March 1, 201015 yr ^ I don't think so haha. Such a beautiful and clean looking city. Even the "gritty" parts look clean and well-kept.
March 3, 201015 yr Minneapolis looks like a terrific place... if only it weren't so damn cold there! Might one say that Minneapolis is the most impressive midwestern downtown after Chicago?
March 3, 201015 yr Detroit is a like a shell, an Acropolis-type of museum towards the Rise and Fall of American Capitalism and 1930's architecture. Minneapolis is an actual downtown so yes, I'd say it's #1 outside of Chicago but not TOO far out there (Indianapolis and Milwaukee have vibrancy that are almost as impressive as Minnie's). March 3, 201015 yr This town (or towns, including St Paul) is great, at least what we are seeing here. They did a great job with those old mill buildings and stuff. I think there is an island in the river, too...
March 9, 201015 yr This has got to be the most dangerous public park in the country...and I LOVE IT! Wow, does Mpls have ANY bad areas? Not really. NorthEast Minneapolis has always been the "ghetto" of the cities, but even that's not bad. The metro area has plenty of inner-ring suburbs that aren't particularly nice though. I also think that the area called Payne-Phalen North of downtown St Paul looked rough, but I've been told it's just ugly and not necessarily a dangerous or bad part of town. The Twin Cities have a lot due in large part to the Metropolitan Council, the regional planning org. Check out Metcouncil.org is you're curious.
