July 11, 201311 yr Bump. Here is a modern flag that I think actually looks good. It doesn't try to be an old flag, but it's actually pretty well designed: The City of Blue Ash in Hamilton County, OH. Detroit's flag is good for many different reasons: The four corners represent the different countries that have occuppied Detroit (France, Britain, and two for the USA witht he stars and stripes). The saying in the middle is a reference to the fire that burned down the city in 1805 and says: "Speramus Meliora" and "Resurget Cineribus". These latin phrases mean "We hope for better things" and "It will rise from the ashes". Relevant on so many levels. The best flag of all time, though, is the Russian Province of Yaroslavl Obalst: A goddamn bear with an axe!
July 16, 201410 yr This is maybe my least favorite US State flag... It hurts. This is one of my favorites:
July 16, 201410 yr When I moved from Springfield to Cincinnati, I felt like I had left Ohio. Charlie Luken mentioned how Cincinnati had kinda isolated itself from Columbus. I see more UC & UK flags around this place than Ohio flags. So I got an Ohio flag & have been flying it out front for a few weeks. I imagine everybody thinks I went to OSU but what the heck...

May 15, 201510 yr Here's my submission for the new OTR flag: I was toying around with different flag ideas for Cincinnati and OTR. Here are some of the results. Original Cincinnati Flag (not my design) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/dd/Flag_of_Cincinnati,_Ohio.svg/2000px-Flag_of_Cincinnati,_Ohio.svg.png[/img] Simpler Cincinnati Flag (no seal and simpler buckeye leaves) Now I created my own design that utilizes the canal. The black line at the bottom is the Ohio River. The black line cutting through the middle is the Miami-Erie Canal. The yellow black and red are the colors of the German flag. Yellow in this instance would represent the freedom from slavery of those going through the underground railroad. The red at the top would symbolize the energy and liveliness of Over-the-Rhine and the hotbed of culture and significance the immigrants played to Cincinnati's history. And I created one more with no Ohio River at the bottom because it makes the flag cleaner. One more variant Any thoughts? This was a pretty quick design idea I had. Alternatively the last couple flags could be an OTR flag, but perhaps moving the canal further to the bottom and left of the flag to emphasize the space of OTR instead of downtown would be better.
January 30, 20214 yr So https://www.cincyflags.com/ made unique flags for all of Cincinnati's 52 neighborhoods, but they're not getting enough use to really catch on. I was thinking what if we made address markers for houses that showcased each neighborhood's flag? Here's some rough prototypes
