Posted January 23, 201015 yr These pictures make me miss New Orleans so much. If in New Orleans, stay at the Roosevelt. It was amazing.
January 23, 201015 yr What an awesome looking city. Looks very vibrant and seems like a fun place to be.
January 23, 201015 yr It isn't too often we see a thread on downtown New Orleans but this is a great one. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 23, 201015 yr I love this set. As ColDayMan said, downtown New Orleans doesn't often show up here, and it should. It's so good to see streetcar tracks down the center of Canal Street, and Lee Circle looks much better in your photos than when I saw it around 1990; then it was shabby, unkempt, and run-down.
January 23, 201015 yr Wow that was great!! For some reason I was expecting downtown New Orleans to be very modern and bombed out... but that is certainly not the case. There is a great mix of new and old and tons of vibrancy!!
January 23, 201015 yr For some reason I was expecting downtown New Orleans to be very modern and bombed out... I would only describe the immediate area around the Superdome that way.
January 24, 201015 yr Much better than expected. Nice to see some flair in the downtown buildings and that one road with the streetcar traks in the middle which also serves as a pedestrian refuge. I can just imagine what it looked like without it: a street level highway.
January 24, 201015 yr I can just imagine what it looked like without it: a street level highway. I'm not sure about Canal Street, but I would predict that it always had a median. New Orleans is criss-crossed by boulevards, all with green medians like that one.
