COTA, the bus system for Columbus, err, central Ohio, is free when there's a level 2 or 3 snow emergency. Of course, I had already bought a monthly pass (with a significant discount) for this month, so I get to use the bus as much as I want anyway. A friend and I decided to head out to Bexley for a change of scenery. We walked around Capital University and Main St.

Capital is Lutheran, which is quite ironic considering what Luther said about the Jews who make up a large percentage of Bexley residents. Here, Jews and Lutherans seem to get along just fine regardless.

Is that a bell?

Why, yes it is and the rope goes down to...

Well, it's right there...

Anyway, rushing back to Main St. Bexley is quite welcoming of urban development, even moreso than some of Columbus' urban hoods.

It looks like the entrance, but don't be fooled. There are signs on the doors reading "Not an Entrance". Why did they design it like one?

To the left is a vacant retail spot not included in the picture. Can't remember what was there. To the right is Cup O Joe where I'm going to kill a few hours.

Bike racks now have a larger presence.

Main used to be brick.

Although I'm not a fan of Starbucks, they got themselves a kick-ass building. Used to be a bank. They have a tendency of picking their Columbus locations right next to or across from the local coffee chain Cup 'O Joe.

Now it's dark and we got even more snow.

Always going to find a decent number of diners here.

Grabbed a bite at Moshi and was pleased with it once again. Always nice to see another dining option that serves alcohol. Ritzy Bexley may very well now have more establishments serving alcohol than quirky Clintonville.

A big empty pristine lot right across from the Bexley Gateway. Just don't go the $1 million condo route this time. Apartments with retail please!

On the way here, it was sad to note that the only new destination on the dilapidated stretch of Main between Bexley and Downtown had closed permanently. Gloria's Soul Food got positive reviews and the last time I tried to eat there a sign said they closed temporarily for a family emergency. I wish them well and this goes to show that it takes more than one business to bear the burden of revitalizing a business district.

Neat!

No governors mansion??  Nice though.

Beautiful... how bike friendly is it?

Very. Even the major roads have lanes for cars to pass.

Great photo tour. I haven't been in Columbus much but I've driven through Bexley in early summer, and it looks inviting.

Best Columbus suburb.

Grandview Heights and Worthington are a close second and third.

The streets look pretty well cleared for a level 2!

Nice pics.

I think Upper Arlington would beg to differ.

They can beg all they want

There's some pretty crappy parts of UA. Bexley is beautiful all the way through. It reminds me of Evanston, IL. Not just the houses but the nicely buffered streets and sidewalks.
