February 17, 201015 yr People shouldn't be going straight from the K to the L sound. They should be saying "Kuh" like "Kuh-lonopin" and end it with Colum-BIS, as in Cannabis.

February 18, 201015 yr An old friend in Cleveland, who hated Columbus, used to pronounce it Col-yum-boose, with the accent on the first syllable. Of course, our name for Cleveland was even less flattering.
February 18, 201015 yr I've never quite understood how one could "hate" an entire city/metro; at least those with over a million in the metro, a decently built-up CBD and a handful of interesting neighborhoods. February 18, 201015 yr In my mind I say it like Kuh-lum-bus, but by the results here I'm guessing I probably end up saying "bis". I say it like you do. IMO, there is definitely a "bus" at the end, and not a "bis." :)

April 7, 201015 yr I think I pronounce it differently each time I say it. :/ Sometimes I think I say bis at the end and sometimes bus. Weird!
