July 29, 2024Jul 29 in case you are sweatin to the oldies these days in the height of summer — here is an interesting and very well handled news 5 throwback to the blizzard of jan 1977 and how it was dealt with:
October 7, 2024Oct 7 People move to Florida for the weather, and leave because of the climate. Hurricane Milton just reached Cat 5 faster than just about any hurricane in recorded history. And it's bound for Florida's Gulf Coast that hasn't yet recovered from Hurricane Helene's landfall 10 days ago. Tampa is extraordinarily susceptible to storm surge and hasn't really been tested by a hurricane of any strength directly in over a century. Anywhere it hits, though, will have double-digit storm surge even if it weakens some before landfall.

October 9, 2024Oct 9 I used to visit Sarasota many years ago when my grandmother was there. She lived a couple of miles inland not near the Gulf, but I saw the track will go almost directly over her old neighborhood, so hopefully it won't be so bad there. The barrier islands like Siesta Key (and Lido and Longboat Keys) face catastrophic destruction. Such a beautiful city http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
October 9, 2024Oct 9 this would be a good time for some comic relief, but who the hell is this "influencer?" This has to be a put-on, right? http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
October 9, 2024Oct 9 The sad thing about living an a world of influencers is that it's nearly impossible to tell who's actually dumb and who's pretending to be dumb for views.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 ^ Apparently Caroline Calloway went to Cambridge University and became famous (or infamous) for a "memoir" she wrote called Scammer. I doubt she's really in harm's way from the hurricane. I guess we'll know tomorrow lol http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

November 18, 2024Nov 18 As bad as our hurricane season was, and it was bad, the Philippines have been hit by FOUR Typhoons in TEN days. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 18, 2024Nov 18 Don't look now... NWS is calling for a snow/rain mix with possible accumulations... Snip...An active forecast period is in store, particularly from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday when the potential exists for impactful winds and wet snow accumulations. With Steelers on top of the division (with Russel Wilson....cough cough), the Browns should still show up to try to knock them off. If they don't, we have a serious coaching issue.

December 3, 2024Dec 3 E. 156th at the lake (home): 1-2" which didn't really start until sometime Sunday. E. 260th at the lake (Kelly's place): About 3" Thursday night, maybe a total of 4" through Monday. Kirtland (our COO's place): about 4" as of Sunday night. Mentor (work): I measured 17" total this morning. Geneva (our production manager's place): about 56".

January 22Jan 22 I miss hearing the Sohio radio commercials with the weird sound effect - "No fuel line freeze-up or Sohio pays your tow". I wonder if Sohio ever did pay for anyone's tow? Edited January 22Jan 22 by LibertyBlvd

March 17Mar 17 It was cold out there today, it seemed like the wind picked up right as the parade started and really dropped the mercury. We made it about halfway through the parade before hitting up a bar instead. My hovercraft is full of eels
