Did anybody feel this last night? This is crazy. Exploding houses? That's insane. I am amazed that there were no deaths.

The explosion of a vacant home Monday afternoon on West 83rd Street near Madison Avenue left the neighborhood debris-laden and shattered the lives of people living nearby.

The blast left at least 15 families homeless. The Red Cross and nearby churches were offering shelter. Many houses were without electricity late Monday night.

One house had 15 families in it? No wonder the house exploded! It was too full!

I would not like to be at Dominion today trying to explain this one...

I don't think you do explain this one.  I think you fire some people and buy some windows, then maybe donate to a neighborhood charity.

Somebody is definately getting fired...

If I were living in this neighborhood I would be irate.  Neighbors called the gas company about the smell of natural gas on multiple occasions and it (apparently) was never turned off.  One of the neighbors even said the gas company told him they took care of it and he had nothing to worry about.  If the gas company was told of the leak and never turned it off I think they should be held responsible.

Hopefully it doesn't come to this, but the neighbors affected by the blast have grounds for a lawsuit for sure.  Hopefully the gas company and/or negligent owners will come forward to help those affected.
