Wow! The Indians will have FIVE players heading to Miami for the All-Star Game, including those expected Ramirez (fan vote), Miller (player vote), and Kluber (manager selection), as well as Brantley (player vote) and somewhat of a surprise in Lindor (player vote).

Guardians it is! The font and logo either need some tweaking, or will take a while to grow on me, but the name is a winner.

There were other good options, but I've always though this was the way to go. I'm happy its over. Let's move past it. I'm here for Baseball, and I'm here for Cleveland.

all that matters is they seemed to have fun, no one got hurt and happily kluber dnp.

Oh well, I'm officially tired of watching the Tribe. This is feeling a lot like the Cavs regular season, but a bit worse since we lost the Series. Not fun to watch this team, they just don't have it.

But you never know what will happen in a baseball season. Where it would be virtually impossible for the  :-Warriors to miss the playoffs next year, baseball teams can't always be so consistent and guarantee that sort of success. A few swings of the bat can change a season for the better(or worse),and the Indians have outscorrd their opponents 29-7 over the last four games/wins. At least theyre still ahead in the division.

But look what happened. I stopped paying attention and the team gets a win-streak going!

That's how it works I guess.

Yep, it's normal to get off track and lose a few games in a row here and there, but they've shown the ability to bounce back from that.

well this was awesome sports news to come back home to after i was out of the country:

Coming out of the All-Star break, the Indians were swept in a three-game series at last-place Oakland (AL West) and lost two of three at last-place San Francisco (NL West). They returned to Progressive Field at 48-45, first place by 1/2-game in the AL Central. Then this happened:

July 21 vs. Toronto: W, 13-3

July 22 vs. Toronto: W, 2-1 (10 inn)

July 23 vs. Toronto: W, 8-1

July 24 vs. Cincinnati: W, 6-2

July 25 vs. L.A. Angels: W, 11-7 (11 inn)

July 26 vs. L.A. Angels: W, 10-4

July 27 vs. L.A. Angels: W, 2-1

Not bad. Not bad at all.

As the scores indicate, the Indians won in every which way. Contributions came from all over the roster. Just as losing was contagious in the Bay Area, winning was contagious in this stretch. The Indians had not authored a 7-0 homestand since July 26-Aug. 1, 2013.

hopefully they keep it up vs the red sox and yankees!

Even though I wish the Tribe would have gone after another starting pitcher, I like the Joe Smith trade. A lot. He is a solid relief pitcher, using several modern metrics, easily in the top 20-25% in the league. He should come in and pitch in every high leverage situation in which Shaw was previously making appearances. Gives Tito another great option in the late innings in close ballgames.

Good timing, too. Miller was just placed on the 10-day dl for tendonitis - the rest will do him well

^Last night was a disaster.  We finally get the bats going for 10 runs, and yet we couldn't hold a lead.  And to add salt in the wound, Cody Allen threw a 3rd strike for what should have been the final out of the game, but the ball skipped past Gomes and Moreland was safe at 1st.  The next man puts the ball in the seats for a walk-off...at hated Fenway, no less, where so many Indians' dreams have died hard over the years.  So despite the beautiful, instant class Austin Jackson bullpen catch, it all amounted to the Tribe's 3rd loss in a row.  Yikes.

We're going to need Smith.  Not just because Miller is hurting, but because our pen, Shaw in particular, have been very shaky at times this season.

Which is why The Catch was meaningless to me. They lost.

Tribe picks up Jay Bruce from Mets. Pay remainder of his salary 4mil.  .258/29/76  RF/1B.  Gave up minor league relief pitcher.  That's a great deal.

Good OBP and power. Hope he can help wake up this sleeping giant offense.

Wow, I wonder how far he'll hit home runs when we draft him in what, eight years?

Tribe on pace for 102 wins, even better than last year, while the 2nd-place Twins on track finish their season at 84, barely above .500. Looks like we're going to be talking about the Indians' magic number pretty soon...But you never know.

