A friend of mine boomeranged from Chicago and got a $700 one-bedroom apartment there. It's not in as good a condition as I would've liked, but it is possible to rent some nice apartments. I see several apartments at Mayfield Station have opened up. They're going for $2.50 to $3 per sq ft though. April 1, 20232 yr ^ Thing is Ken l'm in the homeowner stage of life and my wife wants (needs! according to her) a garden so Lakewood it is. While Little Italy is exciting and sophisticated Lakewood is cool enough and comfortable too. Easy living there.

May 12, 20232 yr Alpha Apartments' new building at 2185 Cornell Rd next to the Baricelli Apartments. It'll add 14 much needed apartments to Little Italy (11 2-beds and 3 3-beds). A few more minor changes are planned before the next Landmarks Meeting. There's been some positive feedback as the plan has been refined, but there are still plenty of Little Italy NIMBYs who oppose any new apartments. I work in a company related to Alpha Apartments, and they're currently looking for more support for the project. If anyone around Little Italy or University Circle is able to, it'd be really appreciated it if you could take a few minutes and send an email of support to Landmarks ([email protected]). Thanks!

Maybe they'd be more supportive if you randomly put different aluminum siding on these, enclose a couple of the balconies and put out orange cones in a few parking spots to claim them for yourself!

It looks horrible. I hope this is something temporary but it doesn't look like it. And the Casa D"angolo cannot start soon enough for me. I can taste it. They're familiar with Cleveland but the extent of development they saw on this tour was probably the most they'd seen. From the west side and downtown, we had weaved through the Cleveland Clinic Campus (which still doesn't have new buildings popping up yet from their multiple construction sites), into Hough and Glenville, into Uptown and Little Italy (one tour-goer hadn't been in UC since the 1970s!), up to Coventry, past Top of the Hill and then past CWRU's South Campus dorms construction. I'm familiar with that project and it still surprises how large and dense it is. August 29, 20231 yr Little Italy is the one neighborhood I feel would be perfect for some east coast style architecture, such as Brownstones or even the traditional multifamily brick housing you see in Philadelphia (the name of the style escapes me so I'll call them vintage townhomes). Especially since it's the one area that contains the density of an east coast city. When you say “ concrete plan” are you referring to specifications for the pouring of concrete, say for the foundation? Or are you saying that there are not any concrete plans for the entire project which would seem strange at this point since it was approved months ago.

I recall lots of debate, especially about the height of the building. Are you saying they are starting from scratch with a new design and all that entails including community meetings with the locals and then the city approval process again? This will take a pretty long time. I liked the design that was presented way back when. Also, how were they able to demo the building without an approved design? Is this a bait and switch?

But then WXZ got involved, and as I’ve indicated above, had an approved design. As part of that process, they also got approval for the demolition. I also remember an extensive discussion at landmarks regarding the demolition with one of the board members getting into heated debate with the previous owner, accusing him of letting the building fall into disrepair. I know I sound like an idiot, but this is really confusing to me. What happened to the approved design?

October 4, 20231 yr I looked over the thread, and I think I was confused as well. @zbaris87was clearly referencing the Mayfield theater, and not the primo Vino project. Hopefully that is on track with the new equipment on site. It has been taking forever. Actually, as I dictate this, I’m sitting across the street from the fenced in site having dinner. October 5, 20231 yr Guys, I'm talking about the Mayfield theatre project. I was there last night with our team and Terry. There is no concrete plan for the building as of yet, other than some minor repair work to the facade and the bricks on the chimney. We are working on some ideas now and will have something in the near future to share with you all
October 5, 20231 yr So one last question. Is the (potential) plan for the theater to used as a theater, some kind of event space or the usual apartment conversion?
