There are some Boston fans in the office and all the Yankess fans are Angry. It's so funny. April 16, 2009, 11:28 pm Cheer Up, Yankees Fans: It Could’ve Been Worse By Tyler Kepner Yes, it was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and yes, the Cleveland Indians thrashed the Yankees, 10-2, in the first game at the new Yankee Stadium. But take heart. It could have been a lot worse. Read more at http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/16/cheer-up-yankees-fans-it-couldve-been-worse/?pagemode=print April 17, 2009 Indians 10, Yankees 2 A Good Day Spoiled in the Bronx By TYLER KEPNER The Yankees controlled everything they could about the first game at their sparkling Bronx palace Thursday. Dozens of storied players hugged the infield dirt before the game. Yogi Berra tossed the first pitch. Crisp new flags for every team ringed the frieze, like colorful candles on a white birthday cake. It was a celebration of Yankee glory, and even the weather cooperated. As the pregame performer John Fogerty would say, the sun came out and there was new grass on the field. The only problem was the game. The Cleveland Indians, who won the final playoff series at the old Yankee Stadium, blistered the home team, 10-2, before 48,271 fans. The bullpen allowed nine runs in the seventh inning after C. C. Sabathia, the new $161 million starter, could not complete six. The original Yankee Stadium opened with a Babe Ruth homer and a victory over the Boston Red Sox, foretelling decades of dominance. The Yankees can only hope Thursday’s rout was not an omen. “It’s not how you want to start out a new stadium,” Manager Joe Girardi said. “But one game is not going to make the history of this Yankee Stadium and this year.” Read more at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/17/sports/baseball/17yankees.html?_r=1&ref=baseball&pagewanted=print
April 17, 200916 yr That was awesome...and off to a good start today too! (5-3 mid 5th) I'm flying out to NYC tonight and going to the game tomorrow...I can't wait!
April 18, 200916 yr 14 runs in the 2nd inning?!! I guess the first two weeks of the season the indians were just "joking" around. They scored very few runs the first two weeks and the boys have unloaded the last few days. Go Tribe!
April 18, 200916 yr They mentioned on the radio today that right field in this new Yankee park is remarkably short. I wonder if every game there will be like these. Apparently there is a minimum level of pitching you need to have before you consider building your home field that way. The Tigers knew what they were doing at Comerica. We can't hit, so now you can't either.
April 18, 200916 yr It's 20-4 in the Sixth Inning. This is ridiculous! It appears the Indians have opened a on the Stankee's! And it's on National TV. Yes!!
April 18, 200916 yr I'm watching.. 21-4 now thanks to Pronk! The People of NY look Depressed! They should be it's going to be a long season. I hope we haven't use up all our runs in this game!
