DCI received final approval at todays CPC meeting for its Public Square programming hub structure. The structure is movable. DCI plans to have this in by May. This is in part funded from the project for public spaces award they received in 2023.

This is a small project, but a nice alternative to the cart/tent station that is occasionally used by DCI.

  • One thing I can't stand about life in present day America is the absolutely ridiculous amount of time it takes to get anything done due to the bureaucracy. It's embarrassing.

Public Square info hub gets grant, design approval
By Ian McDaniel / February 21, 2025

Improvements to Cleveland’s Public Square took a step forward today when the City Planning Commission unanimously approved a temporary, yet robust programming hub. The hub, designed to replace tents currently used by staffers for downtown events would not only provide workers shelter and a place to store materials, but also function as a kiosk for posting event schedules and wayfinding.

This is the official "Shack" on the square.

It knocks the SWHQ learning auditorium thing completely out of the running!

I do wish that money was spent to replace the lost trees around the splash fountain and additional restroom/changing facilities were provided to the visitors to Public Square.  This "shack" doesn't seem necessary as it appears  the same effect could happen on a led kiosk sign.  No AC or heat is provided inside this metal box. Lastly, it just appears too gimmicky and doesn't blend with the surroundings.
