Posted March 2, 201015 yr Any request? Oh yeah, could you give me your description of the beer as well? Taps are spoken for but bottles are wide open.
March 2, 201015 yr Of course, it goes without saying that Christian Morelin must be served :) Have you looked into Alltech's offerings? They are from Lexington, Ky. and distribute up here.
March 2, 201015 yr We will be making a big nod to Moerlein, especially on our taps. We will look into the KY Ale.
March 2, 201015 yr It may not be easy to get, but Long Trail Ale from Vermont is a nice beer. It deserves a wider sphere of exposure. Great Lakes is, of course, another classic Ohio pick.
March 2, 201015 yr Along with Moerlein, the other local brews should be included as well. Mt. Carmel, Rivertown and the upcoming Incline Brewing. It would also be nice to have a few of the lessor known imports from Germany. I don't have any particular brands in mind, but I think it would be very interesting to try. Personally, I would like a large IPA selection, not just the typical Stone, Rogue, Arrogant Bastards that you can find at a lot of bars around here but some stuff that is lessor known. Again, no particular brand. I just love trying new beers!!!
March 2, 201015 yr Personally, I would like a large IPA selection, +1! I am a fan of the typical ones: Bell's Two Hearted, GL Commodore Perry and even the Sierra Nevada Torpedo.
March 2, 201015 yr Michael, if you want to get new brands that people haven't tried before, here is a list of all of the beers that have been approve for distribution into Ohio in 2010: http://www.com.ohio.gov/liqr/rpts/bwbrands.txt

March 2, 201015 yr Would one of those people be...YOU!??!?!?! Nope. I like sissy beer! Not a big fan of beer in general.
March 2, 201015 yr Bell's and any local brews (Moerlein, et al) go without saying, but I'll add a second vote for Yuengling.

March 2, 201015 yr Bell's and any local brews (Moerlein, et al) go without saying, but I'll add a second vote for Yuengling. I don't believe Yuengling has a licensed distributor in Ohio
March 2, 201015 yr ^ I just had a bottle of Yuengling Friday night. Guy bought it somewhere in Liberty Township "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
March 2, 201015 yr Good luck with the event. While I'm partial to Great Lakes, I've been really impressed with Ithaca Brewing Company, and I understand they now have a Cincinnati distributor (you can get them in the Cleveland area at Rozi's). Some of their stuff is touch an go (like the Cold Front, their Belgian dark ale which is fairly meh), but their hoppier offerings are really excellent, especially the Flower Power IPA.
March 2, 201015 yr Ok, now that this is the 2nd post, I have to ask, what is NEONS? One of our forumer's bar in Cincinnati. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 2, 201015 yr thx, I actually just googled it now that there is "Cincinnati" in the title, and was able to figure it out.
March 3, 201015 yr Goose Island: 312 Urban Wheat Bells: Oberon, Hopslam (not my favorite but is popular), Best Brown New Holland: Zoomer (wheat), the Poet (oatmeal stout), I think you should try and figure out a way of getting and selling New Belgium beers...they don't yet have a distribution deal in the state of Ohio...but they are into Indiana now. It's only a matter of time.
March 3, 201015 yr ^New Belgium would have to appoint a licensed Ohio distributor and get product approval from the Ohio Department of Liquor control. After Granholm v. Michigan direct shipment to retailer permit holders is allowed for wine (B-2A), but is not allowed for beer.
March 3, 201015 yr i wasn't advocating breaking the law...just hoping that more people could start asking and putting pressure on to get them to set a distributor. i don't want to have to drive to Lawrenceburg to get beer.
March 3, 201015 yr ^^According to New Belgium reps, they will not be expanding into Ohio in 2010. They are currently unable to handle the demand that the likes of Ohio or Florida would produce. They added Indiana, Georgia (some areas), Tennessee, and the Carolina's in 2009. Map I'm happy that I can now drive 20min to get their beer instead of having it "imported" from Chicago or St. Louis. Their 1554 Black Ale is one of my favorites. "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
March 3, 201015 yr How about Weihenstephaner? They say they are the oldest brewery in the world, established in 1040. I really like their Krystal Weissbier which is a crystal clear wheat beer. Another favorite is New Holland Dragon's milk. It's a cask ale and has an ABV of 10% without being too boozy. It's pretty tasty.
March 3, 201015 yr ^Nicholson's has Dragon's Milk on tap occasionally. Good stuff. Although Beer Advocate says it's only 8% ABV. "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
March 3, 201015 yr Just want to go on record as saying Mt. carmel on tap does nothing for me. I know it's local, and we like to have the local beers in place and support them....but. meh. Has never been that impressive, IMHO. I know I was kind of disappointed when the Senate used one of their 8 taps for Mt. Carmel. I was like, "really"?
March 3, 201015 yr ^Nicholson's has Dragon's Milk on tap occasionally. Good stuff. Although Beer Advocate says it's only 8% ABV. They are probably right, for some reason I was thinking 10.
