Posted February 16, 201015 yr Cincinnati's Snowmageddon Snowmageddon has made its appearance in Cincinnati, Ohio as we marked our record snowfall for the month at 23.1 inches, besting the previous record of 21.4 inches that was set in 1914. On February 16, the city received up to 8.3 inches of new accumulation, adding to the storm on February 9 and 10 that piled on 6.6 inches, and the storm on February 5 and 6 that dumped 8.1 inches of snow. That brings the total accumulation this winter to 35.4 inches, or 20.5 inches more than last year at this point. For an even more dramatic comparison, for all of last winter, the city received 21.5 inches of snow. Selected below are photographs of Cincinnati and Hamilton County during the last three snowfalls. Note: This has been crossposted to UrbanUp. Alms Park in Cincinnati draped in snow. An overlook from Eden Park provides a panoramic view of Kentucky. Mirror Lake at Eden Park. Sharon Creek at Sharon Woods. Queen City Square is all but transparent in the snowstorm on February 16. There were few walking the streets of downtown Cincinnati during the day on Monday, February 16. Buses outnumbered cars. All work was halted for Monday. Government Square was packed full of buses. Fifth Street at Fountain Square was deserted at rush hour. A lone worker cleared the sidewalk. I sat down on the snow covered steps at Fountain Square to watch a bit of television piped in on the giant screens above the Macy's Department Store structure, then snapped this photo of the Tyler Davidson Fountain at Fountain Square. Covington, Kentucky was all but invisible. A lone walker mutters "it's so freakin' cold" over and over as she strolls down 4th Street. Vicki Webster, a downtown resident and a freelance writer and publishing consultant, walks her giant Great Dane down 4th Street in the snow storm. The sizable pet was enjoying the winter weather more so than most on this day. Garfield Park Rush hour. I walked in the streets on the way home, unimpeded by automobile traffic. Enjoy the Snowmageddon that has paralyzed Cincinnati! You know that I'm enjoying this winter weather very much.

February 17, 201015 yr Great photos as always Sherman. Should be interesting what the river does once all of this snow melts.
February 18, 201015 yr I don't see why, in that snow, the lady doesn't just ride that dog. good lord No joke! Get that pooch a saddle!!!
February 18, 201015 yr Great pics. I really like the shots of the statues with a snowcap... Ditto the comments on the dog. He is huge.
February 23, 201015 yr Loving all the bus photos here. BTW, it's called Piatt Park not Garfield Park. You probably got it confused since the park is located on Garfield Place.
February 24, 201015 yr Oops. Thanks for that! I assumed Garfield because of the statue. Pfsh, amateurs.