^i don't know where you are getting 102. I'm showing 90. 69/124=55.6%.  Multiply 55.6% *162 and you have 90

I knew that sounded too good to be true, I guess I thought they had 78 or 79 wins. Meanwhile, Corey Kluber just became the third Indians pitcher to have 200+ strikeouts four straight seasons. Another one of those random baseball statistics, but you'll notice he is in elite company with many of these stats.

Cleveland will probably get win 70 tonight if offense strings together a few hits.

that was very classy of fans to give rajai davis applause when he came out for the red sox. you could sure tell he appreciated it. just a nice gesture.

I was there and joined in.  It was super classy of Cleveland.

Was that a 20-0 cumulative sweep of the Royals?

YUP.

They've caught up to the Red Sox for the AL second spot. They're about 5 1/2 back of the Astros for the one spot which is amazing in itself considering how each team started the year. They keep playing like this they'll have an outside shot at home field throughout the AL playoffs.

19 over 500. Pitching has been absurd lately.

....and now 20!

i'll say this, it was a beautiful day in the bronx lol!

Sale or Kluber for Cy Young? It's awfully close. Meanwhile Kershaw is from another planet with those numbers.

GOMES!!!

magic number 14

When your starter goes 2/3 of an inning and you still win....wow.

So maybe I was right that they could end up with over 100 wins...

If they played .500 the rest of the season, they will have 94 wins.

and I definitely think they're going to play above .500, the way they're going...

First, according to Elias Sports Bureau research, no team has had 14-game winning streaks in consecutive seasons since the 1935-36 Cubs. Second, the past 10 of those games have been on the road, during which the Indians have allowed a grand total of 19 runs. Cleveland fans have to be asking: Can we start the playoffs tomorrow?

Carasco shines in complete domination of the White Sox.  Tribe roll 5-1 for 14th straight win.

Miller threw his second bullpen session this week.  Kipnis traveled with the team and is resuming team workouts.  Both indicate a return before the regular season.

Brantley has only been running on an anti-gravity treadmill.  His return from a sprained ankle seems farther away.

Haven't checked in on this thread in a while.  We doing OK-ish?

I don't follow them anymore. I'm still mad they traded Cliff Lee.

^Dolanz R cheep!!

I got my Browns season tickets though. LOL

Hello 600 my old friend

^Dolanz R cheep!!

Seriously.  They need to open the checkbook to sign someone like Encarnacion or something.

:drunk:

They got Carrasco in the Cliff Lee deal.  Cliff being a Cy Young winner on a losing team was no good...this was an example of good prospecting by the front office.  We are in a position to win a World Series because of that trade

The Indians do not get the respect that I think they deserve.  I would argue that they have the best run front office of any team in Cleveland (not saying much.)  Being in a smaller market and making playoff runs every 3- 6 years is remarkable IMHO.

The best part of the Tribe not getting any respect is that they don't seem to care. They don't seem to think this streak is a big deal. They've got one goal on their mind and it isn't a win streak. They still believe they're not playing their best baseball. That's the mark of a great team.

Tribe ranks #1 in Beane Count (I didn't know this was a thing).

It's probably actually true that we probably aren't playing our best baseball--we still have guys that need to get healthy.  That was undoubtedly a major factor in why we couldn't close out a 3-1 Series lead last year.

I was definitely on the "Dolanz R Cheep" bandwagon a few years ago during their post-2007 doldrums, but I was proven wrong, bigly. My brother thinks it was Shapiro who was the real cheapskate and that his departure was the best thing for the Tribe - who knows.

The Dolans aren't cheap, they are patient...and actually very smart.  While we were all mad the Yankees and tigers were spending on huge contracts, the tribe sat tight and was building a culture with the right people...waiting for the right time to spend.  Fast forward a few years and the tiers r a mess, the Yankees realized what the royals and Indians were doing was smart and they blew it up and now r back with their own talent.  The cubs pretty much built from within. I give the Dolans a ton of credit
